  1. Brandt is still our #1, but Parise definetly has the #2...it's nice to know we'll have someone to take over when Jake leaves and Ziggy is supposed to be pretty good too (I love Ziggy's old-school helmet - reminds me of Karl!) Everyone wanders, but Parise started to get riddiculous, I don't mind as long as it doesn't cause us to lose a game.
  2. The new REA will never have anything on the old one...standing the whole game, silences coinciding with breaks in the action allowing students to taunt the opposing team...burning furniture to stay warm before games...students making up half the area You'll never get the same atmosphere in a $100million arena with 11,800 people. 3. Great comments by everyone... I reallly appreciate the fans from 110 and 107 for their thanks, it's nice to know that it is just a few people doing the complaining. Honestly I think if REA acted more like you guys (and gals) and thanked the students things would go better, but anytime they say thank you it has that but work after it Again I appreciate your thanks!
  4. I'd actually agree with this. Goalies are generally different from regular players who need specific advice on how to improve their game. While Blais is an excellent coach he may not fully understand how to handle goalies. Besides goalie, coaches are becoming more common at the pro-level so eventually it will trickle down to the college level, why not be one of the first? As long as Blais's strategy keeps working and we keep getting wins, I won't complain too much.
  5. I'd love to see a two-goalie system (like the Wild) too, but you might be forgetting that when Manny or Roli were hot Lemaire kept them in. You reward good starts with more starts. I want Parise and Ziggy to get more starts too, but not against the Golden Chokers. Brandt should get the start, but Parise will probably get it.
  6. I like Legion of Zoom and the Money Line... How about the Money Shots? (Adds that bit of vulgarity that the students love!)
  7. Goaltending sucked! 4 Goals on 10 shots...seriously guys Brandt will show up tomorrow and prove again why he is the #1 so I'm not too worried...and I'm sure if he doesn't I'll hear about it, but for now I will hope for the best and stay positive.
  8. Fournier at #4?! The question wasn't "Who Are You Mostly Likely To See Eating a Big Mac?"...
  9. You can argue that the drinking age should be different, but the fact is they broke the law and should be punished for it. A one game suspension would be enough.
  10. I had to go with Anderson because of inconsistent penalties...at least Sheppard consistently screws UND.
  11. I have friends who played women's hockey and they hated the fact that they couldn't check. They wanted to prove that they could play with the same rules as the men. I think checking should be allowed.
  12. I love the "Bodie Hit The Floor" idea...it's a good song to pump up a crowd and great background music for some skull-cracking fight scenes!
  13. After the second BC game I think the question isn't who is the #1, it's who will be our #2. Jake made several amazing saves tonight and prooved that he's our #1!
  14. Mike Commodore was sent down to Lowell of the AHL. http://www.calgaryflames.com/cgi-bin/news/..._num=0000000934
  15. When you get everything made up you'll have to let us know. I'm sure I'm not the only one who would be intrested in downloading a Sioux team for NHL 2004...especially if it has some past players (ie. Panzer, Goehring, etc.) Do you want us to post pics or just send them somewhere?
  16. I watched the Wild/Blackhawks game on ESPN and Roche got a lot of power-play time during the game. I hope Bombardir is okay...he got nailed last night.
  17. I got an email back from customer services today. The woman said that the issues should have been mailed, but because we're living on a college campus if you have not updated the address it is mailed to it may take a while for the newest issue to be forwarded to you. She told me to contact them again if I don't receive it within the next two weeks.
  18. I don't think that people, Native American or not, that have a problem with the Sioux name think UND misuses the name. Obviously the athletes, faculty, and students try to honor the Sioux name and show respect for a tradition and the fact that this land was theirs at one time. People who find the name offensive usually take offense to the way that rivals, such as NDSU or more recently Mesa State use the name in a deragatory, offensive fashion. (Example: The Mesa State student paper had a headline that refered to their football team "scalping" the Sioux football team. Other examples are classless shirts worn by NDSU fans at football games.) While UND and its students are not to blame for these incidents people who find the name offensive see changing the Sioux name as the only, or possibly best solution, to preventing other people from using the Sioux name in a derrogatory, offensive fashion. Another possible reason that people may find the name "Sioux" offensive is that it is the name the French gave to the Lakota people. From what I have read Sioux means "enemy or snake" and Lakota means "people or friendly people". Obviously most Lakota have adopted the Sioux name, but still you can see why some Native American might be offended by the team being named the Sioux. This has been my experience. Take it how you want. I think the name honors Native Americans, although I have become more open to changing it since I have spoken with a Native American friend of mine. I also think that UND could do more to honor people of the Sioux Tribes. For instance I think it would be nice to hang banners representing the different tribes within the Sioux Nation in the REA. Another way to furhter honor the Sioux would be to stop naming builings after old white guys and start naming the buildings after famous figures within the Sioux (have tribes select important Sioux figures that they feel should be honored and remembered). I realize that you have to work with laws against naming buildings after people, but it could be done without too much hassle. Norte Dame is the Fighting Irish, they honor the Irish heritage by naming builings on the campus after historical Irish people, it seems like this would be a good way of honoring the Sioux and their rich heritage. It is too late to do it for your speech, but I would highly reccommend taknig an Intro to Indian Studies course while you are at UND...I'm taking it in the spring so I can learn more about the people we are honoring with the Sioux name. Besides I think its good to examine thing from more than one angle. Well that's more than my two cents, but I'm done. Maybe I just wasted time because I like to give my opinion about somewhat controversal issues, but hopefully I helped you see thing from yet another angle.
  19. Has anyone gotten their SI in the mail yet? I subscribed and it seems that subscribers should receive their issues in the mail about the same time they start selling them to the public.
  20. I thought the classic-style jerseys rocked, I'd buy one from the pro-shop if I could have the letters stiched on instead of ironed on. I love my geometric logo jerseys, but I'd drop some more money to get the classic style...maybe buy one and have someone stitch the letters for me. Just wondering what everyone else though of them.
  21. I think Parise looked great in his first D-1 game and I think all of the goaltenders will look good. I'd watch (or listen) to the whole game before commenting on a goalie's performance. I'm already looking forward to next weeks game. Go Sioux!
  22. All good points...I knew I had seen those statistic before. We can argue all we want about why the Sioux didn't win it all last year, but Iwould rather look forward to this year. I think all positions will be solid this year and I think we have the depth to make a run for everything. Go Sioux!
  23. Augusta Lynx (ECHL) - Signed Andy Kollar to a tryout agreement today. http://www.goalies.com/site/story.pasp?Sto...622&StoryType=1
