year, conference finish, nc$$ results 2015-16 1st National Champs 2016-17 4th lost* 4-3 ot BU first game 2017-18. 4th Missed Tourney 2018-19 5th Missed Tourney 2019-20 1st Covid 2020-21 1st lost 3-2 5ot UMD reg.final 2021-22 T-1st lost 2-1 ot ND first game 2022-23 6th Missed Tourney Boom or bust as far as NCHC is concerned. Won or shared four titles, finished 4th or lower four times. In the past six years they won or shared the NCHC title three times but also missed the NC$$ tourney three times. Very mixed bag of results. Conference titles are nice (and you could argue it is a better representation of the season than a single game elimination tournament) but it doesn’t mean much when they are quickly eliminated in the NC$$ tourney. The fact that 50% of the past six years we didn’t even qualify for a shot, along with quick elimination when they have qualified makes it hard to support Berry. We may have been spoiled under Hakstol when they made 7 frozen fours in 11 seasons. Even though they didn’t get the big prize there was a lot of exciting games (seven regional championships). Give me the Hakstol era over the Berry era, at least to this point.

UND vs. Clown @ The X - Frozen Faceoff semis GAMEDAY
rochsioux replied to stoneySIOUX's topic in Men's Hockey
Unfortunately a very fitting end to a massively disappointing season. -
UND is the 7:30 game.

Hasn’t every team beaten St. Cloud in an NC$$ tourney game at some point? If you want to say that it’s a great accomplishment to beat AIC then knock yourself out. I’m sure Brad Berry would agree.
-
But it came against mighty AIC in the hostile environment of Scheels arena. That should get some bonus points.

Two bad hockey teams
-
2/3 win, 1/3 loss as far as pairwise is concerned.
-
Altru is going to hire these refs. They’ve proven they can shove their head so far up their own a$$ that they are a perfect skill match to perform colonoscopies.
-
We are far enough into the season that I don’t expect to see any meaningful improvement in their awful, horrendous, completely sh**y, defensive play.
-
Would be nice if they had one for the puck.
-
Does it matter? Either way it falls on the coaching staff.
-
If they only had an end zone replay from the other end of the ice then they could have conclusively said it was offsides.
-
Vikings need to get more physical on both lines, need more speed on D, and need to tackle better. A new defensive coordinator is also a requirement.
-
Especially when you’re not good enough defensively to even attempt it.
-
Can’t see any way they make the NC$$ tourney based on pairwise. We’re 23 games into the season and our defense and goaltending has shown no improvement, probably has actually gotten worse after this weekend. Don’t see them turning this around. This is all on Berry and the coaching staff. Either poor coaching or poor talent evaluation and recruiting, take your pick or all of the above. Very disappointing.

Time for a group hug.

DeRidder has at least proved he can do the job at this level. His last two years at Michigan State he had save % of .923 and .918 (his first two years were also over 90%). Hellsten save percentage last year and this year is 87-88%.
-
Not sure what the coaches see in Hellsten.
-
That should do it.
-
Very disappointing season so far. Massive underachievement.

Carson Wentz taking Philly err Indy err DC by storm
rochsioux replied to SiouxVolley's topic in Non-collegiate sports
Hard to see any team taking a chance with Wentz being their starter. He needs to be able to go somewhere and accept the backup role and pay reduction. If he does that and puts in the work to better himself and stay prepared he will likely get another chance to start due to injuries or poor play by the starter. -
Doesn’t really matter. If the Vikings are the three seed (which is highly likely) and they happen to win their first playoff game, their only real hope is if the two seed happens to lose to the seven seed. Then they would get another home game against the winner of the 4/5 game. My ideal scenario: Seeding: 1-eagles, 2-49ers, 3-Vikings, 4-bucs, 5-cows, 6-giants, 7-packers. Packers over 49ers, Vikings over giants, bucs over cows. Packers over eagles, Vikings over bucs Vikings over packers Three home games for the Vikings against the giants, bucs, and packers. Trip to the Super Bowl to lose #5.
