  1. For this weekend I I like the idea of just chanting "Let's go Sioux!" during the opposing team's line-up. It's easy to get going among the entire crowd because it has been done during other games...it seems like the best option for this weekend. What does everyone else think? PS. I love the Hole in the Bucket song, by dad taught it to me on a long car drive to keep me busy, unfortunetly it drove him nuts after a half hour of continuous singing!
  2. If we can figure something out for this weekend we can use this board and word of mouth to spread the new chants. There is plenty of time before the Mich.Tech series to really get organized and get articles published in the Herald and Dakota Student informing more students and fogies about the new chants.
  3. Personally I don't mind low scoring games as long as the goalies are making good saves. I do realize that most people like to see scoring...and not goaltending. I like the idea of cutting down the size of the pads, from 12 to 10 inches. I also wouldn't mind seeing the net pushed back a bit. However, I think it is ridiculous to limit where the goaltender can handle the puck. Some goalies are better at handle the puck so let them use that to the teams advantage. I also like the idea of eliminating the two-line pass rule. As for college rules, don't make any changes. If it ain't broke don't fix it!
  4. What!? I remember Jake replacing a certain goalie on Saturday night and gave up a weak one. Friday the team blew a three-point lead because of some mistakes by the defense, a lack of scoring by the offense (after the first period), and the goaltender. My point is that Jake is not the only reason we lost, hockey is a team sport, and the team lost. Relax, we were swept this weekend, but life has continued to go on. Comparing this year's team to last year's is like comparing apples and oranges. This team will learn from the mistakes, regroup at home this weekend, and go out on the road, continuing to do what the Sioux do best...WIN! Good luck guys, I'll be there this weekend doing my best to scream until I have no voice left!
  5. I agree that playing another game tonight will really test what the team is made of. I would rather have the loss now, when the team can learn that they are not invincible without losing a big playoff game. The public comments Blais made, that seemed to place all of the blame on Brandt, are totally unacceptable. Sure, Jake comes out of the net more often than most of us would like, but JPar comes out a lot more than Jake. The only way to give Jake some confidence back now is to apologize and start him tonight. I guarantee that no one was more upset by Jake's performance last night than himself and if he is given another shot he'll prove that he is the better goalie, but we all know Blais wouldn't do a thing like that, he'll play his new favorite, JPar. On a side note: Who acts as the goaltending coach for the Sioux?
  6. Karl Goehring picked up a win and an assist on Friday night. Way to go KG! http://www.syracusecrunch.com/stats/games.cfm?objectID=330 Another article listing Karl with some of the MN High School Hackey elite. http://www.startribune.com/stories/503/4338751.html
  7. Here is a link to a website will a lot of great Hockey wallpapers, inculding UND alumni Ed Belfour and USA 2004 Gold Medal Team. http://www.mccanner.com/index2.htm Hope you all enjoy it!
  8. Jake's got the skill to take us all the way. Anyone who watched him during the playoffs last year knows he takes his game to a higher level when it counts most. Good luck Jake! Go Sioux!
  9. I thought this was one of JPar's best games too, but Jake has also been playing well...besides Dean has always said that Jake is the number 1. Oh, well I guess only time will tell... $19.95?! that's about 4 pizzas...too pricy for me
  10. Hope to see you in net soon Jake, whatever is keeping you out I hope it is resolved soon, best of luck!
  11. I was at the game and saw the replay multiple times there. It was a good call. I wish we could have gotten the sweep, but I'll take the split. The sioux looked awful for most of the game and didn't deserve the win, they simply got out-played...now to the degree they got out-played, that's debatable On a side note: Vanek is just about the slowest skater I have seen, no hustle at all.
  12. The team is why UND won, but Brandt was the best player of the night. Jake should get the start again Sat., but knowing Blais he'll probably throw Parise in there.
  13. Jake played amazing last night (Friday at U of M). He kept us in the game during several power plays, he deserves the start. On a side note wins are important, but not always an indicator of how good a goalie you are, it just means your offense is scoring more goals that you (the goalie) let in...not to say JPar is bad, but anyone who only looks at win/loss record to determine the ability of a goalie is not looking at the big picture.
  14. I would also like to say that with the exception of one guy, whom threatened to "drop" my friend while holding his daughter, all the MN fans were classy! Also, thanks to event security for recognizing that the threatening gentleman was the problem...it didn't help his case that the security was standing right next to us when he threatened my friend. Threatening guy - One bad egg who doesn't represent all MN fans Event security - Great guys who did their job well! Fans - Classy with a capital "C" The sons of the U of M coaching staff (who we sat behind and next to) - Awesome guys who didn't mind talking about hockey with us...very cool! I look forward to going back for another Sioux win tonight!
  15. Not sure if it was intentional, but Minnesota is spelled with two "N"s Way to go Eddie...watching Eddie get the goose egg was enough to make up for the Wild losing.
  16. Does anyone know who they are getting to guard the goal?
  17. Way to go KG! That's the second time in one week that Karl and the possibility of playing at the NHL level were mentioned! Keep up the good work!
  18. Good to hear about Karl, it's nice to know I'm not the only person who thinks he can make it in the NHL... I am also looking foward to seeing Ziggy play, even if it is against the Under 18 team. I still think Brandt is our #1 and the best goalie we have, but I've been looking forward to see what Ziggy's got.
  19. The website says Feb. 2004
  20. Thanks jerseychaser1 those are awesome, do you have any others? If you do please post them!
  21. I love the wallpaper! Thanks! Is there any way to post a Brandt wallpaper in color? That might be enough for me to temporarily remove my Karl wallpaper.
  22. Wear your team's colors outside the student section, but the student section is for people who are supporting the home team...or people who expect to be heckled and don't cry about it. Hopefully at the next home game this guy gets yelled at even more...now that he has drawn attention to himself! Thanks for giving us another target buddy!
  23. Way to go Jake! I never lost faith in you. Since the day I met you I knew you'd grow up to be the #1 at UND...besides anyone who asks me about Karl Goehring when I tell them I'm from Apple Valley will instantly gain my respect. Glad you pulled through and have put some bad choices behind you!
