  1. What an unfortunate discussion... Marijuana is illegal in North Dakota and these 2 kids broke the law and 'UND team conduct rules' and should be punished accordingly. I LOVE the concept of punishing teammates while the offenders get to watch. I believe it holds the entire team accountable and is motivation to stay out of trouble. This method has been used for quite some time. I think it's a reach to compare college team athletics to speeding tickets etc in everyday life. Like someone else posted, our military practices similar methods. 2 games wouldn't be too much and I suspect 1 will be the minimum. Hope these 2 learn from this. If not, they will be held accountable by Coach Schweigert and I fear what that result would be. Both kids have high ceilings.
  2. Should at least start him there. If he just isn't working out for your team at LB, then try him at FB. Like everyone says, he can play special teams for you regardless. Start him out where hes comfortable first at the position where he's wowed everyone when they turn on the tape, then try the position hes never played.
  3. Never played fullback in college. All of his amazing plays are at LB. I do not understand why they wouldnt take a flyer on him as a LB. That's the position he knows and is most comfortable at. Who cares if hes 5'-9.5". Can he play football? This is where scouts sometimes out-think themselves in my opinion. In any event, good luck Will. We are cheering for you.
  4. All of this is plausible and I get this angle. However, he is essentially firing him by doing that. Nobody works into their final season on their contracts any more. That is very telling and a huge PR problem for the coach on the recruiting trail etc. Huge problem. Any coach worth his salt that has any pride in themselves would go elsewhere and get a different job if presented with this scenario by their AD. The proverbial writing is on the wall in this situation. But he won't/wouldn't because this is the best he can do in my estimation. Just a bad situation all-around. I believe there is more behind the scenes fallout than people might think from alums, fans, boosters and more. 10 years is an awfully large sample size, but we will see. Faison needs to show vision and leadership on this moving forward.
  5. Of course he did. Bison Dick is a model of consistency. He's been trying to overcompensate for his inadequacies since wayyyy before that. SPS is formidable. Just ask him.
  6. uhhhhh.....POTATO!?!?
  7. I undertand what you are saying, and that's fine. But by definition, as discussed here in this thread, what is a "Thunderbird"? My opinion is that the cartoony logo doesn't change the meaning of the word. Still appears to be a double standard. Given the definition, I wonder if "Thunderbirds" would have been acceptable for UND as a nickname? I tend to think not, but I could be wrong.
  8. Big Sky Conference Member Southern Utah: Thunderbirds So I guess I don't get why some think that would be so offensive. (Not that I'm fighting for it) Seems to be yet another double standard.
  9. I believe this is incorrect. William & Mary changed their name from "Indians" to "Tribe" and then incorporated a feather for a logo, correct?
  10. So this is interesting. Very Interesting. Wonder if there are any other schools under that microscope right now?
  11. I love the #leavenoboubt mantra for a motivational tool for next season. I remember after the 2000 season, the summer and winter workout manuals for the team had a photo in it of the scoreboard for the last game at Memorial Stadium against Augustana that read 35-23. Little reminders like that can do wonders for a hungry team.
  12. Was UND playing the same type of football against ndsu, Montana, Weber, and Idaho State as they were the last 3 weeks of the season? No. They were playing their BEST football at the end of the season. ZERO questions asked. 2 totally different teams. That's part of the problem. Yes, we should have won another game so we could keep it out of the committee's hands. I agree. Bottom line: The committee's reasoning was ridiculous and we got screwed, yes. If that makes me a complainer months later, I'm ok with that. If we disagree, so be it.
  13. Love the #leavenodoubt attitude. These guys are pissed off and motivated and should be. But lets not leave it in the hands of the committee that came up with the "quality loss" criteria. I am already jacked up for the team and the staff. Bring on spring ball in 24 days.
  14. I understand why hockey fans would not want to accept an affiliate B1G membership, but I still think it would have to be considered and maybe ultimately taken. Again, who are your peer institutions? LEAD on this, dont follow, and be the reason how and why the B1G Hockey conference gets 'fixed'. Hell, even demand some concessions to come over and say "take it or leave it". I get the arguments on the cons, with game schedules etc, but I think as a whole it could potentially be a good thing. Again, it's debatable. However, there is literally ZERO debate if you get a full membership offer for the B1G. I can't believe that is even a discussion. You take it and RUN and laugh hysterically because you are in the P5 and can be a LEADER in fixing the college hockey problems in the B1G. This fanbase can do it and make it better. Give ourselves more credit. But again I digress, as the odds of B1G full membership happening are slim and none.
  15. Carson Wentz is a fantastic QB and a North Dakota kid who will be a 1st round draft pick. Wish we would have landed him out of high school. Doesn't mean myself or anyone has to cheer for him just because he's from ND. Kind of like cheering for ndsu athletics right? Just something I don't do, sorry. I don't wish him ill-will and I think he will do just fine, but just because it's good for ndsu, doesnt mean it has to be good for UND too. In fact, it's NOT good for UND. It has nothing to do with "butthurt". It has everything to do with my loyalty and pride to UND. Hope you can respect that?
  16. Another great "set" by Jones out of a timeout with 10.7 to play.
  17. Wow, shocking on markert. I know we were recruiting him as an OL.
  18. Yes, Randolph is being recruited as a safety. However, in a pinch I think he could jump over to the other side and play QB if neccessary.
  19. Randolph has apparently decommitted from Army, per his twitter.
  20. I'm hearing Blair is only 250ish still. He has a LONG way to go before he can hold up in the trenches. He needs 40 more pounds still in my opinion.....minimum. Hopefully he is able to put it on. He might have to be a blocking TE in running personnel groupings until that happens.
  21. You are correct. The team's success will be dictated by the progression or lackthereof up front on offense, more than it normally would. I feel so much better about the rest of the team overall than I have in a while, but offensive line play will make or break the success of the team next season. There is a TON of work to do there right now. I hope everyone is ready to step up. Here's my list of importance regarding improving and developing over spring and fall ball: 1. OL 2. CB (time for Deion and Tyus to make the jump) 3. ILB 4. Safety (opposite of Cole, will Arnell be ready?) 5. QB (in the event of an injury, is Heidlebaugh ready to step up?) USD will be a handful next fall.
  22. Bend, feet, athleticism. I'd be shocked if he's not being recruited as an OL. Just my opinion. Take it at face value.
  23. Markert has to be an OL project. He cannot play DL.
  24. They didn't ignore, but they certainly dicked around with it long enough to allow the Big Sky to get their foot in the door. If the Summit/MVFC had proactive leadership, they probably would have locked up UND before the Big Sky came in. It makes perfect sense. Baseball affiliate or otherwise, it still would have been and still is in the Summit/MVFC best interest to go after UND and strengthen themselves long term in the name of self-preservation, especially from a geographic standpoint/travel partnership. Douple's idiocy and Patty's lack of vision prevented that though. Don't you agree that instead of speculation about going after a Division 2 Mankato, the easiest problem-solving measure to secure the future of the leagues is to go after UND instead? All propaganda aside? I know I'm asking a lot here, but I'm trying to give it a chance.
  25. We are not recruiting him.
