Buxton picked up his 1st hit last night a triple to left centerfield. Pretty fitting that his 1st major league hit was a triple.
-
I told a buddy going into the KC series this losing streak was coming but was hopeful it would push Ryan a little bit to call up Buxton and it looks like that is the case. Very excited to see Buxton and all the speed and athleticism he has.
-
There are probably a couple others on the list I could live with but the only one I checked is North Dakota because that is far and away my favorite option and what I hope the committee chooses.
-
He never played so it would be tough to know unless you saw practices what position he was practicing at but I believe he was still at RB. Kill usually talks about any position changes even if they are just practice guys and I can't recall him ever mentioning Parks moving to CB. He was also still listed as an RB on his profile on gophersports fwiw.

Over The Boards @OTBPuckWatch 11m11 minutes ago 98 G Jake Oettinger (@USANTDP) commits to BU. Huge add in net for Terriers, 6'3 MN native had a great year at NTDP with 2.57 and .916 SV%. Over The Boards @OTBPuckWatch 9m9 minutes ago Oettinger had an outstanding freshman year at Lakeville North (MN) before NTDP. 2017 draft-eligible. 1998 a great birthyear for MN goalies.

Is this serious? If so sorry but that will never happen here and I'm very glad we will continue to attract top prospects. If you want a team full of just grinder type players and no stars you better look somewhere else.

No surprise to see Jordan sign I wish him the best of luck! Maybe the reporter Rutherford didn't really have a clue either way and just kept guessing to try to be the first to report something. I know there has been some speculation about Thompson signing but I can't really see that. Should still set up a pretty strong defenseman group with Ausmus-Stecher, Thompson-LaDue, Wolanin/Shaw-Poolman.
-
This, Willingham was absolutely awful in the outfield he could barely move anything was an improvement. I don't really care what the advanced stats/metrics say about Hunter or the rest of the outfielders defense just watching from last year to this year it is definitely improved. It isn't a great defensive outfield by any means but definitely an improvement from last year to this year. I'm not a big fan of how much they use Escobar though especially in the DH spot hopefully that changes when Arcia comes back but knowing how Terry Ryan often operates he will probably send Rosario back down instead of rotating Rosario, Arcia, and Hunter through the LF,RF, and DH spots the other option would be to call Vargas back up and just let him DH everyday then it would make at least a little more sense for Rosario to go back down. There will definitely be some tough roster decisions coming up for the Twins throughout the Summer with some of the prospects hopefully pushing for MLB time and could be a bit of a logjam at some positions.

Visited both Duluth and UND a couple times guessing neither offered him though.
-
Thought he had already accelerated and graduated high school though and could have came in after playing for the NTDP? Pushed back probably wasn't the right word either as I believe both Gersich and Wilkie were totally fine with playing in the USHL this year.
-
With Boeser a likely 1st round pick and Gersich and Wilkie already being pushed back a year too you have to bring all of them in as well or you risk losing them and I wouldn't wanna risk losing any of them.
-
I kinda agree if they are looking to play this fall it doesn't seem like the fit is there with UND.
-
If we look outside of UND connections I would think Mark Osiecki would be one of the first calls.
-
Don't know for sure but to me it seems like he really doesn't have an idea either way and is just trying to be 1st to report something. Maybe this guy does actually know and Hak leaving does influence Jordan's decision but that's kind of hard for me to believe. I'm not putting much stock into his reports and will wait for a report from someone a little more reliable.

Caught a little bit of Brad Berry interview with Mike McFeely on 790 just now not exact but most of the gist of what was discussed: -Said Hak had flat turned down the Flyers the first couple times but got lots of backing/support from Hextall and he made his decision in about the last 48 hours. Said Hextall kept telling Hakstol that Philly needed him and they needed the kind of culture in Philly that is at UND. -McFeely asked about changes Berry said not a whole lot of them. Realized when he came back from NHL they had to get offense from defensemen and switched the style then. Will be focused on being solid defensively in own zone first but want to get the puck and go. -McFeely asked Berry if the end it is kind of a no brainer for Hak being the NHL and everything. Berry said No talked about how he has been on the AHL/NHL side of things and how special of place UND is. -Berry said he officially got the offer at about 8:15 this morning from Faison. -Berry said knowing the move was coming for the last 48 hours or so the staff had a plan set up to contact incoming class/future recruits/players about the move this morning when it became official and everybody was still on board 100%. -McFeely asked about Hakstol not winning a championship how agonizing it is and what they can change. Berry said Hak really wanted won and if he would have continued at UND would have got one but it he knew he did the best job he could and it wasn't gonna keep him up every night. Berry also said they have been watching video of the BU game looking for little things they could have tweaked and stuff like that and they will continue to look at videos of Frozen 4 losses to see what they could have done different. -McFeely asked about Berry's staff, Berry said they will have the 1 open spot to fill and will open that job up. Said he and Jackson talked today about some possible candidates and said the biggest thing is they may have to put egos aside and it is all about what they can bring to the table.

I believe you are correct. From what I've seen reported they had been after Hakstol for 3 weeks and he had said no twice and Hextall came back again a 3rd time and wasn't taking no for an answer. Somehow the 3rd time he got Hak to say yes my guess is that $$$$$$ may have been an influence the 3rd time. -
The timeout at the final 5 against Minnesota, making the NCAA tourney every year, the way he, his staff, and players would always take the time and make the extra effort to reach out to fans.

Should be a lot of options. If they look outside of UND connections I wouldn't mind going after Mark Osiecki. If they look for someone with UND ties there would be lots of directions they could go but maybe a little bit of a surprise name would be EGF head coach Tyler Palmiscino. -

I like the Berry pick keeps things nice and stable. Hopefully Jackson will be back with him and it will be interesting to see who they go after for the other assistant spot. -
The difference is the hockey job is a consensus top 5 job in the country while the football job is at best a mid level FCS job. Coaches are probably a little bit more willing to throw their name in the hat even if they know it will be reported when it is one of the top jobs. I don't think it will matter anyway as I would guess Berry will be named coach before the end of the week. EDIT: Looks like it will be before the end of the day, press conference at 1 and Schloss reporting it will be Berry.

I think if you promote Berry or Jackson that is how you will experience the least amount of roster shakeup. Berry and Jackson have recruited many of these guys and already have built relationships with them. If you bring someone from the outside in and for whatever reason Berry and Jackson are also gone then recruits and players have no relationship with the coaching staff and that is often when they decide to explore other options.
