If Brian Jones had 1/3 of the resources the hockey program had, this might be a better comparison. Instead, the basketball team has one of the lowest budgets in the nation, not highest. It is what it is.

I'm still laughing about this two days later and how there are some people that are now very conflicted (or at least should be).

They are dumpster fire with no relief in sight and I don't use that lightly. They drew a whopping 399 fans (announced attendance, not actual) for a game last week, though somehow claimed almost 1,000 more than that for their next game 2 days later. Their 5 D1 wins are over teams with the follwing RPI's (out of 349): 346, 286, 327, 302, 314. Zero chance they buy their coach out of the last year of her contract, so it will be at least one season of terrible basketball in Fargo. Can't imagine they'd extend her, time will tell how long it will take a new coach to fix the mess two bad hires have made. I don't think recruiting has gone all that well but it doesn't seem like it takes a ton of time to see big improvements in WBB.

Is he getting a scholarship? Might explain the strange timing on the signing. Possibly 4 for 5 type situation unless something opens up.

I think he thought the defender would actually, I don't know, defend? There's no reason that guy should have even got a shot off. There is literally nothing more delaying that fighting back to tie it up and then giving up a goal the next shift. That needs to stop. Flat out must win tonight. Team still controls their own destiny, but running out of time.

Listen to the players talk sometime. If you don't think Berry was the main recruiter or heavily involved in a lot of them, pull your head out of the sand. Would be more interesting to see a 5-10 year trend. A lot of these companies were having a string of record years, benefiting from a handful of things, including the boom out in western ND. I'd be more curious how this year's number relates to historical baselines, though there is no doubt construction was down overall in Grand Forks last year. However the pace it was going at wasn't sustainable, so a drop isn't a surprise, though that amount might be more than expected.

Wonder how many QB questions have been submitted and not really addressed, except for one saying that they'll let Bubba address it at his press conference? Seems like an odd answer. Maybe we have some super secret QB signed?

Pretty interesting list, thanks for compiling. Some random thoughts: Everyone struggles to a point to find big men, let alone talented ones, at this level. Most guys are going to projects of some form. It's still a little surprising there haven't been at least a couple more quality big men, especially considering Jones was a decent post player back when he played. I don't know the answer but does the up-tempo style UND plays make it easier to get guards/wings (which are easier to find in general) and hampers big man recruiting somewhat? Maybe there just aren't that many tall kids in Iowa that UI/UNI/USI/Drake don't get so there isn't much left for UND (only kind of joking).

He only has one year left on his contract if he's still on the Eagles mid-February, 2019, which is why he'll be traded within the next year. If he's traded, the other 3 years of his contract kick in. His contract actually makes him pretty valuable to trade and gives Philly significant incentive to trade him, though they still have plenty of time to do it.

I wouldn't read much into it. These guys are competitors that have treated success and also have to be frustrated with the uneven part. Nothing wrong with a little fire.

That United route is significantly subsidized and works well as long as you are going to Denver or can connect on a United flight from there. I was pricing flights out for a few different trips (including the UW football game) and surprisingly found Grand Forks cheaper on some of them than Fargo and on par with most others. However, depending on your destination, there are some where Fargo is quite a bit cheaper than Grand Forks. Part of it is there is more than just Delta to choose from.

You realize that UND is was a distant second on the deferred maintenance list right? They have actually tried to address it and taken significant steps to reduce that, in part by taking buildings that aren't worth the cost/benefit offline and moving programs into other buildings (like the former med school building).
