  1. a shootout is the perfect activity to personify our weaknesses as team. 1. shot making/finishing skill. 2. goal tending.
  2. our biggest hole is at goal. The best I have ever seen from Eids is a respectable showing. He has not ever come close to WINNING us a game. How often has he made the type of big time save that a really good goalie will do one or more times in a game?
  3. Our PASSING has been as good as any team I have seen this year on the college level, EXCEPT FOR OUR SET UP FEEDS, They are very poor- to fast, off line, wrong timing. This is not anything new, the Sioux has sucked in this area for two years. If you look at this years games, in general we are tape-to-tape all over the ice but when we get to that set up centering pass it is usually pretty poor quality. I think Hak should put some coaching focus in that area and see what it produces as far as results. Other than that (and a lillte question at goalie) I think our team is second to none.
  4. Does anyone remember when the NCAA adopted the "get rid if the Native American nickname thing"? and does anyone remember when Ralph sent the letter to the SBofE?
  5. sugars does. i took it for the st cloud series and in years past.
  6. yes AND the reality behind this trend is a philosophy. And I don't want to be totally negative on this philosophy because it cleary has many merits, BUT risk analysis says that you need to stay agressive when the probabitity of good outcomes is greater than the probability of good outcomes when you work the "philosophy" So here is some risk analysis the way I add it up: 1. Two of your best players (Vandy and Genoway) when it comes to working the "philosophy" are out but you still have all of your dynamic guys in the line-up. There is an empty net and you have a one goal lead and there is 2 min left in the game. There will be a 6-4 in a minute and a half untiol EofR. The best bet is to SCORE! Not prevent!! 2. On 2-1 rushes the Sioux are scoring at about 10% when the puck carrier into the zone shoots and when they lateral pass they are about 20% and when they do a drop back they are at about 70%. 3. and of course as FS forlife points out, the part of the philosophy that induces the mentality shift when there is a lead needs to go. and that ties into the first two points, especially number two, I see the Sioux make nifty passes in the offensive Zone WAY more before they get their lead. Bottom line is we do not take enough calculated offensive risks, except when we are behind and the clock is winding down. Other than that our team is very very good.
  7. Not sure either, but I know what is way way way way worse than either of them; Watching the Sioux play a simply pathetic style of hockey when they have a LEAD, thereby letting a significantly inferior team beat them after having significantly outplaying the team prior to aquiring said lead. oh and watching this over and over again.
  8. When you have a one goal lead and your looking at an empty net KNOWING that you will have to endure a 6 on 4 for 30 seconds, you get offensive@!!!!!!!!!!!@! Lapoint locks up the puck behind our goal when he should have moved it. The Sioux would be the best team in the country if they consistantly took more offensive risks. Hak is the best there is at coaching a puck control definsive game but the man just does not understand risk analysis and how to take appropriate chances when the situation calls for it. The empty net goal for the Sioux last night was a unusual for the Sioux. I would be willing to bet that in the last 5 years the Sioux have the least empty net goals in the country. We play STUPID hockey with a lead. We change into a bad hockey team with a lead. Like I said we should have been all offense when they pulled their goalie knowing that in a minute they were going to be getting a 6 on 4 to the horn! Risk analysis! Maybe Hak should read some Gambling books?

  10. I think that is like Hextalls 4th or 5th wide open goal miss.
  11. Does anyone know if the Satellite uplink is accessible on the Ku band??
  12. Sat night game at DU 11/21 If anyone has extras I'm looking for tickets. Call me or Im me 720-987-8203
  13. yes we need more lateral movement inside the circles. Enough with the fire the shot and look for the rebound. Good goalies don't give up rebounds.
  14. If my memory serves me, Genoway is a transition to defense as well?
  15. I remember him fumbling the puck a lot, not holding the zone and letting the puck get by him, and not doing well under pressure when he had the puck on the power play. I would say I was vexed with his play between seven and ten times between the games and I am not a particularily negative fan.. But I expect him to do well next time he has all of the skill and experience. On another note I should be positive and mention two players that really stood out to me last weekend. Malone and Lammy- Malone had a few shifts where he totally dominated play (second and third period Sat) and was very solid all weekend. He has started to show a good little bit-o-craft in his skating and offensive playmaking to go along with his physical side. Lammy kept doing more than I expected. . He always goes above and beyond and makes that one extra play to finish a play. His skating has been very impressive too. oh and how bout his line last Friday with Zajac and Hextall? They were pretty effective at maintaning the puck when the other three lines weren't. I wonder how one of these two would do on the point on the power play in liou of Kristo. Especially Lamoureux, I swear I never see him do the wrong thing and he continues to impress so heck give him that test and see if he continues to shine in a new role?
  16. I too liked the way Fienhage played last weekend. In fact, I was more critical of Marto's play over the series. I am usually pretty excited about Marto's game, especially what he brings to the table offensively. But recently he has not had an offensive impact and he by FAR made the most defensive blunders last weekend. Did anyone else notice this? I should repeat that I usually like his game. I just think this last weekend was what it was..
  17. I just went to my first Sioux games in three years. I was interested to see if the fans had somehow "gone wild" given the things I have been reading and hearing about recently. I did not find that to be the case. In fact I saw a pretty controlled environment from my point of view. The one thing I saw that really got under my skin was that the Ralph does NOT show replays of controversial plays on the video soreboard. ie the goal reviews. I noticed this at the metrodome as well. I find it sick that people accept this. You all realize the message that teaches all of us; Information is ok to withold if it is in your best interest, for the 'greater' good. ie it just isn't a good idea to disclose truth to people. Instead we will keep them in the dark and control things ourselves FOR them. That is step one in a "police state" and should be discouraged. YES this is just a game, but we are creatures of habit and we should NEVER get used to or be ok with that type of 'deprivation of information for the greater good' crap. There is nothing good about it.
  18. I totally agree with your take on Malone. I was trying to say what you did. The one thing I notice about Malone is that he makes nifty passes from time to time- behind the net and from the circle areas he can throw a slick feed to a line-mate. Vandy is more of a shoulder the defender off the puck and drive it to the net. Maybe you could say Vandy is more Michael Jordan and Malone is a little more Magic Johnson when it comes to driving to the net. That's giving them some props huh? At this point I agree but let's see how they develop further..
  19. I have been meaning to create a thread about Trupp since last summer but I haven't had the time until now. See I turned off my cable last summer because I pretty much can't stand TV (except for hockey and Football). So for a pass-time at night I watched last year
  20. I have my plane ticket. I have my car rental. I have a hotel. I just need tickets!!
  21. Question for any of you all that frequent the Raph for games, I live in Denver and am thinking about heading out for the St Cloud series this weekend but I have no tickets yet. I need three tickets and have been searching for them here and on craigs list. So far I haven't found anything good. So here is my question: Does anyone know if there is usually much activity outside the arena before the game as far as ticket selling? IE what do you think the chances are to find tickets before game time outside??
  22. Any one looked into if there is going to be a web cast of this weekends games from the MT web site?
