This is a league created issue, not a UND created issue.

All one needs to know about the differences is told by looking at the state/local funding at the source level. Having something like 1/3 of your funding come from local non-competive grants really gives you a leg up. And it could be significantly higher than that depending on what is put into the "Instituion Funds" bucket and where that money filters down from. If one recalls, Nebraska lost their AAU status about 10 years ago because they were so reliant on non-competive, non-peer reviewed reserach grants and weren't strong enough on competitive federal research grants. Carnegie does not distinguish between where research dollars come from.

Black Widow Cafe (food truck) is operating out of there right now.

You'll be surprised who the two leads for the hiring process were then.

You apparently aren't familiar with Entz's clock management. Definitely a point on consternation among their fans.

I thought the talent level was pretty damn equal in the game. Or did you see something no one else did? I'll disagree that it happens "alot" but regardless, it was an egregious mistake that shouldn't have happened given the situation.

They don't get in situations without an immense amount of talent and skill but it's absolutely uncanny how breaks always seem to fall their way. Case in point:
-
They changed it a few years back because it was being used against them. In fact, Stiegelmeier just signed a 2 year extension to go on top of the 5 year contract he signed in 2018. https://www.keloland.com/sports/south-dakota-state-rewards-john-stiegelmeier-with-2-year-contract-extension/

Interesting. They signed a pretty highly recruited kicker/punter last year out of Kansas who actually played the end of the year, going 5-8 in FG's and 16-16 in XP's.

Looks like 24 in. K/P last minute decommit is the only big (negative)? Thought we'd maybe see another transfer or two and obviously still can. Parks - LB Doell - LB Stay - TE Dennis - WR Baretz - LB Cooper - LB Thaden - TE Olson - DL Bryant - OL Anderson - OL Ledbetter - DL Stec - LB Teiken - DL Kelzenberg - OL Moe-Tucker - RB Becher - OL Sutton - DB Schweigert - DL Strandell - WR Lehman - LB Borud - OL Hackel - QB Hembry - DB Dixon - DB

Well, took care of the first part. We'll see how it carries over.

Jacob Odom headed to D2-power Slippery Rock University in Pennsylvania. Best of luck to him.

There isn't reallly a reason for the NCHC to be a willing participant in that and only have 3 schools currently in the Summit doesn't give the SL any leverage, especialy when the ones in the league are the ones you are trying to prevent leaving. And I think you'll have a hard time with that rule when the conference would need as many affiliates as it does. The MVFC doesn't have a whole lot of reason either, but the SL schools do have a bit more leverage being that it is currently 5/4/1 in the Summit/MVFC/Horizon. More or less, the difference in what you're saying and what I'm saying is which teams you are trying to protect from losing because other than UND there is no one that has both hockey and football (other than UST in the Pioneer). To me, football is a more realisitc option than hockey and it keeps the core group of the Dakota schools together and you have the ability to start enticing the 4 MVC schools while their conference is in a bit of transition and starting to look different than it previously did. Still a long shot but I think a reasonable path to explore.
-
Is there anyone more critical than you? And trust me, it isn't because you have some sort of superior football knowledge or have higer expectations than anyone else, it is because you have the never-ending need to constantly sh*t all over everything, over and over again, non-stop.

If you're going to add a sport in the hope for stability, football is a much bigger priority. Prevents the "safety" of universities being able to go FBS and have a separate home for their Olympic sports plus there are more football sponsoring schools than hockey sponsoring. Even if there was a Summit hockey, it would be much more likely to allow an associate member in that than it would in football, particularly since it is going to be required for almost half the current league from Day 1 (CC, WMU, Miami, Duluth SCSU). I don't see the major benefit from trying to roll the NCHC under the Summit umbrella like I would see with football.
-
If those were the only two highlights you took out of this whole season, your whole attitude about the program makes a lot more sense now.
-
Very possible, but we have already grabbed one or two recruits like this that we would probably assume are out of UND's league. Seems like Mallory has been able to sell to these kids the chance to be the top dog and team leader that you might not get at P5 school. Will be interesting to keep an eye on how things go.
-
Or......being the commissioner of an all-sports conference gives someone both higher pay and a lot more future career opportunities. Would the NCHC falling under the Summit umbrella actually be an overall net positive for them? Sure you can reduce administrative costs and your safety net is much broader, but they are already profitable and have a rainy day fund built up. Now those funds are used instead to help non-revenue sports.
-
UND and every other team in the country are constantly looking for post players. At the mid-major level, you aren't going to get someone coming in who's polished. Based on where the other Summit teams are rated and how they have been performing, I think you're selling them a bit short. The league looks to be pretty down this year outside of 1-2 teams.

It also doesn't say EGF down the front of it Maybe East Side would be more apt?
-
There were at least a handful of players that missed games for reasons other than injuries, they just weren't discussed because they were not as noticeable.
-
Agree with this. He's a proven commodity, the other two still have a long way to go before they are at that point. Despite some negative, I doubt the staff is looking at it as net positive no matter how you spin it. And who knows if the door is actually closed. No public comments from him unlike many others in the portal. That being said, whatever happens, happens and you move on with those that want to be here.
-
Agreed. You can believe whatever you want, but it doesn't make it true.
-
Pretty solid advice since there is a lot going on behind the scenes and in this particular case, the player has not indicated anything publicly. Maybe some realize the grass isn't greener and are welcomed back. Maybe they aren't.
