DOT? Sorry to burst your bubble, but Oshie and Toews have departed UND for the pros. Duncan is still here though.
-
It appears that Lynn knows next to nothing about other things as well.

The latest brackets from USCHO: Bridgeport looks to be the easiest bracket...I think DU could easily advance out of there (especially with Bozak back). I'm not really a fan of the UND bracket. I like that they are in Minneapolis, but a rematch against a tough Princeton team, and then a potential showdown against UMD or UM.

Good to read that they are still evaluating Evan as a possible game time decision. While he may not play against CC, that bodes well for him playing against UW or our first round opponent.

SIOUX Recruits - 2008-09 Updates, Monitoring Their Junior League Play

Earlier this season I would have said that I expect him back for his SR season, but with how he has elevated his play during our recent run, I could also see him departing after this year. -
Thanks for the latest PWR blog post, Jim! Always informative...

What was said? (sorry, I'm at work and can't listen to the link) Thanks! -
Nice! It's still probably a long shot that we see him on the ice this weekend, but that's good news for possibly against UW or WCHA 1st round...
-
I agree with all of this. Miller is much more noticeable on the ice now that he has time to play with the puck. He had his moments as a forward, but his transition to D has really given him the space for him to showcase more of his skill. I think that Hakstol will keep him back on the blueline for the rest of the season. There's no reason to move him back up at this point...
-
The Sioux aren't getting much help from other teams... Just gotta keep winning then.
-
I think Stalock will get 1st team WCHA goalie over Eidsness.
-
Agreed. Although Eidsness will be up there, I think Wiercioch will take it. Eidsness will definitely be the goalie on the all-rookie team though.

This is how I remember it as well. I don't recall him being ripped on at all (aside from some people calling him a bust), but most posters realized that he was injured for a good portion of the time that he was here, which is a good reason why he didn't take the ice that much. With how he has played this year in the USHL, it seems that he is fully recovered, which is great. Hopefully he comes back next year and does well. -
That is hilarious!

According to Hakstol talking with TH, both Toews and Trupp are questionable for this weekend against CC. They said that Trupp was being evaluated again today. I'm sure we'll find out more on Wednesday, but I can't honestly see Trupp playing this weekend. Hopefully Toews is ready to go!

I hope the speculation about Forney coming back to UND next year is true. He is really having a good USHL year... -
I don't see that happening. In order for us to play the Gophers in the 1st round, we would have to finish 3rd and they would have to finish 8th. Or we would have to finish 4th in the league...I also don't think that UW/DU/CC will all pass us in the last 2 weekends. I don't see Mankato passing them for 7th either...4 points less in the same # games played.

30lbs of muscle built up in one summer? That is insane. -
I, for one, am not counting the Gophers out of the F5 (or their regional) quite yet. Last year they finished in 7th and still made it to the F5 (and made the NCAA's). Still time left this season for them to right the ship and make it to both. And then all it takes is for them to win two games on home ice... It's looking more and more like the Sioux will get either UAA or MTU for the 1st round. While those two teams are in 9th/10th place for a reason, they both have beaten the Sioux this year and play a style that tends to frustrate the Sioux offensively. I wouldn't be surprised if either of those opponents pushed the Sioux to three games...

I'm much more impressed with Mattson's 71 pts than I am with Hanowski and Benik's (both SCSU recruits) point totals. Little Falls and St Francis don't play near the competition that Holy Angels does. I think the Sioux got the best recruit out of those three... -
Huge series! We need at least 2 points, hopefully more. Plus a SCSU win or two would be nice. I wasn't that impressed with CC against UMN, despite them sweeping. It honestly doesn't take much to sweep the Gophers this season. The Sioux need to come out hard like they did against DU and UMN.
-
Exactly. Chris at the WCH blog said that he wouldn't get 10 goals the whole year. Haha. The year that Duncs won the Hobey he was on a very skilled line. Was he the most skilled of the three? No...the other two are now regulars in the NHL...but he was the most consistent, and that's why he deserved that award. The people that say he didn't deserve the Hobey are the people that miss all the little things that he does out there. He is without a doubt one of the most consistent, smartest hockey players ever to don a Sioux uni.

They had to travel for the 1st round last year...
-
Sweet picture. Someone needs to photoshop a Gopher jersey on that guy.

The wrong team gave the stick salute!
