Correct. In the FCS you can spread 63 scholarships across 85 players (equivalency, the scholarships added up can't exceed 63). In FBS, you can have 85 players on scholarship and they all count for a full whether they are or not (head count, anyone who gets any sort of scholarship counts toward the 85). Outside of disciplinary reasons, I'm not sure I've ever seen less than a full ride being given out.
  2. Deluca played as a true freshman and never sat out a year, so he was granted the opportunity to play 4 full seasons in 5 years. Serious injuries tend to be one of the downsides of red-shirting.

I guess I disagree. He's a level-headed poster even if I don't agree with everything he says. Might show a little bias one way or another on some posts but whatever. And if he didn't have at least a little bias against UND (real or imaginary), then I would have even less faith in what he was saying...

Agree on the first sentence but your second one is technically wrong. Most FCS teams have very close to the same amount of scholarship players as FBS teams, however the amount of the scholarship varies. The difference is a lot of FCS kids aren't on full rides, whereas every FBS kid is. I only mention it because I don't think people know the difference (though I'm positive you do). If an FCS program gave it's scholarships out evenly (in reality they don't), every scholarship player would have right around a 75% ride. This is obviously a difference when compared to FBS, and those players who are getting FBS looks likely get well over the 75%, but magically adding 22 new scholarship players when comparing the two is definitely a huge overstatement on the differences.
  5. No I fully understand. NDSU came out a year ahead of time and announced the head coach was a lame duck. When she left, instead of doing a national search, they promoted an unexperienced coach (who I agree was an excellent player) and named her interim coach and then said they would do a search at the end of the upcoming season. I don't think it's strange to question a D-1 program hiring a coach with minimal experience (2 years high school, one of which was as an assistant, and 2 years as the 2nd assistant at NDSU) instead of actually opening up a search. On top of that, it appears instead of giving her 2 assistant coaches like the previous staff had, she gets 1 assistant and a Grad Assistant.
  6. I don't think they'd hesitate to cut ties with a football or men's basketball coach if there were struggles but fortunately for you guys, that hasn't been an issue. It's been clear they will let a coach run WBB and VB into the ground though. From box scores, it appears the interim coach is doing a much better job, may work out for them in the end but still is a headscratcher on the surface.
  7. Then why didn't they fire her instead of telling her she could coach out the remainder of her contract? Seems strange if they were aware of that many issues and that they weren't going to renew her contract, they wouldn't just cut ties instead of letting the problem get worse. While it appears the team is playing better, it also doesn't explain the strange decision to name an interim coach for a season and announce you'll be doing a national search next season.
  8. Well this is just misinformed and completely wrong...
  9. I get why the staff made the decisions they did but to have a realistic chance, at least 2 if not all 3 of those field goals need to be TD's to beat a team like Utah. That being said, Taubs looked great. I don't get the criticism some give him. I think he'd be the first to admit last season he still hadn't regained all his leg strength from hip surgery he had, but he was pretty solid. Looks to be well on track this season.
  10. UND outscored opponents 188-107 in the 2nd half last year. The only two teams (out of 13) to outscore UND after halftime were Stony Brook (6-2) and Richmond (20-7). Seems to make they are doing something right.
  11. They have released SRO/Restricted view tickets in the Club Lounge. Same price as the regular tickets. Gets you in the door I guess.
  12. Iowa ended 2016 ranked 41st by Sagarin. Time will tell where Utah finishes and not that it means anything at this point, but they are starting the season at 24.
  13. I noticed a few other comments on this and I wanted to point out that I think that one is on the OL, not Keaton. He was under pressure before he finished his dropback and he to get rid of the ball with no chance to go through any progression or see the safetyroll over to the WR's, leaving the seam open for Fiedler. It was painful to watch the replay, if Keaton has a couple seconds, it's a TD.
  14. At least not on the west side of One Ralph Engelstad Arena Dr....
  15. This is why the floor hasn't been redone yet. It doesn't make sense (or cents) to update the logo this year and then have to go back and update the conference affiliation next year.
  16. Not a single thing you've tried claiming "See, I told you" has even been relevant but keep swinging or try learning some facts before making uniformed commentary. There's enough issues in your own glass house to worry about them, but everyone's either busy being a fan boy or worried about losing access so nothing ever sees the light of day.

    Rings

I'm with you on this. I haven't seen anything on rings for any of the teams either.

    2017 Season

While not ideal, Shannon must have shown enough for them to make the decision. A little nerve-wracking being that thin at the safety position.
  19. Yes. The NDSU athletics magazine did a multiple part article on them a couple years back and there were multiple mentions of the UND Golden Feathers in it, though a lot of it seemed to be only in a way to shed negative light on the UND group while justifying or glossing over similar behaviors of the Rahjahs. (big surprise). Despite that, there is still some pretty interesting history.
  20. The arch-nemesis of the Rahjahs from the NDAC.
  21. Joe Schobert will be the starting MLB for the Browns this season. Guy he was competing with for the job tore his ACL.

    Jerseys

It's like they are trying to create an identity and promote a brand or something. Novel concept!
