  1. My early season take on this team is gonna end up pretty close to what actually happens I think. They got a surprise win over Green Bay and took advantage of Chicago having a ton of guys out but also had the surprise loss to Detroit so instead of 7-10 8-9 looks to be more likely although maybe they find a way to lose their last two. Technically they can still get into the playoffs and I've had a couple friends say they'd rather not get in just incase they somehow make a run for Zim to keep his job but I think baring a super bowl Zim is done. Those last couple NFC wild cards are likely 9-8 teams and maybe even a 8-9 team.
  2. Solid weekend of hockey to end a solid first half of the season. Watching the guys the first couple weekends I wouldn't have even thought they would be on top of the conference at the break especially by 6 points. This isn't a vintage team talent wise or a team without some flaws but when they play the style that this team has to play it can be pretty good. I think we are seeing some guys starting to grow in their game a little bit as well. Last couple weeks Moore, Jandric, Portz, and Ness a little have looked a lot more comfortable and confident in their games out there. I think there is still plenty of room for this team to grow.
  3. Any youtube stream tonight? Otherwise I'll just listen to TH. Not worth a month of NCHC TV for basically 1 game for me.
  4. Didn't end up mattering anyway. Meant to get in earlier when the lineups came out but got busy playing with my 11 month old niece visiting.
  5. I'm with you I said if I was in a sportsbook somewhere I would've thrown some cash on Detroit moneyline. There is no question in my mind Zimmer is a dead man walking it is just when. Initially I thought this would be his last game but not sure they make the firing on a short week. Funniest part in my mind is it is Zimmers coveted defense that can't get it done. 12 points in the last 2 minutes of halfs today for Detroit today.
  6. I'll take a split. Played pretty well tonight especially after the early punch from St. Cloud. Have to start to find a way to string some consistent good efforts together and complete a whole weekend. Can't continue to be one terrible performance and one really solid game. Gotta figure something out this week and get the job done next weekend.
  7. Well I'm 31 so it has been a while. Really started following close when I was about 10 and those Glen Mason teams with Tyrone Carter, Ron Johnson, Thomas Tapeh, Ben Hamilton, Dan Nystrom, Arland Bruce, Asad Abdul Khaliq, Ben Utecht, Greg Eslinger, Marion Barber, Laurence Maroney, and Gary Russell.
  8. Was just hoping for a split coming into the weekend so pretty happy right now. Looked like a much different team and played the style we needed to. The Senden line was really solid right from the jump. Some really good rivalry football games earlier with Ohio State/Michigan, Auburn/Alabama, and of course Gopher football beats wisconsin and brings the axe back home and Sioux hockey beats Minnesota. Pretty good day. Now to finish it off with a back and forth bedlam game.
  9. Gophers bring the Axe back where it belongs! Season of what if with losing Ibrahim while in a battle with Ohio State, the Bowling Green debacle, falling flat on our face against Illinois, winning every stat category in Iowa except the most important one, and then needing help from Nebraska yesterday and they blow a 21-6 lead in the 4th quarter. Could've and should've been playing for a B1G Championship next week but ending the regular season like today is a nice consolation.
  10. This Minnesota team has been struggling but they are very good. Too much talent and depth to not be a factor this season. I was just hoping for a split coming into the weekend and this is the type of performance I was dreading. Driscoll wasn't real sharp tonight, couple good saves but didn't seem to handle anything real clean or confident. Offensively we really struggled to generate much. Little bit of a push late in the game but just not very sharp at all anud too much perimeter offense. Lot of guys struggled tonight but really thought Sanderson didn't look near like himself. Minnesota is the more skilled team all the way around without a doubt but I thought they also did the little things better which can't happen with the makeup of this team. They were more physical, won almost all the races, got bodies/sticks in lanes better, more disciplined, better in the d zone, and just the better team. Berry clearly very unhappy with the effort tonight in his tv interview.
  11. Vikes got some things to go their way yesterday probably more than I can ever remember against Green Bay. Back to .500 and in the thick of the playoff race but I'm still not with Zimmer being the future, heck I think he is gone unless they make a NFC Championship type run. Defense is still very questionable, offense is dangerous especially when they can protect a little bit and stay aggressive trying to stretch the field. Worried about this week. Probably feeling themselves a little coming off a win over Green Bay and seems like they never play well at San Francisco.
  12. Huge split. Really solid performance with some guys stepping up into bigger roles. Driscoll came up big when he had to be. Seemed like Frisch had a ton of minutes this weekend. Hopefully guys get healthy for the Minnesota series next weekend.
  13. Didn't get to see any of the game but seems like a pretty solid game from the guys. Take care of business and finish the job tomorrow.
  14. Don't be sorry I'm happy, it is a positive, one step closer to the end of the Zimmer/Spielman era.
  15. Pretty solid back to back efforts from the guys. Seemed to show a little bit of an identity. Love the Hain-Senden-Jamernik line and I think it is a combo a lot of us thought we would see coming into the year.
  16. Lot to clean up but a better outing than I was expecting and nice to finish the win. Thought we did a better job on the forecheck than I've seen much of the year. Driscoll was solid tonight and looked real confident.
  17. First Playoff Rankings out. Thought the committee did a pretty nice job except can't understand at all how they put Alabama at 2, that is just plain bad. 1. Georgia 2. Alabama 3. Michigan State 4. Oregon 5. Ohio State 6. Cincinnati 7. Michigan 8. Oklahoma 9. Wake Forest 10. Notre Dame 11. Oklahoma State 12. Baylor 13. Auburn 14. Texas A&M 15. BYU 16. Ole Miss 17. Mississippi State 18. Kentucky 19. NC State 20. Minnesota 21. Wisconsin 22. Iowa 23. Fresno State 24. San Diego State 25. Pittsburgh

This team is just so inconsistent right now. Bad loss to a middle of the pack B1G team. Gotta imagine this will be a loss that hurts come tournament time. Long long way to go with this group.
  19. Solid win, far from perfect but did enough to get the job done. Thought the biggest improvement was in the defensive zone tonight and just being tougher to play against. Driscoll had a solid night.
  20. Could be the best Eastern team this year. I'd put them behind at least 7 teams in the West still though.
  21. It is very early in the season but we just aren't a very good team at all right now. I'm not sure at this point I see a very high ceiling for this team either. Best case to me you find a way into the tournament and maybe get a little lucky and make a run with a few bounces. We are gonna need a bunch of guys to really step up their game and quickly if we are gonna be a tournament team. Goaltending has been average to solid for the most part. We are as bad as I've ever seen us in the d zone. Wide open guys in prime scoring areas, ton of turnovers, weak on pucks, and overall very passive. Offensively we lack much if any high end talent at all. No real offensive creative, struggle to get to prime scoring areas, not much of a grind game, losing lots of board battles, struggle to complete passes, and not a lot of speed either. Special teams haven't been strong either.
  22. Its bad. It isn't the reason we are losing as we are bad too but it never fails that this is the level of officiating you get in the East.
