  1. shh... quit trying to steal ndsu's time in the spotlight.
  2. depends on what type of crowd you're looking for, but i found that going downtown was generally fun. it's got a grand forks atmosphere there, in which you can walk from bar to bar pretty easily. lots of different options for drinking. i know they have a couple restaurants (bww and i think applebees) right next to a couple bars. edit: the perkins on the highway into town is open all night long. they have great food at 2am.
  3. the judge, lawrence jahnke, is a UND graduate. he was appointed by gov. george sinner (democrat)... so i don't know how much you want to read into that. a quote from jahnke: hopefully, the ncaa comes in thinking they're the best thing since holy cross.
  4. i think there's a bit of a difference between the two situations. fans at a game between ndsu and the gophers chanting "sioux suck," compared to fans at a sports bar cheering against the bison. at least ndsu was involved in the game for someone to cheer against, UND wasn't there... so i don't know why ndsu fans would even mention UND. it's probably the same for the uni game. ndsu fans were cheering against UND, which is understandable. but there were no anti ndsu chants at the uni/UND game.
  5. i have no problem with umn being #3. they lost to the obvious number 1 team in the nation. they beat the teams they were supposed to beat. other teams near them lost games that they possibly should have won. it's early, things will change. if you care enough about the poll to post, then you obviously care that the gophers are ranked #3. i think that's about where they should be, based on other teams performances.
  6. i think the major reason he's gotten so much playing time is because of injuries. i wouldn't be surprised if they sent him back down. when he is a restricted free agent, malkin is the same year, so that could cause some financial problems. in a week, i'd doubt you will see staal playing as many minutes as he did, because a majority of pitt's players will be back from injury. if you're playing for this year, keep him on the team. if you're running the team as a business, send him back down.
  7. parise took a stick to the face tonight. he lost at least one tooth, looked like a couple others got chipped, but he was out there the next shift.
  8. he didnt say his antics were ok... he said at least prpich would back it up. taffe just ran after he did something. a lot more respect for someone who will hack a guy and then take a beating, compared to someone who hacks a guy and then turtles or runs and hides.
  9. we really need to start up that ndsu/UND rivalry thing again. i've never had a problem with a bison fan, they're all so nice.
  10. i personally loved this part:
  11. NO! don't even post hypotheticals, you are just wearing green colored glasses and you should know that because ndsu didn't get in, UND will never get in. you just make yourself look even more dumb when you suggest that UND has some benefits. listen to ndsu fans, they know whats up. obviously great joe chapman's knowledge has funneled down through his underlings to all ndsu fans.
  12. i was planning on going there last night. got delayed and didn't get there til 7:15. the place was packed. standing room only. i suggest everyone get there at least half an hour early... even 6:00 wouldn't be a bad idea just so you have a good seat. (i ended up going to tgifridays which wasn't quite as packed. but it still took half an hour to get a table in the bar).
  13. fixed your post
  14. i remember those days and if i recall correctly, fargo was just an outhouse with a bar. grand forks was a booming city.
  15. saw this on espn.com Top 10 Hockey Hot Spots in North America UND/The Ralph makes an appearance, with the following write-up:
  16. wow, tj didn't score on that? i wouldn't be surprised if they cut him after this game... just not doing good enough.
  17. right now it's just a police report. i havent' followed it closely enough to know if charges have been filed against the owner, but up until they are filed and he is found guilty, no one can be held accountable. to the eyes of the ncaa the police report says "we, the police think this is what happened, it is now up to the prosecutors to find out if there is enough proof to try and convict the owner and possibly the hockey players, and then it is up to the judge or possibly a jury to determine if the owner and or hockey players are actually guilty." a police report doesn't mean guilty... it just means arrested. the ncaa can't enfore a violation occured when the court hasn't proved a violation occured.

    Reed Manke

heard from very reliable source he will be starting on saturday.
  19. i'll be in suite #219, seat #4, 5, or 6. friday only.
  20. Actually, the one and only reason UNC is in the Big Sky is because they are located in Colorado. As far as FSSN is concerned, I don't see it as a help or hinderance in getting into a conference. How many people can first find the channel they are on, and secondly how many people actually tune into a sport on that network that is sponsored by the Big Sky? The only sport people actually tune in to is hockey. Perhaps if you can work out a deal to get FSSN in every household in Minneapolis, it actually may carry some weight to a conference.
  21. they don't really enforce the 20 foot thing, especially during the winter.
  22. don't know if this has been posted.. but John Lee (brian's) younger brother will go to denver. john is a senior who is playing for waterloo right now. wonder if the sioux pursued him at all... always love to have the brother combinations.
  23. wow, that shot was incredible by duncan. he's got shot a great wrist shot.
  24. fabian with a goal.... that move by toews was incredible, had he scored it would have been one of the best of the year. 1-0 sioux!!!
