I'd love to see the source on 16k in Frisco. The majority of the crowd was NDSU but it wasn't 75%.
-
Not going to throw any kids under the bus from either school, but there is a whole lot of things not included in either post, particularly MIP/MIC's..
-
I actually wasn't directing my post at you. I understand what you are saying (maybe a little harsh, but I get your underlying reasoning). I was more referring to those that would prefer all sports but hockey be shut down or turned into club teams.
-
If they had the rights to any hockey, they would have an incentive to promote it instead of bury it or not show any highlights at all. Chicken/egg situation, but there is a definite correlation between what they can broadcast and what they show highlights for.
-
I'm not so certain UND had the funds in place at the time to support a move. I'm also not sure that NDSU did either, but they took a leap of faith and it worked out well for them.

It isn't an issue with being a fan of hockey only, its the fans who put down every other sport as not being important and dismiss those student-athletes as second or third rate (not directing this at you). That's fine that you don't enjoy any basketball, there are sports UND participates in that I am not all that interested in either, but I still support those student-athletes and hope they excel both on and off the field (again not directing at you personally). There is definitely a subset that not only could care less about other sports outside of hockey, but are vocal that they are unimportant to the athletic department and university as a whole. The nickname issue showed a definite divide as some were all for keeping the nickname because it wouldn't effect the hockey team all that much but had the possibility of being devasting to the rest of the athletic department and because of that, were fine with keeping the nickname and sanctions that came with it.
-
Don't really care either way, but all three of the hockey games were neutral sites vs one of the three football games. Also a longer layoff for planning travel for the football championship. Comparison isn't all that valid.

Just curious where you got those numbers. I had been looking for something similar a while back and wasn't able to find anything.
-
If you think the general sports following population gives a second thought to either of them other than flash-in-the-pan moments, you're kidding yourself.

George Mason, Boston U, Bradley, any of the Cal State's, Creighton, Denver, DePaul, Gonzaga, George Washington, Marquette, NYU, Seton Hall, Wichita State, Xavier, etc, etc, etc.... Plus, 50% of your main conference doesn't sponsor football as well, along with quite a few teams who have left it behind.
-
Well that is just inaccurate. Though I would love to hear your definition of a "major school". You're doing so well impressing people over on FU's board lately, let's see what you got.
-
You should know by now that Dan doesn't let facts get in the way when he thinks he has a good argument. Anything to change the subject away from more news about an FU player and their run in's with the law.
-
Not so much. The lowest rated game drew almost 4x the viewers this year and highest was over 7x the viewers.
-
I'd imagine they mainly pick up stuff that makes it on to the bigger sites (ESPN, FoxSports, etc), hence the reason the voter fraud gang is on there and not much else. Not sure how the site picked up the baseball player, (un)lucky guy. Both schools would be more than represented if all the MIC's showed up.
-
2-4. Sounds like how many of your players are in line to miss the opening game because of offseason activities. (Also could use 2-4 as the number of former FU players who currently have warrants outstanding for not completing community service)
-
You know why Bolh closed off FU's practice to the media? He was embarassed at all the parole officers that were required to be present.
-
Maybe there is something to the saying that simple minds are easily amused.
-
Would St. Cloud take offense to first half of that?
-
No. The inferiority complex won't allow it. Haven't figured that out yet?
-
Seems to be a common theme....
-
I assumed so. That mean he won't be playing at all this year? Is he working on getting them back up so he can join the team when eligible?
-
Robertson is not listed on the roster, but is listed under "WR Newcomers" and as a RFr in the class breakdown. Under Newcomers, it lists his number as 6, which is the same as Bartels. If Robertson is on the team and plays, not sure how those two could have the same number.

That was just the cherry on top. There was a fair amount of build-up before and after that.
