  1. While some people may disagree with the thread starter's motives, it's not a big secret that there are personality issues amongst this team and coaching staff. Winning helps keep a lot of that under wraps, but what happens if we don't win all those home games this year? What happens if the team doesn't get a big or two and gets dominated in the Big Sky? This will become much bigger news than it already is and unfortunately, it's almost an asterisk next to the team when talking about them.
  2. FOX does have broadcasts of Big12 and Pac12 basketball and football, so it would give them the opportunity to spread out the number of games they show in those two sports for at minimum those two conferences. I was amazed this year that on MOST friday nights, I could watch any of 5 college hockey games at one time from across the country. A few years ago, that was something we could only dream about. Any additional sports network is great for college hockey, because it's just another outlet that will provide more exposure to both the casual fan and the die-hard who wants to see his/her favorite team more often.
  3. Proven wrong about what? That it will affect UND athletics? It already has in scheduling, recruiting and the cost of purchasing new uniforms for teams.
  4. Let's be the Apaches and have Boeing provide us with a helicopter with UND all over it.
  5. Brekke with 11 boards and 15 points, for his 5th double double of the season
  6. I really wish the UND iPhone app would play in the background. I hate that I can't text or check my email without the audio feed stopping.
  7. Another great chance to watch UND sports online/on TV. I love how many Fighting Sioux games are available to me in Colorado. Compared to other schools in the upper-midwest, it's pretty overwhelming how many times I get to watch UND.
  8. Probably the same thing that Iowa is waiting for as it pertains to the soccer game. They want to see if UND still has the Fighting Sioux nickname. Just like Iowa, the Big Sky agreed to let UND in when it seemed the nickname issue was being resolved. Now that there are setbacks, Iowa has pulled that acceptance, but is waiting before they pull the soccer agreement. According to the Big Sky Commissioner, it won't be very difficult to pull the acceptance of UND.
  9. At what point do you start giving into demands when that petty fool has already killed some of the people? Just keep holding out in hopes they decide to change their mind before more people or schools are dead? You can talk all day about how the NCAA is wrong in this. Most people here agree. But that doesn't make them and their sanctions against UND any less real or undoubtedly damaging to UND athletics programs.
  10. Anybody planning on going to this? I film the games for the AFA Sports Department and was hoping to see a lot of Sioux fans. We had a decent crowd at the men's CIT game at the Academy last year. Any ideas on a pre-game meeting place? I suggest Champps Sports and can easily get a room reserved if there will be some people coming to town.
  11. My friend and I will be there from Colorado Springs
  12. 1:00 mtn time
  13. Free webcast is up on fightingsioux.com
  14. Wrong. It's a million times harder for a school like NDSU to land a hockey prospect than a pro basketball or football prospect. You kinda have to have hockey to land those prospects. The thread title is about UND being the total attendance leader for all schools that play FCS football. There is nothing misleading about it at all. Nobody is claiming UND football is a leader in attendance. Nobody is claiming UND basketball is a leader. Of course, UND isn't at the top of those lists. However, this is about ALL sports. You'd think it wouldn't be very difficult to figure that out, but apparently not.
  15. UND will get a return trip from Air Force some time next year.
  16. Could that have been used by the women's hockey team? Or are they exempt because women's hockey is only sponsored by d1?

I see it similar to freshman at UND in hockey. It's going to take them more than a couple weeks of practice to get used to the speed of the game. We're also an injury away from him playing significant downs. Perhaps coach sees he has potential to be used as a surprise option in game 2 and didn't want to show his hand right away. There are plenty of reasons to take a redshirt off, and there are plenty of reasons to not play said freshman. We don't know them, but I'm going to guess coach does.
  18. I doubt you'll get a very good indication of how the Air Force team really is during the tournament. They play a completely different style when they're matching up against WCHA teams than when they play AHA games. You'll see them skate fast and finish a lot of checks during the tournament. They'll be very similar to most WCHA teams. However, over the past two years, they tend to not finish checks or cycle during league games. It's just the different styles of the leagues. They can stay with WCHA teams for a tournament, but over a season I wouldn't be surprised to see them in 10th or so in the WCHA. They should be a good team this year, however very young.
  19. Congrats on "dealing" with the media. Also, thank you for explaining the ND Century Code to every member of the media. Oh wait... you didn't. However, you just lumped every journalist in North Dakota into one giant group by calling them "the media." Of course, there are idiot journalists... but there are idiots in every profession. I truly hope you don't judge every reporter the way your post indicates. I'm sure lots of people would like that in-depth news story more than 10 feel-good stories. However, the two are nowhere close to the amount of time it takes to put together. Just for TV's sake, because that's where I have my experience, one of the feature stories will take about an hour to shoot, write and edit one version. 2 reporters could do those 10 feature stories in one day, no problem. And most do. To do a properly researched in-depth story takes WAY more than two reporters working a 10 hour day. Most in-depth stories (look for them, because they are there. They may just not be the topic you want covered) take a reporter a solid week of working on a story to put together. One reporter, doing one story for an entire week isn't going to help the station stay in business. They may get a couple hours here and there to work on the story, but still have all of the daily stories they must do. That means it's going to take 2-3 weeks to put together a more in-depth story. Often times, a reporter will want to do an investigative piece, however a journalist relies on other people for information. Journalists need sources and not all sources are willing to talk. Especially, on very touchy subjects. Those sources that are willing to talk may have an agenda, they may be too busy for an interview for a few days, or may not want to answer specific questions. All of those things are out of the journalists hands. If someone doesn't want to answer a question, they don't have to. Does that mean the journalist didn't ask the question? No, but of course that's what everyone assumes. A lot of things have to fall in to place for a well-done in-depth story to make it to the air or newspaper. Just because national publications and broadcasts can do it, doesn't mean local reporters can. They most often don't have the skill and more importantly, they don't have the resources.
  20. That's crap. Most of today's reporters aren't given the time to work on a story that involves "digging." Stations and newspapers are so understaffed that reporters and photographers work their asses off just to get enough for one day's show or newspaper. They are so swamped with daily work that they don't have time for the in-depth stories. It's not just asking a tough question or two like many of you seem to think. There are tons of legal ramifications for publishing or airing a story that some may see as questionable. In addition, while the reporter may ask the tough questions, there is nothing that says the interviewee has to answer those questions.
  21. There's still 22 minutes before the 1st game and it looks like the picks are locked and I can't enter mine.
  22. That is because the logos for the main scoreboard and the side board have to have the same logo. Air Force chose the ND logo because there are too many colors in the Indian head logo for it to look sharp. The ND also looked better with the AF for Air Force.
  23. Anyway I can buy a UND Cycling team jersey? I'm in the market for one, but I haven't seen any available online and I like the design of the jersey.
  24. I usually go to a bar called Hondos when the sioux are on TV. They get all of the regional networks, so I watched the Gopher series there and the Denver series this weekend. It's a decent sports bar with good drink specials, located off Centennial Drive just north of Garden of the Gods road.
