  1. He’s supposed to be a set up guy himself. That’s all we heard about him before he got to UND. Haven’t seen much of that though.
  2. All you need to know is if he was a UND caliber player he probably would be in the current junior class. He committed to UND about the same time as Dylan James. He’s been playing junior hockey since 2020.
  3. It was frustrating to watch but I’ve seen games like this before where nothing seems to be working and it typically works itself out. I’ll worry more if this continues to be a trend in the next couple weeks. I’ve seen some pretty insane overreactions from non-UND fans. Apparently 4 days into the season there is no hope for our team to turn this around.
  4. I saw Merrimack was playing their student manager as goalie due to injuries to 2 of their goalies and a suspension for the other. That’s crazy!
  5. Correct. All the games tonight are not exhibition. (Aside from U18 vs Notre Dame). Tomorrow and Sunday there will be a mix of exhibition and regular season games.
  6. Reality is someone too good for the 4th line is going to be on the 4th line.
  7. I’m going to that Cornell series and noticed it’s their season opener. They have a scrimmage against Princeton and an exhibition game before that. We should be well tested by then, so hopefully it’s a good series.
  8. All I’ve heard about his recruitment is that he’s gotten interest from NCHC and Big 10 schools. It wasn’t specified which schools though.
  9. I didn’t really notice any deep ties to UMN with Berchild outside of him being from there, so him going somewhere else didn’t shock me. His parents are both from Wisconsin, and I guess I don’t find it shocking that a kid from Shattuck picks a private university. Minnesota has been oddly quiet this cycle, but I’m not sure the reasons. A lot of people who follow recruiting assumed they’d get Berchild.
  10. It’s happening because for some strange, stupid reason UND only has one goalie recruit committed at one time. Hobie Hedquist was the only goalie recruit for years and we kept deferring him, hence the transfer goalies. And now we have Caleb Heil, who unless has an absolutely monster year I don’t see them bringing him in next year. He’s still pretty young. So the cycle repeats.
  11. Davis wasn’t good to start the season but Denver was scoring a lot so it didn’t really affect their win/loss record. Denver’s team save percentage was sub .900 for quite a while. Backup wasn’t good either.
  12. It’s definitely different out East. I went to the BU games last year and a 2 tickets for both games was $86 total! im going to the Cornell series so hopefully I have better luck getting decently priced tickets for that series than ASU.
  13. I don’t lol. Some fans are more willing to pay these high prices but I’m not one of them. Most single game tickets at REA average around $40-50.
  14. Yup, $399 is the cost of 1 ticket. Also heard the face value of a ticket to this game from the box office was pretty spendy.
  15. When it was in presale you could see what was available and there was basically nothing a couple weeks ago. I actually thought resale prices dropped. There’s some in the $200s now. Originally cheapest when I first looked was $399.
  16. Mini recruiting update on the UND Hockey podcast. 1. Berchild - Schlossman doesn’t think he ends up at UND. Minnesota, Wisconsin and Denver were the schools mentioned. So I have noted not to hold my breath on this one. 2. Beuker - sounds like he’s narrowed down to 4-5 schools. UND is believed to be one of them. 3. Zajic - hasn’t heard anything either way on whether or not UND is in on him or not. They could be, but his contacts haven’t mentioned anything. (Personally I’m thinking Big10. Chicago kids seem to favor that league)
  17. Minnesota colleges start later than UND/NDSU. They start at some point after Labor Day. Don’t remember if it’s immediately after or not.
  18. I think they made an effort last summer to get more guys with some size because it was pretty obvious in the 2022-23 season that our smaller defensemen in particular were getting pushed around.
  19. I’m actually convinced that Michigan State is basically recruiting everyone.
  20. I thought it was the team that drafted him that just decided not to sign him. That’s the internet chatter anyway. I saw something on Twitter/X this morning about that. Also saw somewhere that Motzko was aware of the situation, the kid graduated and wasn’t enrolled in summer classes, so you’d think he would have found a replacement a while ago, but who knows the thought process there. If not that’s just poor communication with players.
  21. I think their goaltending is a bit of a question mark.
  22. I don’t think Schlossman always knows who UND is recruiting beforehand unless it’s like a no brainer recruit. He knows when recruits commit, but I don’t think he always knows all the targets. Or he’s just not sharing what he knows. On his last podcast that discussed recruiting there was little insight on specific UND recruiting targets.
  23. I am thinking Eli McKamey might also be one.
  24. Berchild is the only big name I’ve heard about that we REALLY want. Additionally over half of Schlossman’s “List” is committed to schools now. There’s 14 guys left. And several of those names seem likely for other schools. Im guessing we are also interested in some guys not on the List.
