Interesting. Thanks for the clarification.

Yes, KVLY has exclusive rights to NDSU football. The language from the renewal agreement release states that UND Sports Extra along with the North Dakota hockey show would continue, along with the addition of a weekly football show in 2018, so let's maybe pump the brakes until we know exactly what is going on. You're right though, no one forced them to sign a contract nor were they forced to pay UND over $1.4 million for the rights, but I think we should all be pretty happy they did. Remember, they are paying to provide coverage, they aren't going to do something they think will significantly hurt the brand since they are kind of relying on the success of it to make money.

Probably makes sense to wait and see what the plan and or/reasoning is before jumping all over the company that pays UND to air their games. KVLY holds NDSU's football rights so no.

The School packages will be available later. Right now it's just the early bird pricing for the Annual Pass.

I've already shown that this isn't true. There is no distinction between exit periods for Olympic sports and football in the by-laws. UND is fully leaving the conference in all sports at the same time, however they are keeping a "scheduling alliance" for football in the interim until they move into the MVFC. Lack of vision for starters.

University of North Dakota Hockey 2017-18 Season

I mean, the weekend before, tickets will be $25/seat. Same with Thanksgiving weekend. I guess I see nothing wrong with a dynamic pricing model for games that are going to have a huge demand as long as they are offsetting it by lowering the price for games with less demand. I mean, for the right price, I'd sell my wife and kids tickets. -
I know that they paid more than bus fare and he left out that UND also played at Kansas State that season. A B1G team, a B12 team and a MVC team. Also played at Bowling Green in 2013/2014. Looks to me that 2016-2017 was the outlier. Guessing they would have scheduled another money game but they instead were trying to get a home game that fell through.

It's what low/mid-majors do. Nothing new or out of the ordinary compared to the past or what peers do.
-
Not exactly sure what Kennedy does or doesn't know, but in terms of costs, the move made a ton of sense, especially with the huge budget slashes coming down from the state. I'd argue UND's only true peers in the Big Sky are UM, MSU and Idaho. Tough to count Cal-Poly and UC-Davis when they are affiliate members for football only. UND has just as many, if not more, like-minded schools in the Summit with NDSU, SDSU, USD and Denver. This isn't an argument that the Big Sky doesn't have some advantages over the Summit **coughstabilitycough** but there are definite reasons for both. Since the decision has been made, hopefully UND can help be part of the solution that stops the revolving door in and out of the Summit.

University of North Dakota Hockey 2017-18 Season

Secondary prices will still easily exceed that and to counter balance it, there are a handful of games for only $25. I don't see a huge issue with the athletic department trying to get their cut of what a ticket is actually worth. -
Suggestions have been taken into account. There was another thread somewhere with a bunch and I feel pretty confident that at least one person on the committee saw them, if not more. Doesn't hurt to put them in a specific place though.

3-5 in conference last season, would be melt-down city if they do worse than that.
-
Well yeah, it's because UND has an easy schedule and doesn't play EWU or UM this year......oh wait, needs to be a different excuse for this year..... Well UND misses Cal Poly, NAU and Weber this year. And they are all super-duper extra tough, way more than last season, especially now that they aren't on UND's schedule!
-
Yes. Then 2024 and 2025 if they stick with current policy. Expect an FBS game and a home game.
-
How many members did the Summit lose and gain during that same time frame? Lost Oral Roberts IUPUI Oakland UMKC SUU Gained Oral Roberts Omaha Denver That excludes Centenary (lost) and USD (gained) which occurred in 2011.
-
I'd guess Sherva will likely end up seeing more playing time than most expect. On top of that, despite the position having a ton of talent at the top, there really isn't anyone behind them. There were 7 RB's on the roster and one of them is a converted fullback and another might have moved back to LB, though I'm not positive on that.

Good depth pick-up. Looks like a nice change of pace guy who can spell the top 3 guys if necessary.

Incorporate the silo into the R?

I'm sure there will be a few money games. Doesn't look like many of the bigger schools have released their schedule yet. Also found a home game against Presentation, which is no surprise.
-
UND travels to SDSU on 12/12. Not sure if it is the front end of a home/home or a paid game. Hopefully the former. 11/27 - Presentation 12/5 - @Creighton 12/9 - NDSU 12/12 - @SDSU 1/16 - @NDSU

The problem is that those that don't like or haven't accepted the reality of a new nickname seem to equate any attempt UND makes at marketing themselves and the athletic department as "forcing it down people's throat" which is absurd. UND is finally stepping up their marketing after a lackluster 5+ years in that department, people will just have to accept that the Fighting Hawks brand is going to be part of that. The alternative is the status quo on how they were previously handling their marketing and Kennedy has made it clear that path is not acceptable. I can't say I disagree with him. It was embarrassing the lack of resources that were being dedicated towards promotion and branding, though with how big of a mess that area was, you can't really blame them. They finally have things put into place to make a push and are following through accordingly.
-
Yep, just didn't want to get people too worried if not necessary. Lot of concern on his and the trainer's face right away. I had a few choice thoughts immediately as well. Guessing he didn't do much the rest of practice as precautionary reasons as he seemed OK for the most part jogging across the field after 10 minutes or so talking with the trainers.

I can't top Teeder's review but I agree with pretty much all of what he said. Greibel and Erbes joined Hunt on the sidelines today, but nothing that looked real serious. One of the CB's went down with an upper body injury during drills, they took a long look at him and sent him over to the sidelines to watch the rest of practice (at least until I left). Hopefully nothing serious, though I was near where it happened and was concerned from the initial reaction from the player. Ray Haas just looks like an absolute monster out there lining up on the edge as an OLB. Impressive how a lot of true freshman look the part already. Thought the offense had a little better showing than the defense in the live drills I saw. Seemed to me that there was a focus on getting the ball to the TE's in a lot of drills. Not sure if it was a point of emphasis or just what the defense was giving them. Bartosh's catch got a great reaction from the crowd and offense. Not so much from the defense who intially thought they had at least a pass break up if not an interception.

There's at least handful of schools or pro teams that use negative white space in their logo at center ice: And again, it looks just fine on the mock-ups the Sioux Shop already sells:
-
Meh, they sell beanbag boards in the SiouxShop and if they did it like that, it would look just fine. Obviously the word mark wouldn't be there and there would be the sponsor and conference graphics, but overall, I think it would look better than doing just a word mark, which was pretty subpar when they tried it last time.
