  1. Which bridge?
  2. Dude! That Braun guy has a really bad toupe'!!
  3. Never claimed they were perfect. Only that those cheers looked like fun.
  4. Greyeagle, I say panic of BSU manages to get 2 more goals tonight. If they tie or win, your season is over!
  5. Despite those naughty cheers, I have to say two things: Two cheers briefly shown on TV looked like fun. One had peope rocking back and forth and the other had them all jumping. The second thing is that their band is GOOOOOOD. I hope our band eventually sounds that tight. Ok folks, prepare for the 2nd period. UW will show up this period. I'm sure of it.
  6. Japan has an Olympic HOckey Team?
  7. Oy, these next series (UND vs UW, CC, and UMD) are NOT going to be good on my stress levels...
  8. Back when SSM came to the Ralph, I talked to a relative or a close friend of Toews. He's definitely Major Juniors bound unless he has changed his mind since last semester.
  9. I'm wondering if Dahl was in the same situation as Eaves, what would he have replied? fumble as it may, I think it was a good reply.
  10. We've gotta be in the top 5 in the WCHA, if not the NCAAs in number of times we've been down 2. We're certainly among the most penalized teams in the NCAAs altogether.
  11. Sorry for trying to help folks. I was just relating what I knew from my days when I had a choice between cable and DSL and what the reps from both told me. I now know better than to contribute. Deleted the post.
  12. Both Zach and Jordan made runner up for Offensive and Defensive POTW on USCHO. The guy who beat out Zach just evidentally had a better weekend than Zach did. Miami's goalie, Crawford-West, got defensive honors because he stopped 61 of 63 shots on the weekend. That's impressive too. I have a feeling that Jordan's claim to the award was much closer contested than Zach's based on the info provided. http://www.uscho.com/potw/?data=1m
  13. I am hoping (against hope?) that PCM can make it to this so we could have a USCHO-style game recap posted here. Post game reactions, a box score, the works. That would be really really cool. When all the information is together, please post it all here or PM me with it so I can pass it to my friend who can serve as a player if not an alternate. I'll handle the costs involved. Thanks.
  14. Easy enough to figure out. If it features the ECAC or Hockey East (especially Hockey East), they'll show it. If it doesn't, they'll show "Real TV" or "You Gotta See This" reruns.
  15. Brandt is the man at least on Friday night. Going by what happened last week, I would not be surprised to see Jake between the pipes on both nights.
  16. We talked about that too. Forgot to put it in the post. We said that whatever the band is required to do in terms of when and when not to play should apply to Scott. We talked about how more technology and what is said needs to be less commercial and more student oriented. He's going to mention it. He didn't like Hennin hogging up the talk during puck play either. Who knows if anything will come by it
  17. According to the CSTV vote polls (one on the main site and one on the hockey site) UND has been picked to win the national championships... Here's the makeup: UND is the hockey team most likely to win the NC this year on the hockey site and 2nd to Duke among all college athletics as most likely to bring hom the NC. Interesting enough, on the hockey site, the second most votes in that category went to Minnesota. For an eastern tv channel, quite interesting.
  18. I didn't talk about the standing issue. I did that early last semester. It's an argument that goes nowhere. It was either have reserved seating and sit down rule or move to the corner and lose 50-150 seats. We'd've gotten screwed either way.
  19. Don't get me started on ESPN
  20. Hi folks, just got out from the meeting with Adam Baker. What he told me is the lowdown on things. I didn't accuse him or the Prez of anything, I just sat down and asked him for clarification on what Kupchella has against the students at athletic events. What he told me was interesting. Kupchella is NOT responding to the letters UNA and WSU fans have sent to the University. Those letters are just fuel to the fire. Kupchella has, evidentally, been sitting on this since the Gophers series last November. Apparently the fans started chanting "F#CK the Gophers" when Charles Kupchella and both ND and MN Governor's were in the penalty box with AD Roger Thomas. I mentioned to Adam Baker that, although it was a classless time to chant that, what the students say is protected by the first amendment. He did not dispute it, but he did ask why the students couldn't have waited until they had at least left the penalty box before starting the chant. I had to agree that chanting that to the MN Governor isn't exactly a classy thing to do. We then talked about what could be done to better things at the Ralph atmosphere wise. I told Adam that the students feel wronged as a whole by the Univeristy, AD, and the REA since the Old Ralph closed. I told him the predominant feeling that is pervading the student section that is saying that because we have to sit down, we have to shut up. Although that isn't the case, I still get the opinion that that is what everyone percieves the establishment wishing by establishing the sit down rule. Adam Baker noted that the students have been more than good about following the rules put down by the administration in this matter. We talked about the technology at the Ralph. I brought up your points about the song lyrics and stuff. He told me that, when he brought that up, Roger Thomas took the blame for neglecting that. There are plans to put up a similar display during the Sieve chant that the Pepsi Center in Denver does when Colorado scores a goal. There will be waves of water that run around the marquis with the words "SIEVE" either along the wave or on the jumbotron. They are working on the lyrics bit. When I mentioned the student suite thing, he didn't know much about it. That promise, I think, was made before he became student body president so I didn't hold it against him. There will be a student appreciation day on March 5th against MTU where there will be free food for students and a variety of other things as well. This will hopefully turn into an annual event. I told him that this was a good first step, but there needs to be more, even if the changes are subtle. I told him that words are cheap and that actions speak volumes and that is what the students expect. I told him that we don't want statements because the statements would only be taken as a statement, not as an actual plan of action with some weight behind it. I told him about other universities and their vulgarity (I mentioned Cornell, Harvard, SCSU, Wisconsin, and Michigan). And said that it happens everywhere. I warned Adam about what "making examples" would do to the atmosphere, and he interrupted me to say that he didn't think that it would be wise for Pres Kupchella to take such actions. I don't know if there is any heed to that by Kupchella, but Adam HAS spoken against that part of the statement Kupchella made. He also said that Kupchella is going to go before the Sioux boosters and city council later on to talk about fan conduct at the games. I am not sure what will come out of this but I was assured that students would not lose their seats or anything like that out of this. However, it was inferred that racial slurs will be viewed as disorderly conduct and grounds for removal. We did not talk about how this was going to be enforced because it isn't clear exactly what action Kupchella wants to take as of yet. Also, expect a contest sponsored by Student Government regarding chants, making up creative ones that are not vulgar. I told him that it would be a good thing to do with expected mixed results, but the image is important and maybe something good will come out of it. The results will be displayed for chanting over the marquis. I told Adam that the newspaper thing of years past wouldn't work so no props would be acceptable as a replacement for the chant of "Who's He..." We both agreed that chanting needs to continue, but some of the chants needs to be cleaned up. We only differed in opinion of whether or not we can stop it using administrative action. He believes it has to come entirely from whoever is sitting next to the offending people, to tell them not to say such things that are offensive. I believed that it came from ownership in the arena. If fans take pride that they have some sort of modicum of control over at least their portion of the arena, even if it isn't absolute, things will change over time. That's the gist of the meeting folks.
  21. I heard POI fans eat kittens just kidding
  22. I read the article and it appears to be more a reaction to football than hockey, folks. I am meeting with Adam Baker today to discuss this and find out the full story. There was no action planned and I really do not see how he could unless the fans were caught hurling racial slurs as well as other garbage of the physical nature... Lawyers out thtere help me out, at a privately owned public school sponsored facility (REA) can either entity control freedom of speech? Getting rid of obscenities is nice, but not really possible due to these laws (if it wasn't for the Alaska series, I would have gone since BC since I uttered a swear word at a hockey event). I am not going to go to Baker and complain about Kupchella or say he's a dork. I need to be constructive here folks, but if you have any questions or concerns, I'll check the board before I go to the meeting at 12:15.
  23. My mistake. It happened so fast.
  24. There is a President's luncheon for non traditional students. I think the Presient's BBQ still exists but he only shows up for maybe 10 minutes, or just long enough to be noticed and perhaps say a few words. Who has he pleased? not sure, but I think it would be ND state board of Higher Ed who is happy with him. And the problem is, they would be dissatisfied if enrollment went down... SO, the success of UND right now for enrollment (regardless of the fact that he has nothing to do with it) is benefitting him the most. And Baker was a great guy. I kept in touch with him after he left UND for a while.
