Seems like solid logic at face value. Until you remember that The Summit/MVFC failed to do what was in their best interests and self-preservation of their league long-term with a school about 70 miles north of 94 on I-29 when the opportunity presented itself. Instead of being proactive, they have shown a history of reactive leadership style. Ask Summit baseball. Close call there. So now, from a business standpoint, your once logical comment has lost its sensibility relative to what is being discussed here regarding Mankato. We will see if anything has changed.

Disengenuous? Cmon... Nobody is making this stuff up out of thin air. When a coach stops to talk to another coach at the handshake to say a few words, you give them that courtesy, Deciure, Jacobson or otherwise. If you dont like what they are saying, then by all means move along. He never even game him a chance. Again, this is not a one-time occurrence. Ask Ben Jacobson, the UND alum who was coaching Brian Jones' alma mater and was kind enough to schedule UND at the Betty. This is not isolated. Just an example. Some believe this behavior is acceptable. Others do not. For what it's worth, I went back and watched it again to make sure I wasn't making stuff up in my imagination. We havent even begun to talk about the on the court stuff. Montana finished the game on a 10-0 run. We all know how the 2nd half of the ndsu game went. I respect your difference of opinion, but disengenuous? I'll give you the last word on this debate, if you want it.

But it isn't 'supposed'....it's been there, always has. Your point on winning certainly makes sense, I agree. It would be more tolerable, not celebrated. Why is there blood in the water? It's self-inflicted, no?

Jones lack of professionalism and class has been a trend, not an anomaly. He did this exact same thing to, of all people, Ben Jacobson. Just 2 recent examples. Outside of his fly-by handshakes, his demeanor overall on the sideline has been and is embarrassing. If he didn't have a track record of this behavior, I'd be willing to give him the benefit of the doubt in this most recent situation. Growing up and watching the Dave Gunther and Rich Glas coached teams at UND, regardless of the talent or product on the floor on a nightly basis, you would have never seen either of those 2 act that way towards an opposing coach, much less a highly-regarded alum. I dont for a second blame a coach for being sour about getting throttled at home like he did against UNI - he should be upset. However, it's on the coach to not allow that to happen and furthermore, a leader in his position needs to be able to gather himself for a professional handshake, especially for a guy like Jake. Also, his overall demeanor, body language, facial expressions and antics at courtside no doubt are contagious and rub off on the players. Very poor optics for a leader, especially given the record. I know others disagree, but I guess I'm disappointed that this behavior is being defended and somehow seen as acceptable. It would be one thing if there was some sort of dirty altercation between the players and/or coaches, but that has not been the case. The talent on this team is there. The only thing holding it back is its leadership. It has been a detriment and will continue to be. Underachieving has been a staple for years now. The sample size is overwhelming. I just want this basketball program to be great again, in all aspects, from the top-down.

Interesting, but not surprising. I'd also say that is pretty decent. As far as the relative importance to the landscape of college athletics overall, interesting to note the 635,000 viewers from the 2015 NCAA Hockey Championship Game in Boston between Boston University and Providence. Just goes to show how important getting your basketball team to the big dance is. It definitely has the biggest potential for exposure and viewership. Would be REALLY, REALLY nice to have our football, hockey and mens basketball teams all rolling at the same time to maximize the exposure for the flagship University of North Dakota. Can you imagine a FCS Football Championship Game appearance, Frozen Four appearance and Big Dance ticket all in the same year?

Ok fine, I'm not saying you did specifically. But what is it that you want the apology for?
-
Still cant figure out who needs to apologize to gfhockey and why. If anything, apologies should be made to Demon Taylor, Bryce Blair, John Santiago, Keaton Studsrud, et al or any other name that was speculated about in this thread that never had any intention of leaving.
-
I'm sincere in asking which previous post of yours you are referring to that warrants an apology from some(one) here? Honest question.
-
Have literally said the exact same thing to friends.
-
+1000 I personally have learned a lot about some people in that regard over the last 3-4 years and have been disappointed.

He's an NFL talent, no question. This one hurts. However, he seems to be doing it for a reason that is hard to argue with apparently. I wish Elijah the best and the door will be held open for him at UND, no doubt.

K thanks!...

Thank you GeauxSioux. That could not be stated better. 100% agree. So much truth there.

Regarding WIU: I'd like to amend this quote from a month ago to "D2 or non-scholarship FCS (Pioneer)". Would be interesting to see what Patty V's next move is if this comes to fruition. Monday 1 pm presser with WIU President should be interesting. <blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">Interesting. <a href="https://t.co/70b8zuNkNA">https://t.co/70b8zuNkNA</a></p>— SiouxFootballInsider (@SiouxFootball) <a href="https://twitter.com/SiouxFootball/status/685575343629942785">January 8, 2016</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

According to his twitter, sounds like Demon Taylor is chomping at the bit to get back on campus and get to work. This is 100% contrary and opposite to other speculation regarding DT specifically in this thread of course. Sounds like his attitude certainly isnt a problem.

I'd venture to guess that academics may have crossed his path once or twice at Stanford, one of the most elite universities in the country. Is the guy a leader? That's the bigger question. I respectfully reject the notion that the new President must be from academia and have a Phd. Given his background, he, or anyone else for that matter, needs to be able to be an effective communicator and leader. I want our next president to be a great leader, academically and athletically, Phd or not. Having a Phd or academic background does not ensure leadership qualities. Just like a masters degree doesnt for a football coach.

Get outta here with that crap. Idiot.

I'm shocked about this and still have my doubts.

37 applicants. Hi there, Ray Purpur...
-
I dont think he would come here as a position coach. It would have to be as a coordinator.
-
I'd say we have a better chance of signing Jacob Eason than we do hiring Dale Lennon to replace Marty Rodgers as a position coach. Just aint happening.
-
Still waiting on how solid these sources and gossip are regarding Taylor...and still crickets. Absolutely bull**** to speculate on actual names of speculative departures that have no merit. Just a black eye for siouxsports.com. Shouldn't be allowed and should be vetted and moderated better. So unfair to any kid who works hard, likes it at UND, does all the right things and has no intention of leaving Pisses me off. Embarrassing.

You have solid reliable sources on this? I'm really curious to hear your response.

100% certain it's not Santiago so that can be put to bed right now.

Unfortunately, I think the SUU-SDSU debacle has clouded many people's judgement. In hindsight, SUU was not that bad and SDSU was not that good, on that particular day. It was a complete anomaly. Probably similar to WIU's quality loss to ndsu. Had they played again, SDSU may have still won, but it would have definitely been closer.
