The Gopher fans are half right. They did get a lot of help from the stripes. If you ask me, I think their complaints about Sheperd are null and void because of how much they benefitted from them tonight (and probably will tommorrow barring a miracle). As for the overrated chants and the stick salute, I highly doubt it. Gopher fans are arrogant and they do obnoxious things at times, but they are classier than that. One thing is certain though: If the Gophers lose tommorrow, expect Taylor to make runs on and try to pick a fight with Murray and/or Bina.

Didn;t Murray shoot the first shot and Parise scored on the rebound or was that Stafford?

My thoughts on tonights game: First Period: Zach really did a great job of putting us on the board early jumping on the rebound. Why? Because he did something I've been yelling for SOMEONE on the SIoux to do ALL SEASON LONG: RUSH THE NET. Gophers equalized on a Power play goal which, in all honesty, was given to them by Prpich. True, they play was set up right and it was a great pass by Vanek, but hey, if the Gophers don't score on a 1:40 5x3 power play, they might as well roll over anyways. 1st Intermission: NEVER have I seen that happen to a rink. I could actually see the line where the chunk broke off. However, I would have never thought it would happen at the Mariucci. That place, Kohl Center, and the Ralph I would consider as being too well kept to have that happen. Must have been a fluke. There was real concern we would lose TV coverage for the WIld game at one point. For once I'm happy with FSN for sticking to the college game. 2nd Period: What can I say? Well, this was the Gophers period. Vanek scored on a beauty. The Gophers won a LOT of faceoffs, beat us to the puck more times than I could count, and generally did a great job. Greyeagle, sagard, WPoS, and gang: Is Tayler this much of a thug usually? The guy beats up Murray (wow, good for him ), spears Bochenski, and acts like a total loser on the ice. Surely he can't be this much of a John Scott wannabe? I would think Lucia had higher recruiting standards. Third Period: This is the period of the Sioux domination. 3 unanswered goals by Porter, Prpich, and Bochenski (not in that order). This is the period that made me scream at the officials. The AR that desires a pink slip should get it. Derek Sheperd isn't protecting our players (but why should he if he'd only get a slap on the wrist by Daddy Sheperd?). Taylor spears Bochenski and Genoway stickchecks Stevens (?) and Genoway draws the penalty. Yup, that's justice for you. In any case, we fought back a game that, judging by the energy levels, the Sioux could very well have lost. Brandt was the player of the game and he deserves to be. He was UNBELIEVABLE in net. Played through two cheap shots, getting an elbow by Vanek to the mask that knocks it off and then a glancing blow to the head by I believe either Vanek's knee or part of his skate. He did an excellent job today and kept us in the game. Greene had a good game. murray, Parise, Potulny, Vanek, Bochenski, and Vanek had good games too. Bina had moments. I'll add more as I find it.

Then doing the math you'd know that over time I have made no profit. Or you could say I'm saying GIMME GIMME GIMME $$$$$

I see the Gopher/Sioux/Badger rivalry to be something of a weird thing and hard to explain, but here's my take. The fact that a lot of U of M fans say that UW is their #1 fan is because UW plays U of M in most of their sports already (Basketball, football, hockey, probably volleyball too). The fact that that is the case would put more fans of U of M putting weight on that rivalry than just hockey (eliminating all of the other sports and just listing hockey). Therefore, I would expect Minny fans to list UW as their top rival and not the Sioux. However, historically in HOCKEY ALONE, I would argue that Gophers/Sioux is a very large rivalry.

Of course I'm interested, but I have no money.

Questions: 1. Will PCM be in attendance? 2. If So, can we expect a recap?

I heard that NDSU had a golden opportunity and they blew it. Here's the story I heard: When the North Stars left to head to Dallas, the place where they played in Minneapolis closed down and was scheduled for destruction. Before they did so, they put the refridgeration plant and all the equipment necessary to produce an ice rink up for sale. It was offered to NDSU and plans were distributed to architects of the FargoDOme to facilitate its installation. NDSU and gang got a really good price but turned it down. No idea what happened to the equipment or even if this story I was told was remotely true Edit: It was the NDSU president before Chapman that turned it down.

Don't be too concerned about that. It seems like a lot of us are getting midgets in the WCHA in the next year or two. Oh btw, John Scott is going to have a wingmate at MTU to help him along in his thuggery. Axtell is 6'5 225 or there abouts (+/- 10 lbs). But MTU, Gophers, and we are getting short guys. But ours is 1 inch taller (the others are all listed at 5'5")

I'd love to participate but I don't know how to skate. Hopefully someone will be there to take pictures so at least I can see the fun after it happens.

I guess I haven't heard enough of Woog to ever HEAR him be this impartial. The fact about Briggs holds little salt due to the audience that reads him and his affiliation with the Gophers. Dissing a freshman goaltender who has been put in a place that he really shouldn't have to be in this year is a tough burden to carry for the guy. In this manner Woog simply calls it impartially enough not to truly diss the Sioux goaltending situation but still give a small pat on the back to what Briggs has done this season. No, I argue that Briggs has not defeated the most good opponents, having tied BU and beaten UNH as tough opponents that come to my mind. Parise has beaten UMD, UMN (I think), BC (something Brandt didn't do this season), SCSU, and DU (me thinks). However, Briggs isn't on a team like the Sioux. On paper, however, Briggs should be in a similar situation as Parise because of the depth of the Gophers. So, I'll give the kid some kudos for doing as much as he has in awkward times in Gopher-land. It won't be enough to defeat the Sioux twice in a row, but who are they going to turn to? JJ? I'm sure BB hopes so.

I agree with jloos about the staying but I heard somewhere that the AHL and ECHL would have a limited schedule. And my brother went to Latvia this summer. He was shocked at what he saw in hockey culture there... of course, the number one non-native nationality is Canadian! In any case, I doubt they'd go there.

Noterman scores the 6th goal for the east! Spiewak was on the ice but did not get an assist Edit: That would be the Game Tying Goal thus far. East has scored 3 unanswered goals since going down 6-3

If BB wins the Hobey, what would that do to people like Happy?
-
Voted. Had trouble voting for 3rd choice.
-
If they blow the whistle automatically when a helmet comes off, why is this a penalty? The play should be dead before anyone has the opportunity to play the puck

Top Picture: Bottom row. Bottom Picture: Not so easy. Girl in the center perhaps.

Problem is, so far, Vanek's idea of defense is cross checking, interference, slashing, tripping, holding, and other assorted 2 minute specialties.
-
Think Jarod Ross' totals... in half the games.

I agree. We are strong, but we face the Goofers this weekend. Lucky for us we have Mankato as a beffer between the Goofers and the BADgers or I'd say the season would be decided in these two weeks. If we sweep MN and UW I think we can then talk about our position in the polls. If we split either or both, we're not out of it yet. If we get swept....

BSU beat UMD..... JJ may not last against that CHA powerhouse

O-Player of the week: Parise or Vannek or who?

On INCH it was someone from LSSU. On USCHO it was someone from Yale I think? -
I'm surprised the sign passed inspection
