  1. The Gophers tied on Saturday because BU gave them the game. Period. They were up 4-2 (I watched during the radio broadcast. Fun to do that. Visual-Gophers, Audio- Sioux) and as soon as BU gave up the shorthanded goal I knew that BU would at best tie. Yes, they were even still up 4-3 when I said that. BU looked really really bad. Even the Gophers announcers stated that there were 5 5hole goals in Saturday's contest. 5 hole is the LAST place a goalie should be beat, EVER. Poor goaltending by JJ and SIwiec. 20 goals in two games. REALLY REALLY BAD Goaltending. Lucia HAS to name Briggs starter. There is no one else who can possibly stop all the shots the Gophers are giving up. I think he gave up 1 goal on Saturday and that's it. He did much better than JJ. Also, those jerseys they were wearing were hideous. That gold. My god.
  2. Let's be fair towards Fox Sports North! I just watched a commercial that said something to the effect of "Minnesota First." Ok, that means that they favor Minnesota over ND and anywhere else. No, that doesn't make them impartial, but they at least admit that they have a bias. They are Gopher TV, but they are not denying it. THey are admitting it. Edit: The saying is "Where Minnesota fans come first."
  3. It is bush league but let me propose this: Do you think the REA should return the favor? I mean, what course of action should the REA and the UND AD take? As for SCSU's reasoning, here's some irony. This practice of not televising homegames because they are not sold out is not a new philosophy. Who, mind you, practices this as well? Why, no one other than the Chicago Blackhawks. Chicago residents can only view Blackhawk games in two major ways: Go see them life at home, or wait for the Blackhawks to go on the road so it will be televised. Interesting that the Sioux broadcasts are polar oposites. Go see them live or watch the broadcast when they are at home, or buy a webcast when they are away.
  4. I only listened to the overtime (Darn family) but I noticed that a lot of Sioux players were falling down. Could someone give me an idea of what was up with that? I also heard Anderson was the ref. How'd he do? Dagies, thanks for the recap. It made it a lot more worthwhile to those of us who were unable to listen or watch the game.
  5. Will this have any impact over student presence in the arena? Is there any benefits at all to UND with this development?
  6. I don't believe it is because we felt that we deserved Chucko to be on our team. We followed Chucko because he has UND connections (Zajac and Murray) and that UND was recruiting him. We also like to know what to expect potential wise from our rivals, which is why I appreciate UMDDogz and the UM crew that comes and posts here (WPoS, Greyeagle, sagard). They give us valuable insight to their teams. It's always refreshing to hear different viewpoints too.
  7. Of course, I'll disagree. Oklahoma is a great team but something's missing that USC has: Conference championship. USC won the PAC 10 conference. Oklahoma got whooped by KSTATE! Yeah, KState is a pretty good team, one of the best UNRANKED teams out there. However, I think USC and Oklahoma should get to play each other, or at the very least, USC vs the winner of the Sugar Bowl (LSU/UO). So I'll disagree and say that USC does indeed get a share of the NC. As for what will change with BCS. I heard that the contract is up in 2 years and this is what I believe will happen. Unless DRASTIC changes are made to the /bowl system/ (not necessarily the ranking system), PAC 10 will be the first to get the hell out of the BCS. They nearly did it a few years ago and now I don't see a reason short of major changes that would prevent them from opting out of the BCS system when it is up for renewal. They will get together with some of the smaller conferences (whatever conference hosts Marshall, NIU, etc.) and try to woo other not so major conferences like the ACC and SEC into their own system which will most likely be a playoff system. Of course, this is all guesswork. No idea what will happen but I'm fairly confident that, as it stands now, you won't see any PAC 10 team in a BCS bowl in 3 years.
  8. No problem. Making people laugh (and pissing people off) is seemingly what I'm good at around here.
  9. The question was not a joke, I was honestly curious about how big would a building need to be to house a soccer field. As for actually having the sports as a serious venture, yes, that was a joke.
  10. How big would a building have to be to hold a regulation sized soccer field? Bring in Soccer and then you can also bring in lacross and rugby club teams
  11. Imagine the kegger Rocky will hold with the players if he gets hired!
  12. Eaves get POG? Did I miss something? 1 G 2 assists for Eaves and 3 G 1 Assist for ZPar and Eaves gets POG. Wow. Those points Eaves had musthave been really unbelievable because, in the NCAA, regardless of team or opponent, ZPar would have been Player of the game. 4 points is better than three. Then again, this is just from what I've seen on this board.
  13. Bayda was a healthy scratch
  14. Depression city. I lost the tickets. It is a long story but it ends up me giving them up out of the kindness of my heart. So I am back to square one on seats. I pray I'll be able to get into the lower bowl when the ticket office opens up on Friday. Otherwise, I'm again SOL. Section 109 Damned Christmas spirit and absolute (to a point) stupidity) Sad in Fargo.
  15. We should demand compensation!
  16. Someone should have taped that. Don Cherry acknowledging any hockey team or player that is not Canadian is usually a fluke.
  17. Learned something big today. $25 for a day pass (2 games) and $40 for a tourney pass (All games). I got hooked up with tickets both days so I'll be there for both Saturday games and Sunday late afternoon game. Won't make the early afternnon game because of family time. But anyways... I'm in Section 109 Row Q
  18. I believe that 100 percent. Goaltending is indeed USA's weakness. Canada's Fleury has NHL experience, which is much rougher than WJC (one would assume). As much as I'd hate to break up Murray and Parise, I really think Parise should be on a higher line than he is. Maybe second line. I don't know, really. When Eaves was in town, Parise outworked him. Kinda think that should mean something.
  19. Didn't Mike Commodore come from Olds?
  20. Funny, when I think about hockey I think about Messier, Gretzky, Lemieux, Howe, and such. I think about great goals and saves. Brawls are merely an afterthought. My mom doesn't know squat about hockey and she doesn't think of it as a fight except for the stereotype, "There was a fight and a hockey game broke out." So, with Reality TV and the Cohen brothers making a great deal of money off of stereotypes, typecasting, and morons, these guys just want to get in on the $$$
  21. It's better to be very careful. Remember David left UND with that kidney condition. I'm not a medical person by any means, but could the flu possibly aggravate that condition or at least weaken the immune system so that something else could?
  22. Good article on Panzer in the Sioux Illustrated issue. Quennville said that Jeff has a future with the Blues. He's scored over 20 goals in each of the past two seasons in the AHL.
  23. Eep, I forgot about Rylan Kaip (F) who is coming in in 2004 for the Sioux so, there are more than just 3 coming in. Dogz, Isaac won't be drafted. It isn't very common (despite recent drafts) to see a goaltender get drafted. They usually are recruited by NHL teams and signed as free agents. Good example: Ed Balfour. He was not drafted and instead was signed by the Blackhawks as a free agent.
  24. Tickets are pricey and there are no student tickets That means I can only choose one game to watch I think it will have to be Findlay vs UND although I'd love to watch the Brown vs UND game should it happen.
  25. I don't care as long as it doesn't come here. Major Juniors is so high on fighting, then maybe it should be held in Canada. Or just have it in Las Vegas or Atlantic City. You don't really need a hockey rink for this event. Just ice. Who really cares about the conditions of the ice as long as you could theoretically skate on it
