That list looks good to me. I'm interested to see how well Casey PZ does for Tech. He's really tearing up the BCHL this year.
-
I think he has the possibility to be top 5 in points for freshmen at the end of next year. He will be a fun one to watch.
-
That's no good. Although I would rather see him go to Cornell than to DU. I'll still hold out hope that he'll be a Sioux in the future, but that doesn't sound good.
-
Yes, I would never want the Sioux coaches to stop trying to get those Blue Chip recruits just because they will only be around for a year or two. You definitely need a mixture of both those Blue Chippahs and the lunch pail players if you want to succeed. And I think the coaches have done a very good job of doing that the last few seasons.
-
Umm, no. I could care less where these recruits are rated in the NHL CSS rankings. It's good to have some of those high drafted players (Toews, Parise, etc), but most of them only stay a year or two. These highly skilled, but not drafted players that the Sioux get that stay 4 years and really lead the team are the ones that I really like to see. The players like Panzer, Duncan, Hoogsteen, etc. It sounds like a few of the current recruits, like Trupp and Frattin, fit that mold nicely. And we still are getting a stud recruit in LaPoint as well. I think the coaches are doing a fine job in the next couple of recruiting classes...

I like this pickup as well. He sounds like a consistent goal scorer, especially for a rookie in the league. Between Bruneteau, Malone, Hextall, and Frattin, I wonder which will be here this fall. It will depend on if Toews/Oshie leave early and if we can still land Nash for the 2007 recruiting class as well.

Duncan won't win the Hobey....this year. I think he has an excellent chance as a jr/sr.
-
Who is Brian Volpei committed to again? SCSU and UW are going to need some excellent classes to make up for the loss of Goepfert and Elliott. Those 2 really steal some games for them, and now they are going to be replaced with unproven goalies (although at least Connelly has a little bit of experience). Should be interesting to see what happens with them next year.

I wonder what happened with him at SSM...?

UND should have some scholarship space available from losing Hunter Bishop earlier this season.

Chris Porter close to becoming WCHA's all-time ironman

He'll be at 168 after the SCSU series. Then with the first round WCHA playoffs, that would bring him to 170 or 171. If they make both the F5 and the NCAA tourney, he will break the record for sure. Where he might run into difficulty is if the Sioux lose the 1st round WCHA playoffs in two games and don't make the F5. That would mean that they would have to win 2 games in the NCAA tourney (assuming they make it) in order for him to break the record. -
What's with all these good forwards going to UW recently? The 3 good forwards from SSM, Turris, and now Erstad. Why any of them would want to play that style of hockey is beyond me. Skille would have double the points if he played on a team like UND, UMN, or Michigan.
-
I bet he does nothing of the sort.
-
Jeff Tellmann runs the Pepper now.
-
He would be a huge pickup for the Sioux, especially with UW getting their other 3 top scorers.
-
Two big IF's: If the Sioux sweep Denver and... The Gophers sweep the Huskies... The Sioux will be tied for 2nd place in the WCHA. Huge series for the Sioux here. I'm hoping for at least a split. But if the Sioux team that dominated UMN shows up...we could see a sweep for the boys in green. Go get 'em Sioux!!
-
Agreed. That said, I watched Notre Dame play on CSTV a few weeks back. They look to be a good team, with a good defense and strong goalie. They looked fast on the ice, but I'm not sure if that was because they were playing a weaker team (IIRC, they were playing WMU or BG), so some of that speed difference may have just been due to the competition. IMO they could be a darkhorse for making the F4, but I agree that they may find difficulty if they are faced with a WCHA or HE opponent in the earlier rounds of the NCAA. If the Sioux get placed in their region, I wouldn't complain.
-
Agreed. Same thing with Zach Parise in his soph year. He was a better player than Lessard, but the committee opted to give it to the senior who led the Dogs to the F4. Toews won't win the Hobey, but finding a better player than him this year in the NCAA would be very hard...

So you're saying that they're both beatable at home. I like it!

Hopefully the Sioux can get out of tomorrow's game without any injuries or anymore DQ's. -

Hell of an effort from Oshie there as well... -

That is probably better for the Sioux as well, since SCSU was one point (prior to tonight's game) up on CC. CC and DU are still in reach for the Sioux...let's hope that they can catch at least one of them. I'm rooting for a SCSU and MTU sweep tomorrow night.
