  1. For how much?.... Whats the annual gate revenue for womens hockey? Trick question.
  2. Fact is: womens hockey was looked at as a legitimate possibility of being cut this time around. The numbers worked from a title 9 perspective in conjunction with other mens sports (not including mens basketball, which is ridiculous to even mention). Because it didnt get cut now doesnt mean it shouldnt have, nor does it mean it wont be on the chopping block in the next 5 years when budget cuts are revisited again soon. Instead of doing what is necessary for the long term betterment of UND Athletics all at once, we employed the little dutch boy for the near future.
  3. Mens wrestling? How many schollies did they have cratter? And again, how did UND do it from 1972 until mens wrestling was dropped in 1999?
  4. I am absolutely amazed that UND was able to operate as an athletics department and be title 9 compliant prior to womens hockey being added as a sport. How did they do it from 1972 until the addition of womens hockey?
  5. I do know the realities of Title IX. I also know that it was more than doable if we chose to do it. Are you saying that it wasn't an option because of Title IX?
  6. Mens sports were getting cut no matter what. Understood. Which ones was the question. Womens hockey and some combo of mens sports would have been easy to do on the calculator for finances and title 9.....now and in the future. This does nothing for the long term. I have a bad feeling one of these press conferences will need to happen again in the near future because we didnt do it right the first time. And that bugs the hell out of me.
  7. They would have ZERO problem with that if they did it right. Faison's not big on doing things right though...the first time.
  8. So why not womens hockey again?...
  9. I'd set the line at 1.5....
  10. It's ok that you have an opinion. It's also ok that you're wrong...
  11. Nobody can tell me that at minimum, Will Ratelle can't do what Heath Farwell has done over his career in the NFL. I believe hes more physically talented than Farwell ever was coming out of college. He's also a smart football player with instincts.
  12. I agree. I also added to your post.
  13. Thanks, Ok, so what is the current Midco coverage for the state of ND? Is Midco all the way out in central and western ND? Or primarily the I-29 corridor? I do realize you have to have Midco to get the games, which is part of the problem in the first place with the current deal in my opinion. Hence, my wish to have a statewide network deal.
  14. What I would like to see is a statewide football broadcast for every game on a network station like ABC (WDAZ, WDAY,other affiliates etc). Keep the hockey TV agreement as is and have the basketball games on midco like they do now. Is this impossible to do? Am I asking for a miracle? We need to get back to our roots in ND for TV games. I really hope our Big Sky Eversport Internet broadcasts aren't the holdup. Someone educate me please?
  15. This would be a deal breaker in my opinion. UND would and should ask for some small revenue deal (relatively speaking). If not, then I could certainly understand UND saying no given all the variables.
  16. I dont disagree with your assertion about new startup Big 10 hockey programs. That's the funny thing. That's not the short term or long term fix for THEIR current hockey problems. Even funnier is that they dont even seem to comprehend that. Revered Minnesota hockey guys like Lou Nanne and Brian Lawton have said as much publicly. You cant manufacture passion and tradition for a sport. It's organic and takes history and a certain culture and geography to become real. Nobody can tell me any of these projected startups will provide any solutions. Nobody will travel for hockey like UND does. Nobody will care about the rivalries like they do with UND. Not Nebraska, not Iowa, not ASU, not Rutgers. I guess I'm not debating what your saying isn't true, rather that the reasoning and logic is fatally flawed for the Big 10. The money grab doesnt fix their inherent problems. They would rather have tv markets than a good product that is well attended by passionate college hockey fans.
  17. We are talking about college hockey....and fanbases.....and tradition....and rivalries.....and attendance.... The exact problems the BIG 10 has right now. UNO does nothing to fix that. Specifically relative to UND. It would be a terrible decision for the Big 10 to take UNO over UND. But I guess that's my opinion again.
  18. I just think any financial investment/share by the Big 10 to UND for hockey would yield an ROI in spades back to them. BTW - what is the midco payment?
  19. I think that's just one of the concessions that a smart AD in our position would ask for. Not equal share. Just a respectable amount. That would be incumbent upon any intelligent AD. If not, no deal. Maybe I'm giving our AD too much credit here and making outrageous assumptions?...
  20. Honest to gawd, if UNO gets offered over UND I will have nothing to do but laugh at the Big 10 and their leadership. That would be completely irrational and make zero sense in my opinion. UNO should be the 5th option, not the first.
  21. If this is about hockey and strengthening their weaknesses, the Big 10 should definitely call UND for an affiliate membership and we would be stupid not to take it. It makes a ton of sense for both sides. However, like others here are saying, I do not believe they have not reached out to UND, nor will they. As others here have also said, all signs point to ASU unfortunately.
  22. All of this^^^^ And more efficient spring recruiting time for the staff.
  23. The final sentence of the article: "Czerwiec is an associate professor of English at UND." That part absolutely shocked me.....
  24. Agree 100%. I stopped listening and reading years ago. Dont give him what he wants.
  25. Only thing missing from this program now is a good in-game manager and coach that teaches solid fundamentals and gets the most out of his players - makes them overachieve. These tight, end of the game results are always the same. Always have been. I am excited about the talent of this team next year. Just need someone to get the most out of it.
