LSU/Alabama would have almost no chance against an NFL team. We're talking Miracle On Ice, one-in-a-million chance. The Sioux lost to the WJC team, comprised of the absolute best U20 players in the entire country...essentially an all-star team of the best college and MJ American players. I doubt that many on here expected the Sioux to win that game. Also, the Sioux were short one of their better players for that game...being that he was playing for the opposing team (and actually scored the last goal for the U20 team). That same U20 team went on to win the WJC just a few weeks later...best in the world! USA!

I think the problem is that these people weren't thinking. The absolute worst DI NCAA team would annihilate the best NAHL team.
-
I think if he transfers to another college, wouldn't he have to enroll in school this upcoming semester to be eligible next Xmas break?
-
The Russians showed some skill/speed, but they couldn't connect on passes and kept trying to make the "cute" play only to have it broken up immediately. I think the Russians could potentially beat some of the NCAA schools on their schedule though as they get more used to playing with each other. Great to see Tate get an entire period of play. Gaarder continues to impress. He was being double shifted for a good portion of the night on the 1st and 4th line, and he didn't look out of place at all. Gleason reminds me of Genoway with his speed and ability to rush the puck up ice. I really think he is more effective at defense than forward. Bring on Harvard! We need some OOC wins!

When it rains it pours over in Boston, I guess. That would be unfortunate if true. CC beats MSUM, SCSU crushes DU, and BSU sweeps UAH. DU has gotten off to a very slow start for a team that many were anticipating walking away with the league title. Injuries have hit them hard (just like the Sioux).

Check out these lines! UND’s lines 13 Connor Gaarder–29 Brock Nelson–7 Danny Kristo 14 Taylor Dickin–27 Carter Rowney–15 Michael Parks 16 Mark MacMillan–21 Brendan O’Donnell–11 Derek Rodwell 8 Dan Senkbeil–28 Stephane Pattyn 24 Ben Blood–22 Andrew Panzarella 2 Andrew MacWilliam–5 Nick Mattson 18 Dillon Simpson–20 Joe Gleason 31 Brad Eidsness 35 Tate Maris 32 Aaron Dell Who would have thought at the beginning of the season that walk-on Gaarder would be on the first line?
-
All three DU goals were scored on the PP, including the OT winner. CC also beat MSUM in OT, despite being outshot 38-29 by the Mavs. CC is without Jaden Schwartz.
-
Not doing too well right now...down 4-0 at the end of 2. Hopefully they can mount a huge comeback...Duluth is in a down year this year and the Sioux are more talented.
-
Especially being that 6 of the 9 goals were scored against Clarke Saunders, who looks to be coming to UND next season! BSU finally beats DU! First time ever from what I heard.

:hypocrite: I'm sure the 5min major and game penalty to UMN's Thompson at the end of the 2nd period had nothing to do with emotions spilling over into the 3rd. But, yes, of course it was completely Tech's fault. :hypocrite:

Also, Hakstol beat Blais. Crazy...I know.

Dell was a stud all weekend. Surprised at UNO's play in both games...clogging it up with a ton of the game being played in the neutral zone. Made for a lot of stoppages in play and not much flow. I'm getting more and more impressed with Gaarder every time he plays. I like his style, plays with speed, isn't afraid to mix it up in the corners, and has good skill. He could be fun to watch develop over the next couple seasons. Huge win over UNO to get back to .500 in league play before the Xmas break. Now time to take it to Harvard and Clarkson before UMN comes to town!

Losing Knight is a huge blow...especially with our already very depleted forward group. Miller and St. Clair before the season, Grimaldi and O'Donnell, and now Lammy and Knight. This team has had to overcome a ton of injuries in addition to the pre-season stuff with Miller and St. Clair. Hopefully Knight's injury isn't long-term and he can play again in a couple weeks against Harvard...important non-conference games coming up with them and Clarkson.
-
Exactly. I was wondering what the heck they were doing...wonder if they play all their games that way?
-
UW manages a tie against red hot UMD. MTU with the OT winner to stun UMN at Mariucci. DU with 2 goals in the last 10min to beat BSU 3-2. UAA slams CC in the Springs, 6-3...4 PPG's for UAA in that one. Appears to be wide-open in the WCHA this year. Hopefully UND can rebound tomorrow and get the split.
-
1. Those posters will never support Hakstol until he wins a national title. 2. The only possible replacement candidate to them is Dean Blais. UND will never win another national title unless Blais is back at the helm.
-
Haha. The "bring Dean back" crew will always make me laugh. I don't recall seeing an "ass kicking" tonight...a 2-1 OT loss is hardly that.

Unless Dell goes pro. This is a good decision regardless. It brings in a goalie with NCAA experience in case we lose both Eidsness to graduation and Dell to the pros. Gothberg will be here for the long haul, but this gives him a chance to acclimate at his own pace. Although if Dell stays, it will leave us with four goalies.
-
I'm thinking split. I've watched a few UNO games on tv, and they look very talented/fast at times, and completely mismatched at others. It's weird, but something tells me that they take one game. That said, I'd love to see the Sioux keep their streak going.

I wonder if the people sitting next to that cowbell person mind at all. Or, if they can even hear any longer.
-
Agreed. The non-stop cowbell...not so much.

When was the last time a Sioux team had a "dominant" sweep in Alaska? They always seem to play us tough up there. Last year, with one of the best Sioux teams in a few years, they managed to tie UAA in Alaska. They did beat them here later that year 6-1/3-1 though.

Brock Nelson was named co-offensive POTW (with Schwartz from CC, of course) after his great weekend. Congrats, Brock.
-
Correct.
