I guess I am not as anti-any team in the WCHA. I guess I am one of those people who loves the fact that his team is in the best conference in the nation. I sometimes even get naive enough to say that our worst team is better than ECAC, AH, CHA, and half of HEA combined. I hold my conference above the East. sagard, I feel the same way you do about UW with BC and Maine, though especially Maine. I also feel that ESPN has no integrity and is a sports giant who doesn't even hold to its own credo.

Today's UMN vs MSU-M game apparently got 22 penalties against the Gophers and 14 against the Mavericks. 36 penalties total. Has there there ever been more called in a WCHA game since the days of Dachsychyn and Archibald?
-
I got dragged to Manomen so I didn't get to listen to the game at all. Could someone explain the 2nd period to me? 2 goals on 5 shots yikes. I see Zach got on the board! 2G 2A! Was the mugging down? Bina got a pair of assists! Nice. We also kept Conners off the board. Anyways. thanx ahead of time.

In case anyone was wondering, the Wild recalled a different defenceman than Roche after Walz went down with the injury. This defenceman is 3-9-12 -14 at Houston. Roche was 2-12-14 -3. What does this mean? If there was doubt that Roche wasn't done with the Wild, I think it is very apparent now. I try to keep positive about most things, but I hate it when teams say one thing and then do another. Roche was slapped in the face with one hand while the other was patting him on the back.

Maybe this is out of line, but I think it would be really cool if they did some sort of pregame thing when we face UW. Having UW's WJC players and coach out on the ice with UND's 3. Very nice. Probably won't happen, but it would have been cool.

Gifford was the player I heard to watch at Moorhead but I was told that he's missed most of the first half of the season due to mononucleosis (sp?). Nevertheless I am told he has great size and he is a potential 5th round draft pick ahead of Kyle Radke should he opt into the draft this year.
-
Maybe so, but Melrose is, in one way or another, connected to Hockey, therefore my reference isn't as bad as Ric Flair.
-
Everything is relative. I could argue that Kevin Sorbo (Hercules or that retarded Captain from Andromeda) was the best thing to come out of MSU- Moorhead and maybe I'd be right, but that still doesn't make him a great actor

Radio for me. Didn't buy the webcast and, from the sounds of it, I'm happy I didn't.
-
You guys don't remember Fruit Loops and Toucan Sam's slogan. "Just Follow your nose." I believe Melrose describes good hockey instincts as having a good "nose for the game." I think my humor is far to abstract. I should just quote of Adam Sandler and Jim Carey.
-
You don't really need a sense of smell to play hockey! However, being that his nose is a mite crooked, let's hope he is not Toucan Sam!

I agree with MNS. Gosh I don't know what's up with MTU, but I alwasy thought very highly of Mr Elsworth. He handled us pretty well on the Saturday game. I suspect it will be Luker on Friday and Elsworth on Saturday. I think it will be JPar Friday and Brandt on Saturday.

I remember the only fond moment in the band that I had was at the Old Ralph. I can't remember who we were playing (I THINK it was UMD) but we started playing nanananana heyheyhey goodbye on the second game when it was sure we were going to sweep and then having some old ladies wearing UMD shirts (I know it was either UMD or UMN because it was maroon and gold. Since I don't remember the arena being full, I assume it was UMD) came over to Brooks (the director) and started yelling at him for being so "rude and inconsiderate."

I think the situation next season is going to be interesting. I mean, who do you start? JP is doing a great job. JB is doing good too. NZ has great potential. PL does too. I mean, the question is: what do you do when you have 4 potentially #1 goalies on your team?
-
I have a friend who has connections to the Bismarck Bobcats. She told me that of the Lamoureax brothers not taken by any teams thus far, the defenseman brother (I think the youngest?) is really good.
-
What's the Hobey Baker? And who is BB? Borrowed Bucks? j/k all. Seriously, too soon!

I find it also interesting that Stafford is ranked above Booth and also that he is the first non major juniors player that would be taken in the draft. If he stays out of the draft this year, he could break top 5 in 2005 draft. As for Zajac becoming a Devil, hard to say. I think he has a better opportunity of becoming a Devil than Stafford does. Also on the list are Brian Gifford of Moorhead High, a few Salmon Arm products, a few Lincoln products. I THINK Gifford is slated for 5th round. Anyone know about this guy? I talked to a person today saying that Dean has been to Moorhead High to look at the team, but nothing on specifics. (edited) As for our friend Chucko, he's slated to be the first overall pick in the 3rd round.

I think Blais and the AD will find loopholes in the matter. There is nothing written stating that a student of any type cannot retake the ACT. So the obvious loophole is provisional admission to the University that would state that the athlete (in this case) would be admitted to the University on a sort of limited academic probation that specifies that, unless the ACT is retaken and a score of 22(?) or greater is achieved by the end of the student's freshman year, the student will be ruled academically ineligible until the ACT score is at its required level. And it would make sense to implement this for any and all recruits coming in in 2005 or later.

I agree with Sicatoka. We have it good. On USCHO, they posted what has happened to (I believe) Michigan State's student section. They are now forced to sit just like us. I think Michigan or BC lost its center ice seats to alumni. We do have it pretty good. We just don't have a clear cut answer about the standing issue. Roger Thomas told me that there are times during the game when we are actually supposed to stand up, but he hasn't told the student body that at all. Instead, Student President Baker tells all of us on Gopher weekend that we have been "behaving well and to remember to stay seated" (or something to that effect as I was in Chicago during that series ). The atmosphere is returning. On a slight tangent, I don't think I like the Betty arena already because, from what I heard in the Coaches show, they will only be using it to play preseason games in it and use the larger Ralph for the conference games. What a load of @#$%.

Not very informed at all. But then again, he's probably bitter and discouraged after seeing SI.com's new poll. NDSU Football popularity among state residents: 13% UND MEN'S HOCKEY Popularity among state residents: 19% You can't tell me 19% of those polled were in Grand Forks. If that were so, the NDSU number would be MUCH lower. BTW- Michigan has 9 NCs. UND has 7. UMN has 5. BC has at least 2, at most 4. In hockey anyways Of the schools Bison1234 listed, Michigan is probably the ONLY school with an athletic department that is dangerous in all major college sports. BC is overrated in football Minnesota's basketball team is decent, but their football team is competitive with BC, but basically overrated. You dont have to worry about Minnesota getting a Sugar Bowl berth, because BC will beat them to it. As for BC Basketball, I don't know anything about their basketball team.
-
And here I thought it was spelled "Minysoda" Thank goodness for WPoS and the fan handbook I miss the old arena but only because students had more ownership in the arena and its operations. We owned half the seats in the arena so what we said, went. However, for our athletes, I think the new Ralph has so much to offer them it isn't funny.

Hey folks, I want to say one thing: keep the faith. Looking at what Blais said makes it very easy to get the doomsday belief that Zach is gone after this year. Maybe he will, but maybe he won't. We have to hope that he stays. We can't let ourselves believe that he is going to leave after this season or well, it just isn't right. Keep the faith folks. And if someone on this board, member or visitor, reads this note and knows Zach, let him know we are hoping he stays and battles through the maulings and continues to wow the college crowd.

Everyone is saying that Brandt has a lot of poise and stuff such like that. Of course! Because Brandt has more experience in DI hockey. That's why I'm so impressed with Parise. He's nearly at the same poise as Brandt and he's only a freshman. No, he's not Brandt yet, but you have to admit that he's showing us tremendous potential. Nevertheless, Brandt will be the man in the NCAAs.
-
I don't forsee Blais turning to one goaltender over another until there is solid reason to do so. All recent play aside, JPar still is undefeated in the 10 or 11 games he's played thus far. Not bad. He's also been tested in goal against BC, SCSU, and others and came away with, at worst, a tie. Brandt is more solid fundamentally, but JPar is doing too good to bench. Heck folks, if both goales are good, why not rotate? It worked last season for the Wild and still, Wild goaltending is the only thing going well for the Wild this season. I just don't know what is going to happen to Ziggy or even Lammy when he gets here next season.
-
Flames aside, are you guys kidding me? Going after Murray? WHY? Murray hasn't been mugged very much the entire season! If anyone on the Sioux is going to be cheap shot, it's Parise. Odd because Bochenski is the lead scoring threat. I don't thin the Gophers are all that cheap. They clutch and grab, but the hardly cheap shot like other teams around the NCAA (BC, UAA apparently). When it comes to poor penalties for the Gophers it mostly is due to letting emotions get into the play (Or what Woog would call "Spirited hockey"). Vanek is the best at letting his emotions get the best of him this season, but then again, Vanek isn't a defensive forward to begin with and after getting burned time and time again, he's bound to get frustrated. Tallackson is big and sluggish. Has footwork problems. If you burn him, he grabs ya so that he could keep up. I agree about Vanek and Tallackson. I do not agree about Riddle. Riddle plays pretty fairly and takes what ice time he can get. Ballard is no different, but that's one of the reasons why I think the Gophers are screwed without him. Ballard is the smartest player on the Gophers. PERIOD. So..... WPoS- I concede to that point, but in an ideal situation, one would hope for impartiality. But in our world, anything close would be the best.
