    Game over.

First of all I want to repeat; Sioux fans ought PROTEST, I say put 20,000 of us with our neighbors from Standing Rock and Spirit Lake on the streets outside the next SBofE meeting in Bismark. See if the media covers that as well as they did the 10 anti-Sioux protesters that the media exaggerated on the opening day at the RALPH?? I live in Colorado and I see all of the Sioux fans here. I have been to multiple Frozen Fours and have seen all the thousands of Sioux Fans there. I know the PASSION! I know the numbers! 12 thousand go to one hockey game in Grand Forks! There are over 10 thousand students enrolled this year. So stand-up! Then in the end, you can at least KNOW that you did what YOU could! When was the last time citizens of NoDak showed up for a protest anyway?? It's not that hard!! It won't hurt!! another topic.. ...Does anyone have an idea what will happen with the Sioux logo trademark? Think about it, if the arena keeps everything, AND THEY BETTER!, then it would be awesome if anyone could start producting Sioux logo apperral and sell it to fans. So what if the Jerseys change, The arena and our Jerseys could prosper!! That is the stuff of legend!

    Game over.

I cannot believe that Sioux fans are so Goddamn lame! Listen to you all whine about this like something is being done to you and you have NO control over it. Of all of the things that this country was founded upon, there was non greater that the will of the people triumphing. Just put it in context for one second fellow Sioux Fans, you live in a state with a great military service background. Do you not get the idea of sacrifice for what you believe in and love? The whole idea that no one in the state has even suggested organizing and creating a formal protest is MIND BOGGLING to me. Has the media in our country neutered us that much. To be complacent or fearful so much that we only type on our keyboards and sit on our fat asses and listen to the news like it is our god? WTF? Thow could PROTEST. ORGANIZE, MARCH!!! really what the F else you going to do? Maybe watch Dancing With The Stars? Maybe a little NBA or NHL? How much do you REALLLLY care about the Sioux name and the tradition and history and name sake that go with it. You do know that it goes well beyond the borders of the state don't you? Is it not enough of a SPECIAL thing to maybe drive down to Bismark with 20 or 30, hell why not 50 THOUSAND fellow Sioux fans and protest. Protest at the next SBof F*cking Joke's next meeting! Protest in the Streets outside Kelley's house!! Why is it that YOU will not do anything significant?? If you can't your not worth it and YOU do not deserve to enjoy (for FREE) the great experience it is to be a Sioux Fan. I will DRIVE from Colorado and meet you all wherever we can decide to protest. What do you think the SBofF*cking joke would do if 50,000 peaceful protesters showed up at their next meeting?? huh? The advocates at Standing Rock will take care of that end are we going to take care of ours???
  3. Still seems like there is more to this story. Check out these reports from back last year (I assume); NHL Central Scouting
  4. What the heck is going on with Danny Mattson? He was doing gang-busters in HS and he was rated around 50 before last years draft and he went undrafted. That was weird, what did every NHL club know that the ranking fellas didn't?? Then, this year he is not even on it?? Does anyone know if he has had some injury or did he just get fat? hehe
  5. Actually, it's interesting in a way. Let's consider another angle. Maybe what Standing Rock is doing is trying to get a definitive ccomittment from SBofE on what it intends to do IF there is an election and the name is favored. Because let's be real about it, even if a vote is done and goes the way we think it will, the SBofE could say that it isn't enough and demand some Tribal Counsel degree regarding timelines of approval and stipulations of no reversal bla bla bla (yada, yada, yada as Myles would say). So maybe they want to hear what the SBofE is going to do IF the resolution passes??
  6. Hey mplsbison - nice post in the comments section of the Forum. Isn't it great that we all can say what we want. Especially for those of us that operate under the guise that if you say it then it makes it true...
  7. Maybe if we huuury up and get into the Summit, we can use the landfall of money from the NCAA tourney to build a big new arena where we can draw thousands of fans to our games and get all of the cash from some high attendance figures!! Then our programs will have some cash and wont have to make decisions that go against our principals just for the all mighty dollar
  8. I wonder what Eddie thinks about that arguement?
  9. So we should adjust his numbers for deflation. What was the league scoring average in, say, 1989-1991 seasons divided into, say, 2008-2010 seasons. Find out that ratio and multiply it by Johnson's numbers and see what you have? ...I missed Hrkac by two seasons so I didn't get to see that show.
  10. Exactly, Duncs best year, a Hobey year, was basically equivolent to Johnsons two lowest years. Johnson was a special player, had he not followed Hrkac by only a couple years he would have been much more singled out in Sioux lore. As it stands he got very unlucky his senior year as he was the odds on shoe-in for the Hobey until Paul Koryia had that Hrkac year in Maine!
  11. This thread has been about "legacy" as a Sioux. It is a worthy topic and in no way suggest we are at all what you mentioned above. It is a fair discussion to consider players "legacy" impact on a team. To correct you as well, in my above thread I asked about what players had the greatest legacy and I qualified that as being measured by several things including high end numbers as an expample, so it was never intended to just be about championships. Although, I will argue that winning titles goes along way in creating "legacy". Do you think Eruzione would be a US olympic legacy if the US would have not won the gold. How bout Bird or JOhnson in the NBA? Consider this, I strongly feel that Cris Carter was the best receiver of all time in the NFL. I think he was in a league of his own when it came to the ability to make an incredible catch or get to the first down marker. How many people would say he was a greater receiver than, say, Jerry Rice? Not many, but I watched them both and I say Cris Carter made 10 catches every year that were as incredible as Rice's 10 best for his whole career. BUT Carter did not win championships? Nope! So there you go. Now, following what my previous post was about, Sioux legacy, you and I share the same favorite Sioux player. I have never seen a Sioux player that matches Greg Johnson's talents and level of play. In my opinion he is a top 5 UND legacy. I base this on his numbers. 4 years with 50pts! (55,79,74,54). When was the last player who got 50pts for the Sioux in any year? He holds the record for career assists. That is a quite a legacy I think..
  12. It's an interesting consideration, if you were to list all past Sioux players ranking them in order of the "legacy Impact" on the Sioux program while they were here (not NHL success), where would those players rank? Who would be #1? Who would be the top 20? Remember, impact or legacy of things done while wearing the uniform, ie, no world Juniors, or NHL or Olympic accomplishments. I understand that success other places does represent the Sioux well but let's just consider Sioux legacy playing the game with the Sioux. ie, Hobey Bakers, NCAA champs, conference champs, record holders, Good Fighters etc..
  13. That sounds like a very nice setup. After you get everything set up make sure to throw some pics on here to inspire your fellow bleed greeners!..
  14. Ya but on the other hand I could name many teams every year in the WCHA alone that play a really good game and get hot early in the year and then spiral out in the last month or two and get smoked in the playoffs. CC for one does this every year. UMD this year, the gophs many times are hot the first half only to melt down toward the end. How about this concept?; I think it is just a matter of Hak getting a little more focused on offensive playmaking. He needs to take his top offensive player, respect the player for those talents and DEVELOPE a SCHEME around that guy. That is what the greatest coaches do. Just look at fellow UND allum coach- Phil Jackson- he creates offense around the specific abilities of his star player.
  15. Why not look at it from the perspective of where he has come from to get to where he is now? Did he not do everything right to get back to where he needed to be? Is he not doing a stand-up job being a high class collegate athelete now? It looks to me like he is. So why shouldn't this be one of those 'overcome adversity and stuggle to achieve great success.' I think if he has the productivity next year and continues on his current course then he would be more deserving than the next guy. ..Of course I think people tend to not see overcoming adversity in this way unless the person is a female or a minority. At least that's my perspective on our wonderful media, but that is another topic for sure..
  16. i agree that Fratten has the potential to light it up in a big way next year. I think he should be the WCHA leading scorer, at least PPG. That being said, I think Kristo has a chance to outscore him. Kristo really improved his play the second half this year. He developed his amazing talent into a bit of a Sioux mold. I think it was the visit from Oshie!!
  17. That would be a bad bad idea! It would take away some of our greatest fun, especially since DU is probably going to be not so good next year and he will be coming to the ralph to enjoy front row tickets for the Blood and Chay beatdown! Count down 213 days 22 hours 0 min left until the Gwaaaaaaaaaz show begins!
  18. Did Toews center at Shatucks? I remember his senior year there he averaged 2.5 PPG. That is quite impressive especially in an organization like that. He must have skill? HE has got to be the biggest mystery in a Sioux uniform in the last 20 years. We all wonder, What's up? Maybe we could all pitch in and get enough money together to pay Hak to JUST SAY IT, and let us all know what he is missing now that we thought he had, and his point production SUGGESTED he had, before he came to UND. If I was to guess I would say it is the 'prove it' expectations/ 'I deserve to be treated special' classic combo going on between coaches and Toews himself. I just hope it all gets figured out and he lights it up. I have always thought he would do well on a line with Trupp. ..BTW, Trupp had a very bad game in the Regional, several really ill advised passes on him. And Trupp is one of my favorite Sioux players..
  19. I 100% disagree that the Sioux got out worked in the first two periods. What I am about to say can be EASILY verified by watching the game again and noticing the following: In the first two periods when advancing the puck into their zone the Sioux forwards would time-after-time attempt a centering feeds through MULTIPLE defenders to a totally covered fellow forward. Each time Yale intercepted or gained the lose puck and transitioned to our zone where they would either get a shot on our net or our defense would re-gain the puck. The Sioux did one hell of a job re-gaining the puck only to lose it again immediately upon entering the Yale zone with yet another centering feed that was NOT THERE! In the third period the team (coaches)? FINALLY figured this out and our forwards CEASED trying the centering feed and instead (1)dumped it deep, (2)skated it deep, or (3)shot it on net. It is very surprising to me that HAK and CO did not solve this problem way way earlier in the game. Further, the Sioux weren't utilizing a fourth Strategy to solve the Yale defensive scheme, that being drop the puck back to the trailing player. I have posted about the drop back pass and the Sioux's reluctance to do this in the past. Sometimes the Sioux relax and start to move the puck in that way and sometimes they don't. From my vantage point when they DO move the puck in the way of dropping it back they are very successful. It yields results! In either case, whether or not it should have been that they did the drop back or worked it deep to cycle, the bottom line is they were forcing turn overs within seconds of gaining the zone because they were forcing centering passes that were not there. A team can work their ass-off doing that and they will get exactly what the Sioux did- NOTHING but tired legs and down on the scoreboard. That is what cost us our ability to have our usual dominance of the opponent in the first two periods, that is what caused us to not win the game and that is on the coaches. FYI, I like Coach Hak alot, I think he is a high end coach, but I am very sure that the above stuff is a weakness of his. It is fixable but with all due respect he should have fixed it by now, it is not a new condition, his teams have been infected with this deficit before and it seems to pop-up at very inopportune times.. So I say no to firing him and yes to educating him, after all he is a college coach Can a fan eductate a coach?? If he is correct he can.
  20. I totally disagree with the position that Woog was a homer. I have been watching him since he started doing broadcasts for FSN/ Midwest Sports channel. He has (mostly) always given the Sioux respect and credit for being one hell of a program. The last 3 years he has clearly had some issue. I used to think he was drinking before the broadcasts but now think it is probably neurological. He has my good thoughts and I hope the best for him. He is a good college hockey ambassador and a good man.
  21. I think it is misguided to aim any criticism at the tribes at all. This whole thing was manufactured by the media and the NCAA, contrary to public perception, the Sioux people did not bring this on. We (Sioux Fans) are asking them to help us tell the sick F*cks at the NCAA ( Myles Brand and Co.) that they were 100% out of line with their sweeping moronic decree. The Tribes are doing us a favor and we should just say thanks for helping out! and they should say, 'no problem and thanks for honoring our ancestors that's pretty cool'. That is the way it should all go down.
  22. the suncoast has a pretty nice sports book/bar, but the nice thing about staying there is the golf! It has a troon course right outside the front driveway and there is a TPC course two blocks away and there is also a lighted course about two blocks away. It is a pretty quiet hotel, good buffet and bowling alley and multiplex theater right in the casino. Oh and make sure to visit baby Dolls
  23. I watched the Final 5 semifinal game between Wisc and SCSU and I thought Wisc pretty clearly carried play. i thought SCSU might have milked the refs when they got the 5 min major. I think the SCSU player milked it anyway. i wonder what the stat is on game outcomes when you have to kill a 5 min major? I hope the Sioux stay out of the box in the regionals this weekend!
  24. Nov 14 2009, period 2, 2:41 a moment that will live in Sioux Hockey infamy. Wonder what Coach Motzko/Yamomoto was thinking when his goon took out our Captain? Maybe; "I fear all we have done is to awaken a sleeping giant and fill them with a terrible resolve."
  25. SiouxX2 you need to go for the bugman and all other Sioux fans who are stuck in the sand! Do it for them man! --> band plays music..
