  1. Well let's get the particulars. Someone start a new topic and lets get the SiouxCIA on this... Just like how Trupp was getting pounded on when he was on his back I'm confident this will be another clear case of defense. Ya know in Texas if someone is trespassing you can shoot them.. I would say in hockey if someone cheap shots you- and that can be verbal- you should be able to smack them, especially if they do it under the vail of a hand shake where they are using the nature of the event to preclude retaliation. Kinda like how your fine doubles in a construction zone. You get twice the reaction when you violate the sactity of the hand shake. My mommy used to call it natural consequences.
  2. what town do you live in?
  3. I re-watched the game and at the end I heard Hak say, "he speared Finley". If this is the case, Wheeler poked Finley with hiss stick butt, well then I have no problem with what Finley did. How could one say that it is ok to just take getting assaulted when you are shaking hands? I found it weird that no camera got the footage before Finley grabs him.
  4. Did anyone notice that Woog was either drunk or experiencing some sort of neurological episode during the game? About 75% of what he said was incoherent??
  5. I think Marto overall has shown more than Lapoint. Lapoint doesn't seem solid on the defensive side yet and Marto looks impressive to me in that regard. Also, look at the games where Marto has been in vs LaPoint, I think we have had most of our really impressive defensive games of late with the Jones- Marto combo. And while I mention Jones, Think about the times were he has been really noticable and making plays. Wasn't that the weekends he was with Marto?
  6. It's exciting to see everyone is into the FTA gift idea. Bob thanks for volunteering to take this. Sorry I threw it out there and didn't follow up with a response until now. Had to go out of town. I will help anyway you wan't . I live in Denver but coincidentally I arived in Osseo tonight and will be here until Sunday morning visiting family. Don't know if there is anything I can do to help in this short of timeframe but am willing. I could check out the FTA fella here. I actually spoke to him a while back about FTA stuff. He is Scottish fella from Glascow-nice guy. We should start a list of all who are in on donating for this. Maybe they could email you or something so you have their email addresses for follow up. Just a thought anyway.. let us know.
  7. Maybe we should see if we can get a bounch of people to pitch in and set him up with a FTA satellite system so he can watch the Sioux play while he recovers. We could talk to the fella that does the Sioux systems in MSP that posts here all the time. I'd chip in??
  8. my B2 broadcast picture keeps freezing.. is it on my end or is anyone else having signal issues?
  9. This game should be counted the same way UND vs BC was counted- a tie with a note saying it was no able to be completed. Instead of saying "unable to complete due to poor ice conditions" it should state, "unable to complete due to poor officiating". The goal was counted and regulation time had expired. The game was tied at that point and it was not completed, that is the fact and the why is only fodder for blogs and papers to wax.
  10. Is David Carle related to Matt Carle? If so we should get him! Since his brother stole number 8 from us we should get his bro to get number 8!
  11. I have had the feeling all year that Hak has been planning to go to Trupp in the end on that line and that he just wanted Trupp, being a freshmen, to develope some level of comfort and success. I think he has. I agree with you, i would argue that the last two weekends he had been the most consistent offensive threat on the team as far as making plays and taking shots. Just like everyone else except Duncan he needs to FINISH a litlle better.
  12. The third player on the Dunc/Oshie line is definately a tough one. I'm not sure about Miller. He has shown some strong moves but he has also been a little weak. In the end it's about chemistry and maybe they will have it. I don't think VV did it with Oshie/Dunk (ODUNK). He seems to like to go to the net with it on his own and he shoots and plays the rebound game. That is not what ODUNK need, they need a line mate that anticipates their motion and does things like the drop back and give back stuff and TIC-TAC-TOE style plays. Maybe Miller will work that well with them. I also keep wondering if Trupp would do well with them if he continues to get more comfortable?
  13. i have a few extra direct TV dishes with LMBs. Could I use those and just get the traxis reciever? Also, how hard is it to tune to FSSN feed once I get it set up/ Can I get the signal in the sky around Denver?
  14. I'm not wrong. Watch this weekends games and tell me, if Hak keeps them together, if Bina doesn't take some nice HQ shots from the top of the Circle. I got five bucks Bina gets a point if not more this weekend off his shot. Since they have been together they have not had any issues and have moved the punk at a very high level. I mean no one on our team is close to them in how they move the puck in the zone. Just watch them this weekend and you will see the light. Bina has not had a problem getting beat off the pinch that I have seen, I'll watch some old games and see again. And getting beat is to some degree part and parcell with pinching, doesnt mean you don't do it. My point was that Chorney was pinching at the wrong times and out of place to hold the puck in on the boards. Bina pinches when he has the puck or is going to get it. Chorney was pinching while the puck was with players engaging in scrums on the boards behind and next to the net. Out comes the puck and there is no D at the line to keep it in. I know I saw this several times earlier in the year. In any case they are preforming very very well together. They are making the opposition look silly the way they move them around, hear me now and see it later. Again, they have only been paired for the last two weekends.
  15. Like a pointed out earlier, Chorney was pinching in and trying to get involved in the middle earlier this season, he missed the out pass around the boards and lost the zone about 10 times that I saw- So this cost us big and I was getting very p*ssed about it as a fan. But he has completely stopped doing this the last four games... Also, although your math in not incorrect, consider a coulple of things: 1. Our WCHA schedule has included all the top teams and very little gravy- ie alaska, mankato. 2. Chorney is an offensive defensemen and on the ice with the oshie/dunk line alot. teams have been putting there top line against ours since the gophers did it in the final five last year because the line can struggle to play defense in our own zone. So I would argue that our top line has struggled earlier this year and given up pts and not aquired their own. I'm not going to look it up but I would guess you could get the same mathmatic results from oshie's WCHA numbers also. In either case I agree Chorney struggled earlier but now he is playing a spot and a style that suites his strenghts and minimizes his weeknesses. Her me now and believe me later he will dominate. And I agree about Finley i also agree that Jones is starting to play solid and making his presence know on the ice.
  16. Chorney has been with Bina on the power play for about four or five games. Hak put them together on regular shifts starting with the new hamp. series. and I think this team, even though they have had some lingering issues (second half of third Sat against new hamp. and most of third Friday against st.cloud), has turned a corner partly because of Chorney/Bina. They hold the zone, they both find passing lanes to the forwards so well, and Bina takes nice shots after Chorney works him open. two other big reasons this team is taking a good turn. the Canadian line and Duncan is moving around making plays as he enters the zone ahh heck i cant forget to mention Finley becoming a tougher smarter D man
  17. Let me add a perspective: Chorney struggled at the biggining of this season, no doubt. There were two reasons I saw for this. First, Until the last few games he was pinching in the zone to much. He lost the zone several times as he was out of position to get the board pass. Looks like he has stopped doing this. Bina is a good pincher Chorney is not. "know your role" is what the hack says second, he was not paired with Bina. In case no one has noticed the Chorney-Bina combo is big time. Earlier this year I watched the TVOed Minnesota series and St. Cloud Final five game from last year(remember), and I have to say that Chorney-Bina was a big reason for the excellent passing plays we all saw then. I was hoping Hak would put them back together and he did. 5 on five that is.. I will go out on a limb and say that the Chorney-Bina combo will be a big factor in the Sioux becoming dominant in the near future. They move the puck around amazingly well in the zone. They work great together creating lanes to the forwards and feeding them. We all know how much of an appetite Duncan and Oshie have. Chorney also has such a good talent for moving the puck through the neutral zone. Bina has a high end wrister. Top five on team in MHO. Speaking of telegraphed passes- Oshie is the worst at this one. Sorry Oshie because you are awesome at about everything else. Well maybe work a little at finishing your shot. Most improved: Martins- fast and pushing the puck well. Finley- finally getting more physical without the penalties. Duncan-He has started to add another demension to his game- he is creating plays in motion on the outside. He is going to be spectacular at the end of the year. "Trupp"- Should he be on the DOT line??
  18. This series reminds me of last years series in the Springs. Sioux out played CC both nights and got the win Sat night in a game the ended up being an excersise in domination. The Sioux made it clear that they were on a different level. I feel pretty much the same way about this series. Ya St Cloud can score based on thier top scores they look top of the line, buuuut look who they have played and notice the pts they aquired in those contests vs the games they played against ranked teams. Hak has some good data to finalize line combos going into a stretch where we should start to jell offensively! It is not just wishfull thinking that suggest we go into second half just as we did the last two-HOT!!!
  19. The Sioux would have 8 goals by now if the refs would call just one of the penalties, St Cloud is mugging them.
  20. Huskies are a bunch of punks. If i had a buck for every time they toe drag tripped our players I could buy a plane ticket to St. Cloud to tell the refs how bad they suck. and how many dives is that this weekend by the stoners from st. cloud? This has been a typical one sided ref show against the Sioux. Its fun watching us win despite the zebras!
  21. Only if what happened fit in the egenda of the media, and the media has no interest in making people who protest said "racism" look bad even though in many cases the people protesting racism are objectively and rationally the racists themselves. Anyone who thinks the media is objective is ignorant. Thing is most people are ignorant.
  22. The team has improved much recently, unfortunatly they have not gotten the wins they probably should have the last two games. There are two areas of concern though. First, like a preivious poster stated, Lammy has looked a little soft in the third the last two games and letting that rap around in after we had secured a two goal lead in the third was a big screw-up. Maybe he should take a night off, stir things up a little. Second, the Sioux seem to be missing on alot of choice opportunities. Goalie out of position, wide open nets, open shots... I don't know what the deal is with this but it has been going on for two years in the first half of each season at least. They need to maybe relax a little, maybe they are two jacked up, i dono. Maybe we just don't have any pure goal scores (with exeption to Duncan and heck i throw in Bina cause he is good with his shot).
  23. Thanks for the novel about how this fight is going to turn the season around. BTW, Oshie wasn't in a fight.
  24. TJ Oshie getting into a fight with an opposing player in an elevator is about the best thing that has happened for our team since winning the regional championship game last year. For those of you astute enough to realize it, our season last year was salvaged by a Kiap fight against UAA that saved our honor at the Ralph from utter embarrassment (no thanks to lame home crowds not helping matters). Fighting is part of hockey (despite the NCAA meddling in the character of the sport) and this fight will go down in the annals of College hockey lore- something fans in grand forks seem to have forgotten about in recent years. Ya it wasn't on the ice but I'll put my money on the, it will be a classic. For those of you wanting to write this as a character assassination on Oshie, you're all lame limp politically correct droids. You have no touch with reality. Go clean your garage you probably missed a spot. You deserve the wash of the media spew you think is news. You worry about your kids being disappointed by Oshie's fistfight, you are disappointed in his letdown as a role model. Go buy your kids X-men or Fantastic Four. Maybe go with Rambo or turn on some classic Clint fightwood movie. Maybe some Chuck Norris? Heck you live in Grand Forks go send em to the military, Maybe the national guard, where they can learn to defend North Dakota in IRAQ or Afghanistan with an M-16. Kill'n people always makes thing so much better you know. Just anything to get them to stop looking up to the kid who turned down a million dollars to kick some opposing players *ss in an elevator. That could destroy his sensitivities for life. Hey maybe Oshie could go to New England and play for Belichick! Oh by the way try making some noise at a homegame, I know it's winter time in North Dakota but they have medication for that now.. Wake up and get some passion for a team your lucky to have. Losers!
