  1. Keep n mind that a core value to being a Sioux player is resovle and a NEVER surrender attitude. I think that goes for the fans as well. Do the Sioux tradition proud and never give up! I am going to officially rename Evan Trupp to Evan SiouxsGerbe the Great and then we will all be ok. Anyone know where the courthouse is?? Seriously though, do you all remember what the Gophers did to us in that series in Grand Forks a few years back where IRmen and Pultony trators did with the kicking our butt and rubbing it in our faces with the jersey pumping act. Ya then remember how we went into their barn the next year when they were #1 in the country and just demolished them. The Gophers have never recovered from that in my opinion. I bring this up because this is what we need to do to BC!! In fact, I think our greatest victory this year would be do beat them 8-0!! I would feel about as good with that as getting a National Championship. I mean really, three straight Frozen Four Victories over us?!?! We need to Knock them DOWN!! Enough is Enough I say, and I wish I could be there to say (yell) it, all game long! Sioux fans should go to the game and sit behind the BC bench and yell that nonstop all game long and we will be victorious!
  2. I'd like to see Knight get into the zone like he did the weekend he got hurt a couple months back. He could really make his line do some damage if he got in his zone. He did start to make some nice plays in the game against Cloud. Also in that WCHA championship game Bruneteau showed a little bit of zip and playmaking. I think we should give him some props..
  3. Thanks Sioux hockey excellence inspires me
  4. We need to make a Lapoint against BC, if we draw first Blood we will let them know that we have not Gone-0-way! Then we can pull out our Trupp card and Frattin them into submittion as they feel the Eids of March crashing apon them! Then we will take our place (m)alone on the victory podium and head to Detriot as the mighty Sioux that we are and celebrate our revenge against BC of a magnitude worthy of the Count of Monti-Kristo!
  5. Anyone besides me excited to see Frattin continue his domination? I don't think most people realize just yet what level this kid is playing at. Anyone notice his speed changes on rushes. He has a freeeky overdrive burst that makes it look like my DVR is jumping. Oh and his shot is DEADDDLY! TRUST in TRUPP! I just want to throw some DAT-A-BOYS to Trupp, he got a little tease last night when the press conference host threw out that his goal last night was his first in 20 games. Trupp has been instrumental in our serge with his brilliant feeds to Malone, Frattin and Kristo and it seems that all of these guys have figured out that giving the puck up to Trupp means that they will probably have it back it about .7 seconds with a clean look at the net in front of them. They all have Trust in Trupp that the give and go will pay-off. Their volume goes to 11! (spinal tap) Frattin, Malone and Kristo have been skating on a nother level lately. When each of them does this it is some Kick-Ass stuff to watch. I should give some of this to Lamoureux too, at the end of the Gophers game last Sunday his forechecking motor almost single handedly finished the Gophs off! Of course saying this I should give some resolve and motor props to Zajak who has been killing penalties like his brother did. Well then I should mentions Hextall.... ahhh Gregoire, Marto, how bout Lapoints stick... crap forgot about Eidsness.. hehehee.. This is so fun. It's like the song that never ends!! The Sioux TEAM is HOT right now!! and I for one am loving this!... Now lets see how GWWWAAAAAZZZZZZZZZZZZZ likes it?
  6. Don't forget that hockey players usually aren't pack'n a 9. So they are not men at all. Maybe they need more Bling Bling or get into dog fighting to be more men than they currently are? you make good points, I think we should start a campain to get hockey players more like basketball players. Who should we call first? Dennis Rodman, JR don't call me Ryder?? Charles ( I think I have a brain) Barkley? MAgic, I nailed so many chick I got AIDS, Johnson? How bout C O B Y, NO MEANS YES BRyant!! LEt's just make sure our list is up to date cause we don't want to be calln some bro that is no longer with us due to a club murder or drive by. Maybe Hockey players should just TAtoo their entire bodies and sag their pants down, They would look way more like men if their pants were hangn down to their skates? Then maybe if we really turned hockey players into real men we could fill up that 12,000 seat barn, it is only 30% of the entire population of Grand Forks. That would be like 3 million people at one BULLS game huh. I sure do love rooting for a guy like Coby Bryant WAY MORE than some girl like Wayne Gretzky that is fo sur!! word!!!
  7. You're point is as ignorant as the Name change proponents. Basketball will always be a bigger NETWORK TV draw because there are BB fans all over the country but WE DON"T CARE ABOUT BASKETBALL just because NETWORK TV DOES. Why should we care about what 95% of the county cares about? What kind of criteria is that? How bout we care about what we decide for ourselves to care about and skip 'the TV says so' rational? If I was a moron I would ask a question like this; In Mexico, who cares about basketball? Let me help you not be so stupid. In North Dakota, hockey is the sport people care the most about. Should people in North Dakota care more about Basketball because there are 50 million people in places like North Carolina, Alabama, Georga, California, etc that love basketball? There are 10 Million people that love rugby in New Zealand, so maybe we better get a Rugby team then huh? Maybe we should all pimp our Cadillac's with some shinny rims cause there are 42 Million people who think that is cool! hey Idiot.. go watch some more TV so you can further you thought dogma. I would hate to have you not know what to like if the power went out. I'm sure there is something on the home shopping channel calling your name right now!@ Ya know 18 million people shop there every year and the are only 700 thousand people in the entire state of North Dakota just waiting to get on board with some sweet rim purchases on the Home Shopping Network. Idiot! FYI, the Excell Energy Center was just about full for a conference "play-in" game today and I saw on TV a NCAA BB game and the upper bowl was 100% empty and the lower bowl was maybe 80% full. Those millions of Basketball fans are not US.. You dig>?
  8. Obviously you are about saving time, that is why you didn't go back to confirm your assumptions of my points that drew you to the conclusion that my arguments were weak. Incorrect assumption #1: I am not arguing that he shouldn't have gotten a charging call. I asked the following; "For those of you that think it was worth a suspesion, what would you tell Fratten to do different as he was racing to that puck that he got to first?" Incorrect assumption #2: you sure as heck can box a player out when you have the puck and it is standard What I was refering to when I said Box out Wehrs would have meant skating past the puck (from the direction Fratten was skating) and turning his back to Wehrs as he(Fratten) "played the puck" That is legal, standard and proper body positioning when playing the puck on the boards. To bad you won't see that your assumptions were off since I get no more of your time and here is a bonus Factoid that you will miss too: Marvin's hit on Genoway cost his team the following: 1. 0 penalty minutes. 2. One regular season game without his presence. Frattin's hit on Wehrs cost the Sioux the following: 1. 5 minute MAJOR penalty (ie getting scored on does not get your player back) in a playoff game 2. one Final Five game without maybe the best player (based on current play) in the Nation. I think we payed more for both incidents huh?
  9. I asked the question, what should he have done different? Your arguments have a disregard for the fact that he and Wehrs were both in a high speed chase situation to get possesion of a puck in a do or die playoff game tied 1-1. So Fratten gets there first and decides to take the man because he has Trupp to get the puck. That is correct positioning for cycling play. We do it dozens of times a game. Now you might argue that he should have put the breaks on and boxed out Wehrs in Liou of checking him, but I would contend that he did not have him beat to the puck by enough to make that work. If Fratten would have hit the breaks and vyed for position I think he would have gotten nailed and lost an opportunity for possesion. That's how I see it.
  10. While there is always wisdom in moving on when you have no control to change the outcome, please consider that we just lost a player for a playoff single Illimination game. So I will move on by saying that I have not seen that level of offensive domination from a Fighting Sioux forward since the likes of Jason Blake. The level that Matt has been playing as of late is absolutly amazing. I will go so far as to say that if he keeps this up, even 85%-90% of what he was doing last weekend, I will argue that he is the best player in the Nation currently. So forgive me if I dwell a little on losing this guy for a playoff game. I want to see him continue this terror. Losing him is like a TV timeout when your team is on a run!
  11. Why isn't anyone mentioning the fact that he was involved in a race for the puck? They were both going full speed to get to a puck? Now there is a speed limit in hockey? Is there some rule that suggests that a player needs to slow down and let another player get to a lose puck? If Fratten were to have laid off on that contact he would have exposed himself to injury. It was just a classic case of meeting at the corner, we have all done it at the office right? If the puck would have been about 5ft around the corner of the boards closer to the direction that Fratten was traveling then Fratten would have had the worst of the hit. It was just physics, not a suspendable offense! For those of you that think it was worth a suspesion, what would you tell Fratten to do different as he was racing to that puck that he got to first? BTW, I AM VERY DISSAPOINTED in all of the SS.com members and Sioux Bloggers that threw him under the bus by saying that a suspension was warranted!! It seems that you were manipulated by mumbling (drunk?) emotional Woog? or maybe this was just what you saw as an opportunity to prove to the college hockey world that the Sioux have more rationality and dignity that everyone claims we do? FYI, that is a lost cause! we are the recipients of cheap and the ambassadors of honor and it will never be recognized. Think about what our guys say in press conferences about the other team- go review our last Wednesday press conference and listen to them, and then go listen to Kangas's interview on FSN. Our players would never speak like that, I know because I listen to every interview and the Sioux are way more poised than that.
  12. Who were the officials for the Sioux vs DU series in Denver this year? That was the most obviously fixed (via officials) sporting event I have ever witnessed!
  13. I was just checking out the frozen four since the Sioux are now playing like they might just make it there and I started to think about the tourney being in Ford Field. Am I alone in my thinking that watching a hockey game in a football arena would suck. If you're close, your low, and looking through the boards at the play and to be up at all means your a mile away! What is with doing that. Why not have it in The Redwings digs?? It's bad enough that it's in Detroit, at least they could have a good arena to watch the games. Oh well, I'll go regardless. I guess I am still bumbed out about missing a cool trip to DC! I really hope we are loaded the year after next cause Florida will be sweeeet! Lammy, Blood, Toews and Hexey will be seniors and Knight, MacWilliam, Gleason, Cinchy, Rowney and Kristo(??) will be Juniors (Gregoire will be histo). Add all of them to some good incoming talent and we should all start planning some volunteer work for disney tickets now!
  14. If you still have your tickets call me 719-200-5392 (Mike) I'll be in town tomorrow.
  15. Here is a different angle to consider Maybe, what needs to happen now is that the NCAA needs to man-up and come forward and REEVALUATE the situation with The Sioux name. The "settlement" only needs to be adhered to if no "other" mutually agreeable resolution is achieved. ie, the settlement can be dismissed if the NCAA would see fit to allow the name based on the status quo(see below). The reason is quite clear: STATUS QUO cositderation one One tribe approves by landslide vote + Other tribe has no interest in matter to take it to a vote (ie obstain) = NO rational reason to change the name. or STATUS QUO cositderation two One tribe approves by landslide vote + Other tribe is on the record as giving a traditional blessing to the name which, according to tribal culture, cannot be undone (hey NCAA, please respect other cultures and diversity)= NO rational reason to change the name. Note: the above equation does not include in it how stongly the supporters of the schools teams fell about the name but this should be considered as well. STATUS QUO cositderation Three Nelsen Mandela (see Invictus) understood the detrminent in forcing a name change of a team with passionate fans with a tradition and history and excellence. He new that hate was the true motivation for such action and to act out of hate only seeks to breed more hate. NCAA thinks about this and realizes that they have something to learn from a great leader and conclude that it is not a good idea to change the name If Mandela understood this why can't the NCAA? Maybe they are racists and don't value the views of an man of color? I don't know because I NEVER hear them speak?? What does the NCAA think of all of this that has been transpiring?? Who are THEY anyway? What are their names?? Why doesn't someone from the Herald interview them?? I want to know how they feel about what is happening here? Such things that effect me and you so much.

    Who Dat

Maybe we should all chip in and rent a billboard sign in Mississippi from SiouxSports fans incouraging Brett to come back.
  17. OR pass the puck across the net (not to fast!) to the open man and have him not miss the net.. OR post up a forward behind the open net side corner to be in position to gobble up a rebound or feed-like in the old days-instead of skating around the net like an A.D.D. kid who forgot to take his meds..--> a little harsh but true..
  18. What problems are these that are self inflicted??
  19. What was the deal with this? I had never heard of this?
  20. Does direct TV have the Big 10, or will it be on an alternate channel on direct TV or am I out of luck??
  21. That is exactly what I was thinking, I was just a little leary of including that particluar line switch in with my post because it might have been to much controversy for one post ya know the idea of putting one of our best forwards on the third line right after he comes back from a world championship performance on the first line none the less. But I think it would be a great move, we know from history that the Trupp & Malone line works works well with Toews. And further, If Kristo was with Zajac one could argue that that would become our second line, heck why not our first- It has been my opinion that Zajac's play this year is arguably the highest rated on the team and it sounds like Hakstol sees some of that as well. You put Zajac with Kristo and it is an agressive, driving, puck possesion line with scoring prawless (Zajac has been showing some really high end shot taking skill the last month or so).
  22. I'm not sure we should suggest that Malone models his game after Hextall to reduce uneccesary penalties. I think Hextall might need to work on that a little more himself. I think a bit ago he was leading the WCHA in penalty minutes wasn't he? I was at that sat night game in denver and I think he might have been the straw that cause the refs to go T.U. and basically go psycho on our team with the wistle. anyway, I think Blood is our best all around defensemen. As far as malone goes, I would like to offer an opinion about having Kristo on his line with Trupp. First I will say that other that the Kristo slot, I like all of our forward lines that we played last weekend. Very solid. The thing with Kristo on that line is that it takes the puck away from Trupp who is by far our most dynamic offensive play maker. I think everyone agrees that Kristo is a talent at driving the puck (much like Genoway) and he also puts very good moves on his defender in their zone on the drive to the net and he finds a way to get a quality shot off. That is all good but what it does for trupp is religate him to a rebound forward and that is not his gig. He needs to have the puck fed to him in the space that he creates. I think the one weakness in Kristo's game is his vision outside of his space, I don't think his focus is on how his linemates are moving, it is more on how he can create his own space to get a shot. There is nothing really wrong with that. It is just where his skill is and is not and I don't think you want him with Trupp. Anyone agree?
