They also must really want the student section to look even emptier than last year. Who cares if non-students take over the student section? If students don't show up, let's still give us a chance to fill the arena. Maybe I'm overreacting, but this decision really pisses me off.

I actually think the Herald was way too slow at instituting the pay wall. Now they have done it too late and for too high a rate rather than slowly ramping it up and attracting better writers with the additional revenue. Here's how I see the conundrum at GFH. 1. They needs better writing(outside of a few exceptions) 2. To get better writing they need to pay more competitively 3. To pay more competitively to attract quality writers they need to increase revenue 3. To justify a pay wall to increase revenue, they need better writers

You know hawks carried diseases that passed along to Native Americans... you can draw a line to connect anything to make a ridiculous argument. This is so absolutely insane to me that I have to remind myself multiple times while reading that article that it's not satire. I'd love nothing more than to sit down in front of one of these people and explain to me with a straight face how this even approaches a rational thought.

Ok, I think I misunderstood then. What I thought you were saying was that the only reason they have had success in attracting fans/revenue is The Ralph. In my eyes, The Ralph is a consequence of the program/tradition of winning that has been built, not a cause.

You're talking out of both sides of your mouth. On one hand, UND started on 3rd and was handed everything so their success shouldn't be a surprise. On the other hand, they're a failure since starting on 3rd and being given the cash cow. Which is it?

I was going to go to the season opener tailgate and football game to cheer on the green and white but I've decided it just isn't worth it anymore. I mean, the UND hockey beat writer tweeted out a photo about the ice going in(which he does every year). After seeing that scoreboard, I'm not excited for football anymore. It's taken all of the spotlight.
