I know that at times everyone will take a stupid penalty here and there, but it just seems to be an ongoing thing which is why I went through our box scores to make sure it wasn't just in my head.....it wasn't. Most of his penalties are of the roughing, cross checking, and slashing variety.

Hey, I know "battle" penalties are gonna happen and sometimes you take a penalty to prevent a play but 95% of his penalties do not fall into these categories. He took another last night in a 3-1 game and I turned to my brother and said "the puck will be in our net in 38 seconds....I was off by 6 seconds. . The "Hockey Gods" haven't been good to Luke either. He has taken 17 minors this year with one at the 60 minute mark of the game, so in the resulting 16 power plays our opponents are scoring at a 38%(6-16) clip. Also, 6 of his penalties nullified our own power play and 2 were matching penalties so in in actuality our opponents are scoring at a 43% clip when Luke is in the box. We need Luke Johnson in the lineup for sure, but it is going to come back to haunt us at some point if this keeps up.

The guy next to us last night(not the normal ticket holder) hollered "shootscore" "checkem" and "getem" no less than 75 times each. As in we come across the center line and he says "shootscore". If he is there tonight I will be in the bar.

Back when I was at UND(late 80's), which is when NDSU was winning National Club titles, our Intramural hockey team was pretty talented but didn't have the depth to roll 4 lines and 3 pair of D like the Phi Delts did so we would occasionally enlist the services of "ringers", also known as the top line from NDSU's club team.(had a couple good friends who played for them). They said with a straight face that they were pretty confident that their club team could have finished in the top 5 at UND Intramurals.....Club Hockey has come along way since then.

I came away impressed with the WMU team. It is crazy how big and physical they are. Usually when there is a scrum on the ice, it benefits UND as they usually get the better of it and it carries over and gives them a little mental edge....but on Friday night I was like "HEY, break that up!"
