Timing of that is somewhat determined by conference schedule. USD chose to play their 12th game early in the season while UND and NDSU for example had open weeks in September while USD played straight through.

If that is the rule then so be it. When he released the ball, he released the ball back towards our goal line while moving in the direction of the NDSU goal line. Physics will keep the ball moving horizontally for a bit before it moves to the ground. I would say since the ball was released in opposite direction he was headed that would make sense......but I can understand the interpretation the officials made though
