With so many refs to choose from, you'd think that there would be at least one. Campion comes closest, UMD. They all let too much go for the other team and are far to strict on UND. That isn't that bad, really, if you hold the other team to the same standards. None of the refs call equally or consistently. Their version of equal is putting one from each team in the box, which isn't true. And you can't tell me that if someone trips you or hooks you that you are diving if you fall down goalie or not.

As for the penalty minutes, just give us Hunt, Sheperd, and Anderson a few more times and we'll pass Mankato. I'm sure of it.

Off topic, but I don't want to start a new thread just for this: My friend, in Chicago, wants to tune in for Sioux games. I'm sure there is an internet radio feed but I can't find the address for the thing. Can someone let me know what is the address so that I can send it to her?

It's touching to me. My father is a cancer specialist. Even though he doesn't really work with kids, he works really hard to help people like Andrew and such. He knows that community support may not cure cancer, per se, but it does have a tendency to prolong the life of the person afflicted.

Wasn't Scweitzer a Freshman in 97?
-
I think back to the beginning of the season and I see a series that makes me think: Brandt vs BC 0-1 Parise vs BC 1-0 BC is currently ranked #1 and has been #2 for most of the season. Another thing to consider: JPar is a FRESHMAN. Freshman, if I'm not mistaken, tend to make some mistakes their first year and then come out ahead for the most part. This time an opinion: JPar is already doing a lot better against difficult opponents than the previous player who wore #1 (After Goehring graduated, so I'm not talking about Karl here). He's had some bad games, yes. However, I'm not going to cast him in the pile with Siembida. And if I'm wrong, I'll happily delete this post.

I've got a great rubric for the security folks at the Ralph concerning language: If it is clean enough to be put on TV, it's clean enough to yell out at the Ralph. That means words like: butt, suck, crap, damn, pansies, screw, etc. Are all A-OK.

Anyone hear if those who were escorted out would back in?

I think this poll needs to be changed to: Which Arena is better? The New Ralph Pre-Kupchella smack down or The New Ralph Post-Kupchella smack down
-
Kupchella enjoys entertaining the minority instead of standing with the majority. Roger, though siding with Kupchella on the issue, is merely following the stance that his superior has stated. He has had experiences in the past in which he has had to do embarrassing things, he mentioned them in the letter. Kupchella, however, has never really thought of the University as more than just a place that people go to get a degree and get out into the world. It is a business to him. He runs it like a non-proft, waiting for students to graduate and then turning the schmooze on double strong to milk whatever he can out of the more affluent graduates. To respond to tbone: Walking out of a period wouldn't work. Sitting down and shutting up might, but we have to remember who we are trying to harm. We want to take actions of defiance against Kupchella, not harm the Sioux hockey team. Protesting doesn't work. We saw that with the seating issue. It didn't work then and it won't work now. The Upper deck people resent the lower bowl people too much (at least the ones I've talked to). I'm not so sure that they resent us because of our seats as much as they resent the way things have gone at the Ralph concerning reserved seats. Petitions are doable. THe one to Kupchella would be turned in, he'd read the title, and then throw it away. He'd probably state publically that it was "improperly filed" or something. Petitioning Roger Thomas is our best bet. He will not move us, though it is very much worth trying. The two sections on the end have more seats than our current section. Therefore, he rationalized when I talked to him, that he would actually be rewarding the students with more seats. He wasn't about to do that. Probably less so now.

All I can say is: 1) Thank goodness it's my last season in GF. Yeah, I will be around for the first half of next season, but I'm not going to try for season tickets. 2) I am NEVER ever going to give a dime to the UND almuni association as long as Kupchella is in power and as long as the students are treated in this fashion. I may not give a dime to the alumni people regardless of who is President. The atmosphere sucked. However 10 to 1 Kupchella walked out happy. We didn't play well tonight folks. I just wish we could close out a series against a decent opponent for once.

Of these, the likely outcomes to play for the Frozen four, IMO would be: WEST: UND vs UW MIDWEST: Minnesota vs Michigan EAST: Maine vs UMD NORTHEAST: BC vs Miami (Miami with an "upset" over UNH to get there) The worst case scenario would be a FF with 3 WCHA and 1 CCHA teams with my choices. Higly doubtful as I'm sure, even if it does look like this in the second round, BC will make the FF.

Any pictures of the new masks? I didn't get a good look at them. I LOVE goalie masks that are custom painted even for the NHL. I love Cujo's mask as well as Balfours, Dafoes, Cechmanek's, Turco's masks. Don't have a real favorite. I just think they are great pieces of functional artwork

A few notes: 1. Didn't the Sioux win Friday night in Minneapolis and then lose on Saturday? This UMD vs UMN series, thus far, has reminded me of that weekend. I suspect that UMN will win 2-1 or at most by 2 goals. 2. R Potulny should already have redshirted. His injury was serious and even if it was possible for him to come back during the playoffs, how much is the risk worth? The Gophers are a deep team if they can remain focused. If I were Ryan, I'd have redshirted already and focused on next season. Heck, he'd probably have the corner market on WCHA ROTY if not NCAA ROTY award that way. However, if he does redshirt, don't tell Golden Goph. It'd break his heart.

One thing I noticed is that we FINALLY started rushing the net. I loved the aggressiveness today. I hope we can keep it up tommorrow.
-
I thought Bina did pretty good tonight. Very aggressive player, but very good. What he lacked in decision making in the first few games he played, he has improved upon greatly.
-
I did too. Although some of the UNA fans MAY have had some merit to them, this SCSU fan did not. It's no surprise how much SCSU and their fanbase do not like UND, even without the hockey program. That letter should be taken with a grain of salt.

I agree completely. Every time we have crashed the net, we've at least had an opportunity to score. Yes, I know the downside of crashing the net is the possibility of an odd man rush the other way, but we are such a solid defensive team that I think, if we keep our heads in it, we can defend against it or come back from it if the unfortunate happens. I see Stafford, Porter, Massen, Bochenski (who is the only one so far I've noticed crash the net), McMahon, Prpich, and maybe even Fabian could be the answer to who should crash the net. The Detroit Redwings send a big forward to screen the goalie (Tomas Holmstrom) and it works very well. A big forward with some stick handling and awareness skills would be a good idea. And I define big as solid on the stick, good skates under him and such. I think even Murray or Jones could do it, but I'd prefer the Dmen stick out on the blue line.

NHL loses almost $300 million; strike threatened!

I agree completely with one thing to add on the less positive side: Even with NHL on strike, it won't mean ESPN will be picking up college hockey. It just means periodic strike updates and more basketball coverage. It looks like I'll have to save my money now for sure to get hockey on the television because this is the perfect excuse for ESPN to drop all of its limited hockey coverage. -
I wish the SIEVE in the goal crease would catch on, but, as much as I would love to sing it, I doubt people would catch on. If people here are not familiar with the tune, the chances are less likely the others will know it. Anyways, I'm going to chant "Fifth Line Player" or maybe "NON FACTOR." If I can. Since I am trying, and tried almost successfully (DARN UAA series) to eliminate swearing in my cheering, I'll try whatever I hear that people are doing that is not vulgar.

Schmidt now. Schmitt is retired.

This crap spews from someone who said up and down that he/she/it didn't care about hockey. Yet he/she/it posts to the hockey board. Liar. -
Yup. If they gave one to Parise at Wisco, that might have turned the game because he surely would have scored.... or I'd like to think so.
