As the year goes on I would expect Gersich and Wilkie to start producing more and I also think we will see more scoring from Chyzk, Johnson, and Poganski. I'd like to see them mix the 2,3,4 lines up a little bit this weekend. Gersich-Johnson-Poganski Chyzk-Gardner-Wilkie Janatuinen-Simonson-Olson

I haven't, but I wouldn't be surprised if some are already and if he can consistently play the way he did against Roseau I would think teams would almost have to take notice.

Good speed and skill probably a guy that will have to go to juniors somewhere and see how he performs there before he gets more looks. He had 7 goals and 7 assists in the elite league this fall. Lots of potential recruits and talent in the area still but not a whole lot of standout can't miss Brock Nelson, TJ Oshie types. There are some young guys that look like very good prospects but are still developing, some others they will want to see how their SR year goes kinda like they did with Yon and others they will wait to see how they perform in juniors like with Poolmans. Know Lucia was at the Grand Rapids-Bemidji game on Tuesday and I would guess many coaches will want to watch both of those teams this season. That game could have had around 10 D1 guys on the ice that night. GR has 3 guys committed already including Mattson and has at least another 3-4 who will end up playing D1 and Bemidji has 3-4 very good prospects who should end up as D1 guys.

FSN has the Roseau/Thief River Falls game on tonight. Not real sure what they have for prospects but do know Roseau lost a very good Freshman Ben Helgeson to Hill-Murray and he scored 2 goals in their season opener against Burnsville. UND FIGHTING HAWKS @ SCSU Huskies - Saturday GamedaySiouxScore replied to AZSIOUX's topic in Men's Hockey Kind of a similar effort to last night from the Sioux problem was last night we got away with playing sloppy and mistakes but that won't happen consistently and it showed tonight. St. Cloud got some bounces tonight and was able to cash in on some of the bad turnovers that they didn't finish last night. The other big difference tonight was SCSU did a good job of keeping us to the outside and taking away shooting lanes. Lindgren is also a very good goalie and showed it again tonight while neither of our goalies looked real great. Going into next week it will be interesting to see how the goaltending situation plays out. I thought Hrynkiw didn't look sharp at all this weekend and seemed out of position a lot especially deep in his net which really hurts him as a smaller goalie. Johnson I thought was a little up and down tonight as well making some good saves but giving up 1 or 2 he maybe should have had and getting lucky with a few posts/crossbars. If Tomek is healthy maybe we finally see him in some game action next weekend. Did Gersich get hurt last night? If not I don't get the decision to sit him at all as he has created some good opportunities and finished some as well and there isn't an abundance of those types of guys in the lineup. I didn't mind the decision to put Janatuinen into the lineup I just thought it should have been for Sanderson as imo. he doesn't really add a whole lot to the lineup.

NORTH DAKOTA FIGHTING HAWKS @ SCSU - Friday GamedaySiouxScore replied to AZSIOUX's topic in Men's Hockey Solid road win in a game where the Sioux weren't at their best. Some real nice plays but also some bad turnovers, getting caught out of position too much, and just overall sloppy at times. The Caggiula-Schmaltz-Boeser line just completely controlled the game when they were on the ice and it was very fun to watch. I'm skeptical of the 38 shots they had SCSU for but Hrynkiw was tested more tonight and he did enough to get the win but he did seem to be out of position more tonight and struggled with rebound control. It was tough to hear the announcers say Fighting Hawks and I'm glad they didn't use it to much because I don't think I will ever get use to it. Probably need to cut down on the turnovers and just be a little cleaner tomorrow night to get a Fighting Sioux sweep.

From what I've heard he is one of the fastest players on the team and creates a lot of chances but has been a little snake-bitten and just not able to finish chances which his something he is usually pretty solid at. Numbers may not show it but Bowen is playing very well in the BCHL.

I don't remember a lot of people saying for coaches to go sign the EGF guys immediately but more just saying that team had a lot of D1 prospects to keep an eye on. UND has already signed C.Poolman and Bowen off that 1st EGF Championship team now and they are keeping close tabs on guys Tye Ausmus in the USHL and Tweten and G.Loven who will be SRs this year. I'm not sure how many of them will end up at UND but I would be surprised if there isn't 5-6 players off that team that play D1 hockey somewhere.

Sioux looked very good tonight.. Hope LaDue isn't out too long and we can get the same kind of performance and pick up the sweep tomorrow.

Same for me I would be surprised if the voting numbers don't go down this time.

Bad loss to a bad team but it is only one game. Tonights performance reminded me of the opener against BSU last season just a really sloppy and lackadaisical game. Would expect a much more complete effort and bounce back performance to get the split tomorrow.
-
A little bit tough to think of a comparison for him but he does remind me some of Brock Nelson. Good size, stays in high school through SR year when he coulda went USHL, very skilled. Mattson may be a little more physical than Nelson but I think Nelson was more skilled and a better finisher as a SR.

Horrible clock management after the review overturned the TD you have to know the clock is gonna start. Tough to get much of a push on the QB sneak with Michigan having 2-3 guys offsides including the NT. The Gophers played really well but scoring the TD and then having it reviewed and overturned which was the right call and then the game ending the way it did made it an excruciating tough loss ending a pretty emotional week for the program.
-
As a Gopher football fan I would be happy with giving Claeys the opportunity and it would help keep together a very good recruiting class. If they decide to go a different way I'd go after Pat Narduzzi since Pitt's coaches seem to leave pretty quickly recently or Tom Herman from Houston although I wouldn't be surprised if he gets looks from USC or Miami too.

Minnesota Coach Jerry Kill retired today due to health reasons, very emotional press conference was kinda tough to watch.

Really nice game tonight showcasing the speed and skill. The Schmaltz line was dominant again and I love the creativity and chemistry they seem to have. Nice job all around of limiting Vermont to very few quality chances as well.
-
Great start came out with a lot of speed and took BSU a while to adjust. As the game went on BSU did a pretty good job of clogging stuff up and taking away shooting lanes and really just playing their typical tough to play against style. The injuries seem to be mounting after losing Janatuinen in game as well. The Schmaltz line looked pretty solid creating chances again tonight but seemed like they missed Gersich who I think is about the perfect fit with Schmaltz and Boeser so hopefully we can get him back tomorrow. Goaltending is still a pretty big concern for me especially with Cam's injury and another couple goals that probably should have been stopped tonight. I think Bemidji had 3 PP goals and we have know given up 4 in 3 games so really gotta get the PK figured out. Also not sure on the numbers but seem like we struggled on faceoffs especially in the d zone.

NORTH DAKOTA vs. Lake Superior State - Friday GamedaySiouxScore replied to AZSIOUX's topic in Men's Hockey Hard to tell too much from radio but sounded like a pretty decent job generating offense and really seemed like the top 2 lines pretty much dominated when they where on the ice. Goaltending is still a bit of concern to me hopefully Cam can bounce back tomorrow with a solid performance.
