  1. Is there any doubt left that Todd Anderson is the worst ref in all of college hockey ? When he is reffing you know it will be consistently f’d up. There is no doubt in my mind that the reviewed goal should have counted. If you’re not going to count it then get rid of review and just accept that mistakes are made. It is also without a doubt that St. Cloud was offsides entering the zone. Not even close, offside by two feet (was the linesman sleeping?). Was obvious watching live without any replay. So the the net result ended up the same but the referee crew made three mistakes on one play. Failed to call the offsides, were not in position to call the goal correctly, and then messed up the review. Awesome job !!!! Interesting how that overhead goal review was somehow not conclusive but somehow in the NC$$ regional two years ago the linesman could conclusively say UND was offsides using a end zone replay from 160 feet away. Talk about lack of standards. Watch Anderson’s demeanor during games when anyone questions him. He gets hostile immediately, just the opposite of what a ref should do. Very arrogant and very incompetent.
  2. How has jones been able to keep his job this long ? What’s the issue with the athletic department ? Do they not care about the basketball program ? As a fan it is getting difficult to care. The only time the games really matter are during the conference tourney. We are so far away from ever having any chance of getting an at-large bid that it makes too many games irrelevant every season. At least for me, I need to see a team that is well coached, occasionally can pull off the upset against a major school, and every now and then is good enough that you could at least make a case for an at-large bid if they fail to win the conference tourney. That would get me more excited about the program. I don’t foresee any of this being possible with the current head coach. Making the NC$$ tourney once every eight years and then getting bounced out right away is just not good enough to build up a passionate fan base IMO.
  3. The last three weekends we are 3-3 with two of the wins in overtime. The opponents are 52, 38, and 45 in the pairwise. Call them what they are, an average at best team. At this point in the season you should be getting better. I’m not seeing it. There is no reason to think anything will change for the better to allow this team to qualify based on pairwise. The hole is too big and the team just keeps digging. Their only slim hope is to win the conference tourney and there is little chance of that unless the defense and goaltending improve quite a bit.
  4. Unfortunately that says it all. To be hoping for a split against a team that is somewhere in the 40-45 pairwise range when you have already dug a huge hole...let’s keep digging and hope for a miracle.
  5. Losing even once to Canisius is bad enough but twice ? It’s not just puck luck. This team is just not very good. Maybe the worst offensive team in Sioux history. Sometimes it is puck luck. This is something beyond that.
  6. I’m also still a fan of UND hockey. Just not a fan of whatever that was this weekend.
  7. Well, at least we don’t have to be crunching calculations on the pairwise for the rest of this season. The rest of the regular season is absolutely meaningless. Don’t score another goal, save them all for the playoffs. If we do that we might be able to win the first game 2-1. If we’re really lucky we win one of the next two games 1-0 and make it to St.Paul where we will lose 2-1 while outshooting the other team 157-8.
  8. For this team to finish the season with a win would mean they would win the third place game at the Xcel. I have serious doubt they will even make it to St. Paul this year. Good chance they will be on the road for the first round (another streak broken).
  9. The good news is that we are 2-1 against teams in the bottom 10 of the pairwise. Although to be fair we should have lost the Saturday game to Anchorage (#60 of 60). If we can lose to Canisius again tomorrow we can knock them out of the bottom 10. Then this loss won’t seem so bad.
  10. Can’t wait to hear the same old cliches from the coaches and players. Bottom line is this team isn’t very good. That is mostly on the coaches, either thru poor recruiting or development of the players. Probably a bit of both.

  12. Definitely serious. He’s had a good run recently but his overall record is average even with this good run. His two titles are a good achievement but I feel like it is more than a bit of good luck. The fact remains that he has never won a single conference regular season title in 18 years. Some want to tar and feather a coach for missing one NC$$ tourney, maybe soon to be two. Sandelin has missed it 10 times including twice during this awesome run of success. Maybe the tide has turned and he will be a great coach from here on out. I can only look at the history and it is mixed at best. Right now he is having a good run, before that he wasn’t very good.
  13. Both Sandelin and the previous coach (Mike Sertich) had periods where the team was pretty good. Overall Sertich’s win percent was .515 compared to Sandelin’s .524. Sertich coached for 16 seasons and won 3 conference titles and had 4 NC$$ tourney appearances (compared to 0 and 8 in 18 seasons for Sandelin). Not sure I see much difference. IMO, It was a bit more difficult to make the tourney when Sertich was coaching. Sandelin has the advantages in tourney titles 2-0. Maybe Sandelin can keep this recent success going and improve his coaching record but for me i would not want him as our head coach. The lack of a conference title in 18 years is a huge red flag to me. Winning the old WCHA or the NCHC is a better indication of how good your team really is versus a single elimination series where more often than not the best team does not win the championship.
  14. Not sure I understand this fascination of wanting Sandelin as our head coach. Sandelin’s career record at UMD is barely above .500. He has had consecutive season records of 15-17-6, 11-25-3, 13-21-5, 13-17-6. In 18 seasons he has NEVER won a conference regular season title. He has missed the NC$$ tourney more times than he’s made it. I’m not a Berry fan but I also don’t want Sandelin as our next coach either.
  15. While I’m not a fan of Berry as head coach, how long would a coach last at UND that has a career record of slightly above .500 ? In addition has put up consecutive season records of 15-17-6, 11-25-3, 13-21-5, 13-17-6. Also, in 18 seasons has never won a conference regular season title ?
  16. Don’t know if Shaw is in it for the long haul. Will be interesting to see if he stays once his son is done playing after this season. I do think it will be his choice to stay or go, he’s not going to be terminated.
  17. Chaves won’t do anything in regard to the coaches. He should but I don’t see it happening. Bubba and staff will be here for at least the next two years. Good luck with attendance. Gonna be quite a long time until we are a top team. Hard to get excited about the future of the football program. We can only be as good as the leadership at UND, from the president to the athletic director to the coaches. Do we really want to be a top team ? Are we willing to do what is necessary ? The ball in Chaves court to see what type of leader he is. Unfortunately I predict he punts. I sincerely hope I am wrong.
  18. A start but not enough. Bubba has to go. He has shown over and over again that he is not up to the task of building a championship FCS team. Keeping him and getting rid of some assistants does nothing in the long run but delay the timeframe when UND can compete for a championship.
  19. Almost looks like the defense gave up once Bubba decided to give up and punt.
  20. Seasons over. The only thing that would make this somewhat OK is if the entire staff is canned. Willing to bet that the AD won’t do it.
  21. WTF will it take for Bubba to replace this QB ? Unbelievable !!
  22. On obvious pass plays I would blitz Ketteringham every single time. UND can’t make blocking adjustments and Ketteringham doesn’t move and looks scared.
