The Five Nations tournament coming up will probably have more uncommitted players to watch. That’s the one Cole Bumgarner is playing in.

Just my opinion but based on the current roster of defensemen and their years in school, as well as the current recruiting pipeline, I’m not sure defensemen are a high priority for UND with this class. I’m sure we’ll get a defenseman in this class, but I see forwards being more of a priority.

By all accounts McKamey hasn’t decided yet about playing NCAA. Read an article on him from May. Sounds like a decision from him won’t happen until after this coming season unless something has changed.

It’s been highly speculated for a while that he was going to end up at BU, so not super surprising. His brother was supposed to go to BU before deciding to play in the Q.

McGroarty isn’t really a great example. He was born in Lincoln, as his dad used to coach the Lincoln Stars, but he basically grew up and played all his organized hockey in Michigan.

We haven’t realistically had much luck recruiting kids from Ontario in general at least in recent years. We will still try to recruit them, but I don’t even flinch when they commit elsewhere. Like I think I can count on one hand the number of guys from Ontario on the team in the last few years. Michigan has the benefit of proximity. And a lot of Ontario kids are probably wanting more of a big school/big city. 40% of Canada’s population lives in Ontario, it’s much more urban than Western Canada. If we are going to get any “blue chips” they’ll be from Western Canada or the US.

Saw this on Twitter/X. Not sure on the level of interest, but could be a couple names to watch when the new recruiting cycle opens.

This year was also his third year of draft eligibility. So this was the third time he’s been passed over. It was a long shot for sure.

I had always assumed it’s usually at some point after the NHL Draft, so this tracks.

I saw rumors online that it was in the six figures. But nothing confirmed.

I’d argue the logical choice is OMac, not Berg.

I just don’t see much, if any recruiting value. The U18 team is nearly all committed to schools by the time we typically play them. Most are committed prior to, or near the start of joining the U17 team.

OMac was 33 percent on draws to end the season. He will definitely be the first option to move to wing over Berg. This is why everyone has OMac pencilled in at wing on their potential line charts. It’s easily the most likely center to wing move to make.

Why are we suggesting moving our top faceoff guy (Berg) to wing?

UND basically has 8 guys you could argue could play top 6, so I think most of them you could move around in a variety of spots in the top 9 and justify it. IMO, These guys are the top 9: Berg, OMac, Perron, Boisvert, Swanson, Wilkie, James, Kunz, and Jamernik. Jamernik is for sure third line, but the other 8 you could make a case any of them would fit in a top 6 role.

Tri-City shelters him a little bit in my opinion. Plays on their second line right now, but I don’t think they gave him a single shift in the third period in tonight’s game. Didn’t think he did anything to warrant that.

He was playing in the ECHL after the season ended so…

Sorry to nitpick… But I think Montgomery should be listed with the juniors. He’s currently listed as a redshirt sophomore.

No, he graduates this spring. Commitment article indicates he will play USHL next season so that is going to be my continued assumption until we hear differently.

I wouldn’t even put Snuggerud and Wood on the same line. They both essentially do the same thing. But I’m not sure what kind of playmakers Minnesota has on their other lines. But I also don’t really care because it doesn’t affect me lol.
