  1. Interesting article in the Herald today...relates to previous posts. Herald Article About Brandt I'd rather see Brandt play on Saturday against Duluth and sit against Concordia (Montreal) next week. As much as I like the guy, I think Blais did the right thing by committing to benching him at least one game. Jake screwed up and he has to face the consequences. If Blais thinks that is sitting for a game that is what must be done. Good luck Jake! Go Sioux! PS (Goehring has made 36 saves on 39 shots with the Crunch in the last two games, he played in one preseason game with the Blue Jackets making 8 saves on 9 shots)
  2. Karl just needs his chance to proove he has what it takes to play at the NHL level. That chance might come if the NHL continues limiting the size of goalie pads. He did play one preseason game and made 8 saves on 9 shots...not too shabby considering it was one of the first times to play with some of the big dogs. For now I'll be happy following him as he out-plays Pascal Leclaire again
  3. I agree 100%! I have never liked the Sioux Crew and I'd love to see the Farce return...unfortunetly I was to young to remember them, but the stories I have heard are great! Aside from the student section there needs to be more life brought into the crowd at REA.
  4. Glad to see hard work does pay off! Congrats Ranfranz!
  5. Did you watch the post season? Brandt looked better than he did during most of the regular season. That said I have to agree that Marc was a good guy and player, anyone who works that hard deserves credit, but obviously Blais saw more potential in Jake and the incoming freshman, hopefully he isn't wrong. Glad you're willing to stand up in what you believe though. I'm a huge Goehring and he has definetly proved that working hard and playing well are what makes a great player. PS. If the updated roster is correct Jordan Parise better prove he deseves to wear the same #1 on his jersey that Karl wore on his...
  6. I've had season tickets the past two years and gotten to games early so I could sit near the glass in section 108. I was just wondering when everyone is planning on getting to the arena...now that we pretty much know what day and time the tickets are being sold. When is everyone planning to get there? I'd like to keep sitting near the hard-core fans cause we cheer the loudest!
  7. I am amazed at the lack of confidence in Dean Blais' coaching ability. The season hasn't even started and people are already saying he will play musical goalies. Jake seems to be the best choice if he can continue the good work that we saw during the post-season last year. If there's more than one good goalie this year, and I think there will be, would anyone be opposed to goalies splitting time ala the Minnesota Wild? What would be wrong with that?
  8. Other was included for anyone who would want Sofie, Simba, or any other none exisitent UND goalie to start...even Ranfranz is questionable.
  9. Here's a fun poll for everyone...just curious to see what people are thinking...
  10. Karl Goehring resigned by Blue Jackets: http://www.syracusecrunch.com/press/index....splay&pr_id=576
  11. Students getting screwed at the REA?! That never happens...and I always get 50% back when I sell my books to Barnes and Noble! The best option would have been to give us corner seats...but apparently they didn't think students would stand during a hockey game, despite the fact that students standing during the game happens just about everywhere (I know there are exceptions). I have been a student season ticket holder for the past 2 years; I have shown up early to most of the games. Usually there are about 5-10 people ahead of me in line, I'd like to see them get their tickets first and I'd also like priority given to people who have had student season tickets in the past. For once I feel just a small amount of pity for REA officials for having to deal with a bad student senate decision, but when has government ever done anything efficiently? (Rhetorical question).
  12. I'd have to say a tie between Tony Hrkac and Karl Goehring, with Belfour coming in a close second. I also think we might have some other potentials coming up this year...
  13. Well said Herf and SiouxperFan!
  14. Thanks for the memories! The "Miracle On Ice" happened about 2 years before I was born, but I have seen the game on ESPN Classics and I think it is the greatest hockey game I have ever watched. R.I.P. Mr. Brooks
  15. I know others are not happy with the false information that was provided by schmidtdoggydog, but I would like to thank schmidtdoggydog for brining forth the truth when he realized he was wrong. Thanks too, schmidtdoggydog, for asking for the personal stuff to move to email, I don't like reading conversations between two people on the message boards.
  16. My boss got one and didn't want it so he gave it to me...I read it cover to cover then sent in my subscription, it's a great magazine. I can't wait until the Oct. Hockey issue and Feb. swimsuit issue.
  17. Another good article about Karl written earlier this year. http://www.hockeysfuture.com/article.php?sid=5710
  18. Rumors suck! That being said I would appreciate people not tarnishing the name of someone who I consider a friend. I've known Jake for two years and I think it is sad that people are spreading rumors about him. If he stole the pull tabs he made a mistake, a bad mistake, but it is up to the legal system to determine his guilt and punishment. I'd like to hear his story before I pass judgment. Maybe I am getting overly defensive about these rumors, but I get angry when people start making allegations about my friends. This is the USA where people are innocent until proven guilty. If Jake is found guilty I'd like to be the first to ask him what the heck he was thinking, but I'm not going to hold it against him for the rest of his life.
  19. Signed it! I would hate for the Sioux to lose a good opponent.
  20. Anyone who wants a chance to see Karl play can get tickets to the Syracuse Crunch vs. Manitoba Moose game for March 5th or 7th of 2004. It will probably be the closest game to GF the Crunch play. Tickets range from $12-33. Games are played in the Winnipeg Arena so it's only a 2hr drive from GF. Checkout http://www.moosehockey.com/tickets/index.html for more ticket info.
  21. Trevor Ettinger was a good defenseman and I'm sure he will be missed by Karl and the entire Blue Jackets program. It's too bad so many young guys have to go before they have reached their full potential.
  22. Karl is my favorite athlete ever and probably one of the few people I would refer to as a hero. He is an exemplary player. He graduated as valedictorian from Apple Valley High School (Go Eagles!) and he is arguably the best goaltender to play for UND. The first time I saw him play I was in 8th grade staying up late at night with the TV turned down so mom and dad would wake up and send me to bed. He was busy winning the State Championship for my future high school team. I was amazed then and even amazed when I watched him during the 2000-2001 season at UND. I started following minor league hockey because of Karl and I am waiting for the day he will get his chance in the NHL. For me it's not a question of "if", but "when." I know he's good enough and when he gets his chance, he will prove once again that the smallest person can make the biggest difference. It might be a stretch...but I think if the NHL sticks with the smaller pads smaller guys like Karl, who aren't afraid to come out of the net and challenge a shooter, will start to see more action in the next couple of years. I know it's a stretch, but maybe... PS. If Karl happens to cruise the board thanks for the autographed jersey! Keep up the amazing work!
  23. Manny will be with the Wild not CO for the follwing reason: 1. Already has contract with MN. 2. Wild have given him a chance to start 50% of the time and when Roli leaves he should be the go-to-guy. 3. He is Lemaire's nephew...not to say that alone would keep him, but it would be an influence. Roy is the best for now, but Brodeur will pass him in a few years.
  24. Karl Goehring was arguably the best goalie to play at UND and those of us who were able to watch him play for a year or more got used to having a brick wall in front of the net. As some have pointed out Brandt

    Brandt

I can admit I am a Brandt fan and I am trying to tell myself that he is innocent until proven guilty, but I know that probably isn't true. I'd like to know why he did it...and I don't accept too many beers as an excuse. My only hope is that the GF Herald article was right when it said he "allegedly was involved in the theft.
