  1. Have I missed some articles? I haven't seen any actual local journalists that have criticized him. I don't pay attention to much national stuff but I haven't seen much of that either. Message board fodder is about the only thing critical I've seen of him and most of it is more just curiousness of why he isn't playing or even second string at this point.
  2. Per Tom Miller's article in the Herald, Solomon Rolls-Tyson has left the team and signed to play pro basketball in Norway. He was a transfer from Utah State Eastern College and had not played in any games this season.

    2017 Season

Just to clarify further, FCS can have up to 85 players on scholarship, however they can only give out the equivalent of 63 scholarships among those players. FCS and FBS teams have similar amount of scholarship players, but every player on an FBS team is on a full scholarship (excluding walk-ons for both teams of course) while the amount of money an FCS player gets can vary.
  4. Unfortunately he hasn't win the BSC tourney or came even close to winning all the OOC games (with no big upsets at all). So he is missing on both of your hypotheticals which is the reasonv for the serious discontent. And I stated he brings good kids here, the problem is the results have been below what they seem that they should be with the seemingly above average talent he has brought in
  5. Within the Big Sky, relative to where his salary ranks and where his teams have finished, UND is probably coming out slightly ahead with Jones. But regular season finishes and making it to the semis or finals of the conference tournament don't matter because the ultimate goal of a low to mid-major is to win the conference tournament and make the dance. Jones has not done that. Being close only buys you so much time. And if he had been making twice as much the last 3-4 years, his teams would have performed exactly the same and he would then qualify as underperforming. He hasn't done anything to deserve much of a raise and more money to the same coach won't fix the problem. In regards to OOC pay, he has performed below his salary. I think the frustrating thing to most everyone is that he appears capable of bringing the horses to Grand Forks, but once they are here, they don't seem to be able to reach the ultimate goal. At some point, the excuses of the nickname, the transition, lack of conference, etc. are no longer valid and it seems we are at that point, which is likely that it seems he is coaching without a contract beyond this season. I'm normally not a fan of that kind of scenario but a line needed to be drawn in the sand somewhere and it appears it was. The only caveat I'll make on this is similar to what the football team faced under Mussman: the assistant salary pool is too low and certainly has led to the merry-go-round at the assistant coach positions. The lack of stability and need to continuously bring in younger guys that are still learning (some of which have been great hires), definitely does not help anything.
  6. The Cay actually does have pretty good burgers, so you aren't totally wrong. $1 cheeseburgers used to be their busiest night.
  7. My mistake, considering the thread topic, I misunderstood where you were directing your comments. Misguided comment on my part, I'll remove it to get rid of the confusion.
  8. You haven't seen the contract, so you can't say for certain if there is any clauses that prevent or pertain to change in membership. The language in each TV contract varies greatly. I would also venture to guess the damages clause is fairly insignificant because I doubt that CBS Sports is paying very much for the TV rights. It is more of a mutually beneficial agreement where CBS Sports gets some cheap live sports and the NCHC get more exposure without having to pay the production costs. WMU and Miami each host one game that is broadcast on CBS Sports. You really think CBS Sports are going to walk away from the relationship if they lose some eyeballs in Miami, OH or Kalamazoo, MI? That being said, neither of those teams are leaving the NCHC at this point or anytime in the near future. There is no upside. I'm also not sure how the exit fees of all sport conferences have any relevance to the exit fees of the NCHC. The cost to leave the NCHC is roughly the equivalency of one year's operating cost for the league, which at this point is around $1.5million.
  9. Their athletic budget is already 75% subsidized, to the equivalent of almost $1,100/student/year.
  10. Considering the backlash and overreactions that you and your FargoU buddies have had over smaller things such as simple logo update (no lighting bolt?!), preliminary seeding releases (e-mail the whole committee!!) and the tragedy of almost not getting to watch an intro video, I have a pretty good idea on how it would have turned out...
  11. He still has to apply and be granted a medical hardship since he appeared in games for 4 years, but it is very likely to be granted and much more likely than someone who is applying for a 6th year similar to what Clive Georges is trying to get granted. I did find it interesting that even though he knew he was going to have season ending surgery, he still played in the EWU Iowa game because even in doing so, he would still be under the 30% of games threshold.
  12. I don't think what Baldwin did was necessary but I'm not going to jump all over him for it (unless you had money on the game) The whole thing is a non-story and just part of the game if Fran doesn't react the way he did, and its never talked about. However the ESPN story did say he regretted it.
  13. Fran seems like a real treat. Maybe just a little bit of overreaction on his part, though from his comments, maybe its common. The anger on the technical on Hooker really confuses me. Yes Q baited him and sold it, but the guy caught him straight across the face, which is why they called it even after reviewing it. You can't make contact to the head, intentional or not, period (despite what the refs at UNI think....)
  14. All 7 were out for the semis, however only two were very noticeable (leading tackler and #2 WR). The other guys were just depth/rotation guys or didn't play a ton, so it probably wasn't as noticeable. I did see that some of the Fargo media acknowledged they knew the main 2 players weren't playing, not sure how that isn't part of the game story when you are making sure to mention all of the players that NDSU was without. My understanding is that the exact same teams that took the field for JMU and YSU in the semis will be who is playing in Frisco.
  15. Looks like there are quite a few Iowa fans on their message board who don't agree with it either (although more than a handful who support it as well). Two bad decisions amplified is what it comes down to. But don't worry, there's a FargoU fan giving their input and making sure every corner of the internet still knows they exist. I also saw quite a few comments that UND was overly aggressive and physical. Did I miss something?
  16. That's the portion I agreed with. This team is incredibly confusing and frustrating to watch right now. It's by no means his fault, but I think Q getting going would help solve a lot of problems.
  17. I agree with a portion of this, but I don't think the scheduling thing has any relation. I'm not sure what Baldwin was doing short of he knew there was still time on the clock and the guy was just holding the ball out there. He really doesn't seem like the kind of guy that would do something with poor intent. I also feel confident Jones would get blasted if the roles were reversed and he directed his team off the court for that.
  18. Turnovers are a big concern the last few games. Just sloppy turnovers that are preventable and pretty uncharacteristic. Geno needs to get it figured out. Hooker needs to shake his funk. Apparently Iowa didn't care for Baldwin stripping the ball with a few seconds left. Actually pretty surprised when I saw who did it. I don't have a problem taking issue with it, but it's no reason to walk off the court.

    2017 Season

Good thing Faison was reading siouxsports last week, I was starting to get worried he had completely forgotten about Bubba and staff...
  20. After hearing a similar reaction from quite a few people, I've come to the conclusion that the fact that you don't know if he's serious or not says volumes in and of itself.
  21. The reason he dunked it was because Richman decided to start pressing with his starters after the game was out of hand and continued it after a basket with 14 seconds to go. Collins was left all alone under the hoop. Maybe Jones should have called timeout to get in some backups?
  22. Denver's downfall is their sports don't match up with the MVC and they have zero desire to fix it.
  23. If your want to talk about poor form, maybe you should mention the game would have been over if Richman wouldn't have called a timeout with 24 seconds left. I guess I'd rather have a team that shows a little fire and they care about losing rather than pouting up and down the court. I'd also take a deeper look in terms of reaction during and after both games. While I have no issue with what either team did during either game, it's just sour grapes if you find a way to be offended by one and not the other. The away team was better in both games, on to conference play.
  24. There is one signed for next year (Moody) . There was one on the roster the last few years (though as a walk-on). Before that you had Brekke, Allard, Big Mike and Wilmer, all who could be considered "local". I don't think the staff has really missed on any local kids that didn't come here, though getting one or two of them as a walk-on would have been nice. Lien was the most interesting one to me. That's not saying they haven't missed on a few kids that did come here, but that's just a given in college recruiting.
  25. Looking at minutes played this far, I'm not sure either of them were being counted on as big contributors in the rotation.
