Earlier this year, talked with a former player who had plenty of insight on kickers. He said it's all mental at this point, appears it's not fixing itself. Not sure what the answer is, but running a fake field goal probably doesn't help it. For what it's worth, he had pretty good ratings from some legitimate kicking camps before he was on campus. Whatever it is, it needs to get fixed. The majority of special team gaffes continue to be execution on the part of individual players. If they can't get it done, the coaches need to figure out who can.

North Dakota vs. Minnesota in Las Vegas - October 2018

Guessing the logistics for them to get extra planes here wasn't worth it for them. They don't have tons of extra planes to begin with and to fly empty ones to GF/Fargo, then have it sit for a coue days before coming back from Vegas only up leave empty and go somewhere else just wasn't worth it for them. Flexibility and their business model don't exactly go hand in hand. I'm guessing they filled the existing flights at high prices and are happy with that. -
He shoots lefty so it looks odd, but he shot 48.1% from the field last year. Got that crazy old man midrange game.

Good thing the football team is on the road, I heard the hockey team is being punished and being forced to use the football locker rooms for the weekend and hopefully force them to play with some extra grit.
-
Sure, but people also need to remember it took multiple large upsets in conference tournaments for UND to miss the national tournament. No argument about them putting themselves in that spot, but almost every year the last decade, they make the tournament in the spot they finished in and in fact have made it finishing lower than that.
-
So what you're saying is that once UND joins, just need to get YSU to support the idea?
-
Yeah, I do and that's exactly my point.
-
So you equate making them dress in the football team's locker room as a punishment, yet hockey supporters get confused and defensive when supporters of the football team are so insistent on the importance of new facilities for the team. This is up there with Schlossman dropping the tidbit about the NCHC coaches buying in and wearing the new logo to show support as an important part of the acceptance process for the new conference. Can't even make this stuff up.

The article Brad wrote says UND will wear the jerseys during an exhibition game, yet the 1959 team isn't actually being honored until 2 weeks later against CC. Not hard to connect the dots to see the correlation. -
The wheels for the move to the Summit/MVFC were in motion long before Kennedy ever stepped foot on campus. He gave the final push/blessing but it had been a work in progress long before that. For whatever reason, there is apparently faith in Douple. At some point, other than the pride of the MVC teams, I'm not sure why the Summit just doesn't take over the MVFC management.

Guessing there is also a specific difference in wearing them in an exhibition game vs. an official NCAA game. -
How many of those sponsors do you think are giving in the 8 figure range? Safe bet is the overwhelming majority is in the 5 figure range at best. Being a "sponsor" like the ones you linked to is a significantly different category than what is being talked about with Altru/Sanford.

The Ralph won't take away the lower bowl seats, however I wouldn't be surprised to see an additional upper bowl section be up for discussion at some point. The comparison with what NDSU didn't isn't really comparable at because the set-ups are completely different, but there is zero argument that they took away the most valuable/best seats the students had, all because they were shot down on an increase in student fees because they had a poor presentation and didn't get the rubber stamp they were expecting.

Because it's an either/or proposition, both are after the same thing. UND chose to continue and expand their longstanding partnership with Altru (significant local presence), who donated $10 million at the time (turf and HPC) instead of taking money from Sanford (minimal local presence). Taking money from Sanford would have required severing ties with Altru. Sanford isn't going to donate money with no strings attached. NDSU faced the same situation and chose to go with Sanford, severing ties with longstanding partner Essentia.

Likely going to be a decision that will have to be made by Midco due to logistics, unless they can find an easy way to stream WatchBigSky or Pluto. -
UND has turned down Sanford money in the past. The money would have to come with no strings attached and that isn't going to happen.
-
They've already done it in 2018. The rhetoric was that UND didn't have Montana (or EWU) on their schedule. This year, now that UND has beat Montana, Montana is suddenly a bad team even though they are likely the same or slightly better than they were in 2016.

Trying to figure out how your comment about the need to expedite Phase II ties into with where they are practicing when it has no relevance. The question about where they are practicing is relevant. Trying to tie that to the urgency placed on getting Phase II done isn't.
-
I'm fine with that but my point is what any of that has to do with the timeline on Phase II of the HPC which is locker rooms, coaches offices, meeting rooms and S&C. The two things have nothing to do with each other.
-
What does dilapidated locker rooms plus inadequate S&C/training facilitates, meeting rooms and coaches' offices have to do with whether the team is practicing indoor or outdoors?
-
I also believe the stairs down to the field are right in front of that section, so it is probably a logistics thing to keep them there as well (though maybe they could put the stairs elsewhere?)
-
I'd argue being able to offer seats between the 20's to a casual fan is much more enticing than only being able to offer end zone seats. Huge difference? Maybe, maybe not.
-
I see NK making sure the team well aware that this one is personal to him.

4-2 Idaho State loses to #10 UC Davis in overtime (and FBS Cal) and they are actually behind UND by quite a bit points-wise.
