  1. I would love for them to join the NCHC, but I could see the WCHA happening. I could see them winning less than 5 conference games a year for the first 5 years if they joined the NCHC. They could probably win at least a few more in the WCHA.
  2. Best of luck to Troy on his dream of playing in the NHL! He gave us an amazing three years and ended it all by being a huge contributor on a national title team. He is what a UND Sioux player is all about...bled Sioux green and played like a beast every shift. We were truly lucky to have him wear the UND jersey and to watch him play for the last three seasons. He'll go down as one of my all-time favorite Sioux players. Thanks for the memories, Troy!
  3. My best guess: Seniors graduating (4 F): Cags, Cyz, Sanderson, St. Clair Early departures (3 D/1 F): Stecher, Thompson, LaDue, LJ Incoming freshman (5 F/3 D): Yon, Smith, Bowen, Hoff, Jost, Poolman, Bast, Johnson Returning Players: Forwards (10): Boeser, Gardner, Gersich, Gornall, Janatuinen, Olson, Poganski, Schmaltz, Simonson, Wilkie Defense (5): Ausmus, Chartrand, Poolman, Shaw, Wolanin Goalie (4): Anderson, Hrynkiw, Johnson, Tomek Jost - Schmaltz - Boeser Olson - Gardner - Poganski Gersich - Simonson - Hoff Janatuinen - Bowen - Wilkie Poolman - Poolman Ausmus - Wolanin Shaw - Bast Johnson Tomek Hrynkiw Extra F (3): Gornall, Smith, Yon Extra D (2): Chartrand, Johnson Extra G (1): Anderson
  4. http://www.twincities.com/2016/04/12/bob-sansevere-qa-north-dakota-hockey-forward-brock-boeser/ Haha.
  5. I heard that as well and just wondered if he meant until that point, or if it was a slip on his part because he knows LJ is leaving.
  6. Luke is clutch in the playoffs but didn't have an outstanding year stats-wise. He's a good college player, but not a great one (at this point). Another year could be great for him to develop into more of a scoring leader...but sometimes you get those surprising departures that don't make a lot of sense from a "fan" perspective. Cam leaving would surprise me too. A sophomore undrafted goalie that has played one (excellent) year of college puck. Some may wonder if his stats had more to do with the amazing d-corps in front of him. With a few of that d-corps departing, next season would be a great chance to prove those doubters wrong. We'll see.
  7. Funny story about Rube. I have a regular bicycle ride that I do every Saturday morning. Last Saturday, I wore my UND jersey (Geometric head, I was president of the UND Cycling team back in my college years )...and of course, got a lot of comments. Lot of hockey fans even down here in AZ. At one of the rest spots, an older gentleman came up to me and started talking Sioux hockey...said that he was an assistant coach with Rube somewhere out east (didn't catch the name of the school) before Rube came to UND. Then he said that he hoped we'd kick the crap out of QU. I chuckled. Small world.
  8. Except for the Money Line was already taken...and by a UND line at that. Bochenski (Bucks)/Parise/Murray was the Money Line a few years ago. Due to two reasons...one, they were money when it came to scoring goals...and two, because of Bochenski's issue of producing counterfeit $ a year or two before he arrived at UND.
  9. Weird that all the "all-HEA frozen four" comments on NCAA Hockey facebook disappeared rather quickly once the tourney started. Good to see some other NCHC teams rooting for UND as well against QU to bring the title back West. From what I saw of QU...it seems like they are a 4th place or so finisher this year in the NCHC. And Duluth might have gotten by them too. The games I watched, it seemed like the top 3 teams in the nation were all in the NCHC, but one got upset in the 1st round, as seems to happen each year. UND: Went from "probably would finish 6th in the HEA" to dominant National Champs in two short weeks.
  10. Exactly my thoughts as well.
  11. http://www.tampabay.com/sports/colleges/brock-boesers-gutsy-goal-sparks-north-dakota/2272662 Hope so, but we'll see!
  12. Definitely agreed. Stecher is a beast. If he stays, regardless of who else goes...I like our chances.
  13. This wouldn't surprise me. It also wouldn't surprise me if one or two of them stayed. And who knows, there's probably a surprise departure in there...maybe a Thompson/LJ/Pogs or something like that.
  14. Dude. UND just won the national title. Let's enjoy it for a bit.
  15. I love this team. I agree with the earlier comment...it's not going to take 16 years for the next one.
  16. It's awesome to see this thread started in jubilation rather than disappointment or anger for the first time in 16 freakin years. That was insane. So awesome!
  17. Maybe if their 1k fans can make more noise than UND's 8k?
  18. Wow, there is some horrible defending in that video.
  19. No doubt, it's been awhile for him. I thought it was coming last night on that 2 on 1 that he had, but he shot it directly into DU goalie's glove.
  20. Haha, I was literally just typing that same thing. BC loses two the day after being eliminated. The Wood departure is a little odd...he had a good freshman season, but not outstanding by any stretch. Maybe he just wasn't into college. I'm really hoping that Boeser sees the light and stays another season even if UND can bring home the title.
  21. Vesey from Harvard wins the Hobey.
  22. I'd say regardless of tomorrow night's outcome, old threads like this will either be joyously closed out or angrily rehashed.
  23. You do remember that Hakstol made it to the Championship game in his first season too, right? Should wait until after Saturday night to bring back old threads from the dead.
  24. Holy crap, we made it to the Saturday game?!?! YES! Great game from DU in the 3rd, but Schmaltz denies them.
  25. Six HEA teams enter the tourney. None survive.
