Is that like when Schaffer and Kennedy were moving UND to the WAC? He didn't leave there because of some random conference issue that isn't going to happen and doesn't even make sense (which you still haven't shown a link where is being talked about), he left because the president there didn't have the same vision for athletics as he did and he saw UND as a better opportunity and it was as close to an ideal time to move his family if he was going to do it at all because of the ages of his kids.
-
All of them? No. But I sat in on his forum and had a chance to ask him a few questions. EWU's conference affiliation was nowhere on the radar when discussing why he was interested in leaving EWU. And I'm not sure why it would be, there is zero reason to think the Big Sky is going anywhere despite the theories that you have floated out there and have continued to fail to materialize.
-
Like @cberkas, I didn't see that discussion anywhere. You'd think CWU would have actually already announced a move up if they were going to be in the Big Sky by 2021 instead of just starting to put funds together to upgrade their facilities, which takes multiple years at minimum. The future of the Big Sky isn't ominous despite what you keep claiming, they aren't going to go in a tailspin after decades of stability partially because there is nowhere for anyone to go. And Chaves leaving EWU had absolutely nothing to do with the Big Sky's future, I can guarantee you that.

Get out early and tailgate. The game is just the second half of the fun.

His hit rate on transfers is much higher than it has been on JuCo's.....so I guess there is that.

You don't think saying that certain guys are D2 players or that they just aren't that good is running them down? Especially when they haven't even been in the program 2 years? I'm not saying our roster needs to be made up of kids that haven't been offered elsewhere. But I'm also not naive enough to think the program is currently in a position to win a ton of recruiting battles, so the staff is going to have to find some kids that others are overlooking. Bijiek was a huge surprise, but do you suppose that had something to do with a)UND being his first offer and b)recruiting Tray Buchanan, who had no other offers when he committed?
-
I won't even bother getting into the other ones because you think Illinois State is going to add hockey? They are broke as a joke and already subsidize their athletic department at almost $20 million/year and the state is slashing funding. But it's just a matter of time....

Verbal Commits doesn't list any other offers and they don't typically miss much. Regardless, not sure why you feel the need to continue to run down UND players because of what other schools did or didn't see. The UND staff is pretty plugged in within Iowa, they are getting plenty of opinions of on guys. Some will hit, some will miss, regardless of where they are from and who did or didn't offer. A quick check of your Twitter account reveals you should probably heed your own advice.

That was my guess. Only secondary offer on wiki from Nebraska. I like 6'3" corners.
-
They are going to need both of them if you've been paying any attention. And they play different games. Tray takes more chances and scores more, but also gets outside himself and turns it over more than twice as much.

My mistake, he's terrible based off of 33 shots in 16 games. I'm young to ignore the 2 point attempts because he doesn't have the game to get to the room yet. I guess I'll go off what I see, which is fundamental basketball and not playing outside himself, and trust the guys that brought him in on this one.
-
Link? And why would they have to split? There was no intention of that when it was announced Idaho was coming back and UND was still in the league. If they were invited, the league would be in the same spot as they would have been without UND leaving. CWU would actually get them back to an even number for basketball.

Nice sample size. Those random couple minutes a game he played as a true freshman really mean a lot to the type of player he can be. If only he could have redshirted like he was supposed to do he could have put on a few pounds and get some quickness.
-
He'd also be the most athletic guy on the team right now and they sure could use his height. Which schools subscribe to your scouting service? I mean Huff, Webb and Antwi all must have been D2 players as well since they didn't have any other offers.
-
He's a true sophomore halfway through his second year in the program and as his minutes have went up, the team has been playing better. A red-shirt year would have done him good but someone had to fill the hole left by McDermott last year. He's been more than holding his own on the court for where he is in his development but some people are too stuck on how many offers a kid has to worry about that. His biggest issue is he isn't shooting enough.
-
Once he stops hesitating and starts taking the shots he's passing up, he'll be a much better player. Not sure why he's so gun-shy, he can hit from deep. Could learn a thing or two from a few of the other guys.
-
Considering our best player didn't have any D1 offers, I'm not so sure why people keep worrying about that.
-
To a point, yes. However there are more pressing needs than converting a mile of 3-lane to 4 that currently is plenty adequate. The sales tax passing this fall is a big step in not only catching up but also being able to prepare for growth.
-
A quick Google search shows he died in 2013 and was 81 at the time. Your ramblings continue to be nonsensical.
-
They are making 42nd a 4 lane from south of 6th Ave N and to the north it will be a 3 lane to Gateway with construction expected to start this year. I don't see the need to make 17th Ave to 32 Ave 4 lane until that area infills.
-
Yes, you should. I'm aware of the limits and where the team currently sits. However none of that applies to any specific player, which is what you are throwing against the wall. I'm not even saying you'll end up being wrong but there is no backing to any of those players leaving the team at this point in time.
-
No worries, reasonable people can do that. I know you have good reason for your thoughts and opinions. Summit, probably. MVFC, no. What exactly was Faison upset about? It needed to be a Summit/MVFC package, which wasn't on the table. Douple was the one who was spurned when UND cancelled their visit. He proved it when he failed to act on UND's baseball affiliation application to the Summit.
-
You obviously have some insight I don't, but the Big Sky and NCHC happened well before Schafer ever stepped on campus. I know for a fact that while it was publicly stated that there was no interest from the Summit/MVFC, that there still was continuous contact by UND gauging interest and let it be known that they were open to the possibility, again, well before either ever made it to campus. Were the budget cuts that were unattainable without a giant shift the final straws that put the move over the edge? Without a doubt, but that still doesn't happen without previous groundwork laid. Yes, Kennedy was involved, but considering University President's have the final say on conference affiliations, that is no surprise. The timing with some possible upcoming issues with other MVFC schools and more schools leaving the Summit certainly didn't hurt matters either, basically forcing the Summit to make a move and knowing that it couldn't be made without the MVFC's help. The overlap between the two presidents you mentioned and BF was 2 years out of his 9.5+ year tenure. I think he probably stayed in the job 1-2 years too long but with the other turmoil on campus, it would have been even worse to try to bring a new person into that role and handle some of the messes he dealt with. Like I said, he was far from perfect, but to say he didn't do anything good is a stretch.
-
BF was pretty good at the behind the scenes, nuts-and-bolts, administrative part of the job. He managed to get UND to convince a D1 conference to add UND in which they don't really geographically fit (which saved UND from independence purgatory, and then eventually got UND into closer conferences, one of which kept publicly saying they weren't expanding and had no reason to (other than some begging by the Summit). He also was one of the main drivers behind creating the strongest hockey conference in the nation, which saved the hockey program from being held back by some non-like minded schools in the WCHA. On top of that, he dealt with a whole pile of crap most AD's would never have to dream of (D1 transition, nickname issue, cutting sports). Could he have been a better public face and fundraiser? No doubt. But he managed some tough waters on the administrative side and has left a pretty clean plate for Chaves to step in and do his thing.

Not that rebounding doesn't need some work, because it most definitely does, but when the opposing team misses 19 3-pointers, there is going to be plenty of long rebounds that you're going to give up whether you are in position or not. 7 out of NDSU's 13 offensive boards came off 3 point attempts and another was off a blocked shot. Good win to avenge the earlier loss. Team is playing much better. It's almost like it took a while to mesh and find a solid rotation. Shocking when you're replacing 5 out of your top 8 from last year.
