  1. This is patently false. I know from first hand experience. Football players loved the logo and name and took great pride in it. Just because it wasn't prominently displayed on the jerseys doesn't mean we didnt "embrace" it. The word "Sioux" was used in practice, on gameday, during offseason training and in everyday social interactions with great pride by coaches and players alike. We wore shirts that said "Sioux Football" and had the logo on the front. We loved it. Football jerseys and hockey jerseys are different in style in that you rarely see a big logo on the front of a football jersey. There's no room because there is a number on the front. In hockey there is no number in front and primarily there is a logo or name prominently displayed. It is what hockey does - always have at most levels. Typically on football jerseys you see the name of the school or the nickname (in smaller font) above the number. UND football incorporated the logo the best they could with it right below the neck line in the 2000's. They also had the word "Sioux" on the shoulder of the road whites before the jackasses at the NCAA decided to get into the social engineering business. They have always had the ND logo on the helmet for traditional reasons. I agree it would have been awesome to have the logo on the helmet too but the tradition was the ND logo. That logo is now gone as well. So now they are placing the new ND logo on their helmet because quite frankly, they need something to put on there. This notion that football didnt "embrace" the nickname and logo is simply not true.
  2. Again forgive me....but "football only group"? Who are these people? I literally know none.
  3. Like others have said already, put the number on the other side of the helmet opposite of the ND Hawk
  4. So Karl Goehring too then.....Got it....
  5. Interesting....will have to keep my eyes and ears open for that one...
  6. Alums, stakeholders, former athletes.... The people that exercised their ability to vote for the name. I am not a fan of the name either, but it was voted on by those that chose to vote.
  7. Post of the year. Truth and facts. Especially the last sentence.
  8. Can you tell me who you are referring to when talking about "anti-hockey folks"? I can't think of one person on here or otherwise that is "anti-hockey", but I guess I could be wrong. Did hyperbole get the best of you here? I do respect the emotion and passion on the topic, but do not believe that anyone here that is a fan of The University of North Dakota is "anti-hockey".
  9. Sorry for butting in, but I can answer this one.... He's not a UND Hockey or UND Football or UND Basketball or UND Volleyball etc fan... He's a fan of the University of North Dakota. Wish we had more like him.

  11. Football used the Sioux logo on their jerseys in the 2000's on the neck line in the middle of the front of the jersey most recently. I'm actually ok with this. A smaller shoulder logo will no doubt happen though. North Dakota on the front is fine, like football.
  12. I'm actually probably with you on the decision to retire the ND logo that football used - dont think it was necessary. I was also with you on the Sioux nickname and logo. But Bubba didn't retire either of them and the situation is what it is. How do you handle the adversity moving forward. Again, there's 2 ways to do it. The quote was: "Bubba is embracing it. You gonna tell him he is wrong?" You said "Yes, I'd tell him he's wrong in a respectful way." That's not negative towards Bubba and his decision-making?
  13. Bubba's not doing it prominently either for football. He's simply replacing the ND logo that was taken away from him with the current ND logo. It wont be displayed prominently on the jerseys any time soon and will remain "North Dakota" there too. So how would that be any different from hockey?
  14. Because whether you, or I, or anyone else like the logo and nickname or not doesn't really matter in the big scheme of things. Is the Sioux name and logo way better?....no question. But we are who we are - The University of North Dakota. No name or logo (good, bad, or indifferent) will change what UND means to me and has meant to me throughout my entire life. So, why did Bubba do it now? Because he is a LEADER and he wants to try be as positive as he can be with moving on from this disaster that has been. You can do it one of two ways - Bubba has chosen to do it this way, like always. Our other Bubba is in a unique situation to be part of a positive solution as well and move forward. I'm not telling anyone they have to like the new nickname and/or logo. I'm just asking that they LOVE UND (like Bubba).
  15. Probably not....but you sure as hell will make your point by financially hurting the teams and university you love. (high five) And that's really what we all want here.....to stick it to UND the best way we can. I'm still trying to figure out more ways that we can hurt UND....be right back....
  16. How big of a trolling rube you are - that's funny.
  17. (sigh)....
  18. Correct... And you are welcome to have your opinion on this topic. However, in this case your opinion happens to be wrong. Logic and corroboration has been used over and again to come up with my (and others here) opinion that Jones is coaching for his job this year, which is more than justified.
  19. This is as 100% factual as it gets on here. No debate necessary.
  20. Junior, Soph, Junior, Senior... ....redshirt freshman.... And Holm will be an incoming true freshman. Sounds like Randolph will start at corner as well. This is all but ensures Randolph redshirts regardless of where he plays. I also think unless Holm blows everyone away or injuries call for it, he redshirts now. I have always thought he would play next year before this transpired. Not necessarily a bad thing.
