Updated SSM stats after a 9-3 and 8-1 sweeping of Edge School in Calgary: 04 Taylor Chorney Defense 12 4-27-87 5'11" 180 Hastings, MN 45 4 25 29 50 08 Kyle Okposo Forward 11 4-16-88 6' 195 St. Paul, MN 44 33 29 62 50 09 Jonathan Toews Forward 12 4-29-88 6'1" 180 Winnipeg, MB 43 33 41 74 26 10 Michael Gergen Forward 12 2-17-87 5'11" 185 Hastings, MN 47 41 35 76 80 21 Charles Genoway Forward 12 12-20-86 5'9" 170 Morden, MB 44 16 27 43 34 Gergen (UMD) with a HUGE weekend, getting 8 points with 6 goals. Okposo (Minn) gets one point on the weekend. Genoway (possible UND recruit ??) gets 3 points. Toews gets 7 points on the weekend, but just one goal. He must have been pretty busy setting up Gergen, as they are on the same line! Chorney didn't play either game, not sure if he is injured or if he just had the weekend off. Gergen leads the team in points with 76, but Toews is right there with him with 74 points.

The low elevation always seems to affect their lungs... I sure hope you are right about them coming out firing on all cylinders. It would be nice to see the team that dominated CC (with more goals, of course ).

Defeating weak opponents in the conference tourney doesn't count toward a team's RPI, so there would be no affect on their PWR. From the USCHO PWR page: -
Thanks for the heads up PCM. Speedy healing to Brady from today until Thurs then, I guess. I hope he heals up so that he can play, otherwise the lines will look pretty bare without Murray, McMahon, and Kaip playing.

Another Fats Fournier?

Is anyone going to watch SSM this weekend at the Ralph for the Grand Forks Midget Tourney? According to their schedule on the SSM website, they will be playing three games total, one each day Fri-Sun. Would be nice to see Toews, Chorney, etc play before they join the collegiate ranks.

The Sioux are bringing in the current 1st, 2nd, and 10th goal scorers in the BCHL? I like it.
-
Agreed. He hit two posts this weekend, both shorthanded noless. They will start to go in for him again quickly if he keeps playing the way he has been. A post for Massen tonight too, that guy just can't seem to buy a goal this year. I was pleased with how the team played tonight. Good improvement from last night. Sucks that UND will lose McMahon for the Fri night DU game, so now I really hope that Murray can make it back by next weekend, although not probable. I was also impressed with BSU. Probably the best team that they have had in Bemidji in quite some time.

I'm torn between who to root for this weekend in the UMD/UM series. On the one hand, we don't want Duluth to catch us in the WCHA standings; but on the other hand, if UM keeps in their current slump, we could eventually catch them. I guess it doesn't matter though unless the Sioux can get some wins in their remaining WCHA schedule.

Speaking of, when are they supposed to start playing games in the Betty?

Updated SSM stats after their weekend 10-0 win over Benilde and 4-3 win over Holy Angels. SHATTUCK-ST. MARY'S BOYS PREP '04-'05 STATS # Name Position Gr. Date of Birth Ht. Wt. I agree about the distractions, but you neglected to post the BSU/UMD scoresheet from the next night: http://www.uscho.com/box/?date=20021207&vi...me=bsu&gender=m

I was at that last BSU/UND game. I remember being impressed with their goalie, Hunt. He made some excellent saves to keep BSU in it. Then there was the disallowed "Kollar-like" goal that Siembida gave up that would have tied it up in the 3rd. Bucks scored two of our goals, but Goulet scored two of theirs as well, and he is gone now too. Hunt is also gone. Their goalie's stats right now aren't too good, so hopefully we can take advantage and spring to life our offense. But I still expect at least one close game.

The Gophs are 2-4 in their last 6 games. Only two of those games were against a ranked team. Lost 4 straight at home. If they keep playing like they are now, it won't be long before UND (and alot of other teams) pass them in the PWR.
-
I liked the article. Sounds like the team is feeling better about how they are playing. Now all we need is some goals and offensive chemistry for the last part of the season. Looks like the intrasquad game played at Univ Park in the Fri snowstorm as fun.

CC 28 43 Denver 28 39 UMN 28 38 UW 28 38 UND 28 33 UMD 28 28 Mankato 28 18 AA 28 16 SCSU 28 14 MTech 28 13 IMO, the two big races are for 2nd place and for last place. I was conservative with UND, having them just split with DU and Wisco at home. Hopefully they can do better than that, which would have them move closer to the DU, UW, and UMN group. If the Sioux can somehow manage to sweep DU or Wisco, there is a chance that they could move up to 4th.

E30's are where it's at. I have a 84 323i Euro edition. The onboard computer is still in German, the gas gauge is in liters, the gas efficiency is in liters/100km. The only thing that was changed from the transport from Europe was the speedometer; which was switched to mph.

Thanks for the recap PCM! Ziggy did transfer to UMD. I am friends with his older brother. Evidently he is happy there and thinks he will be able to contribute next year.

The week off is going to be a wakeup call for UND? -
I agree, and it's too bad, because he looks like a quality player. You never know though, at least we are in the running for him.

That's good to hear that our fourth line was generating some chances at CC, now we just need some pucks put in the net.
