2025-26 University of North Dakota Hockey Season
brianvf replied to Frozen4sioux's topic in Men's Hockey
Maybe that's the spot that Sandy from UMD will fill then... So maybe looking at Homer/Hedquist/Sandy then? -
Yeah, if I were a betting man, I'd bet on a 2nd USHL season. He is still only 18yo...pretty young for a NCAA goalie. One more year of "seasoning" and he'll be ready to step in IMO.
-
That’d be a great pickup, hopefully Bryn has been in contact. Probably not many BU to UND transfers out there. But would help take a bit of the Boisvert to BU sting off.
-
We saw him do this a few times in a UND uni. Good to see him keep it rolling at the next level:
-
Yeah he's only played 6 total NCAA games in three seasons. Homer/Hedquist/Sandy Homer/Sandy/Heil Homer/Sandy/Huson One of those then I'm assuming?
-
So Sandy in, Hobie out?
-
I'm on board with this. And I bet the players would dig it too.
-
Plus I’m guessing that if it were true and word got back to Jax and Chavez, that it wouldn’t be good. I’m thinking that would void his contract, which means it would also void his buyout. Doubt he would risk $400k just to tell Boisvert and others to leave.

Dman Cleveland from CC (and UW) is heading to UMD. That surprised me until I saw that he's from Wausau, WI, which is just a few hours away from Duluth.
-
I know his son isn't a former player (although I wish he would have been), this is just a really cool moment:
-
Looks like he has decent speed and hands:
-
Their assistant coach was talking about a player that got $80-90k in NIL from a B10 school. It was on Ausmus & Schmaltz podcast. So I don't think it was Kernan they were talking about.
-
How so? Because we picked up a commit from a kid that decommitted and had several offers from NCHC and B10 schools?
-
Sounds like it, as the article mentioned that a good pile of his PP goals were one-timers from the circle.

Kernan joins the group. Great pickup. Addresses two needs...a center and can add goals. Excellent. From Kernan's coach: Forwards (11): SR - Strinden, James JR - Menghini SO - Swanson, Littler, Croal, Andrew FR - Zellers, Klee, Zakreski, Kernan Defense (7): SR - JR - Zmolek, Livanavage, Wiebe SO - Emery, Strathmann, Jubenvill FR - Laurila Goalies (3): SR - JR - Hedquist, Homer SO - FR - Huson (RS) Other current committed recruits that could come in this fall: G - Heil, D - Lindberg, F - O'Neill, Schultz, Simpson -
It appears that the moving forward part has been more difficult for some.
-
UND hockey account reposted it too. Oh man, who'd we get?
-
LSSU is hiring a GM now too, but the role for them will be similar to how Providence has their GM setup, not as an assistant coach. I like how UND did it with Bryn as an assistant so that he can actually actively recruit players while scouting them.

You and me both! Still over 5 months before next season starts, and I'm anxious to see how this roster shapes up... -
+1, agreed for sure. Vitolins and Zetterberg are intriguing. Both foreign players that UND doesn't typically get or go after (as you said), but both could potentially do well. Vitolins has experience in NCHC play...wonder how he could do when not on the worst team in the league and surrounded by better players. Zetterberg got buried on a loaded BU F group but still put up ok points as a FR.

The position was just posted on Monday and doesn't close until next Monday. -
Slim pickings here for remaining decent portal forwards/centers. Zacher is the highest goal scorer remaining. Giampa the highest point totals. Werner is intriguing but unsure with him looking for his 3rd team in 3 years. Perdion had been mentioned earlier as a player we were looking at. Lemyre just wins natty's, plan & simple. Matteo Giampa, so, Canisius, 8-22—30 Walter Zacher, so, Robert Morris, 15-9—24 Evan Werner, so, Michigan, 11-11—22 Austin Brimmer, jr, Long Island, 9-12—21 J.R. Perdion, fr, Long Island, 4-14—18 Tristan Lemyre, jr, Western Michigan, 6-8—14 Raimonds Vitolins, jr, Miami, 4-10—14 Mikey DeAngelo, fr, Michigan State, 3-6—9 Ryan Duguay, fr, Northern Michigan, 6-2—8 Alex Zetterberg, fr, Boston University, 5-3—8 Matthew Romer, so, Northern Michigan, 5-3—8

This is a humorous scouting report on recent Michigan commit Mews from the OHL. As a dman, his defensive skills appear to be his weakness.
