  1. David Toews to the Brandon Wheat Kings of the WHL: http://whl.ca/david-toews-to-play-with-brandon-wheat-kings-p143667 It's the first "official" word of his departure that I've seen, even though we've all known for quite some time. Good luck to David.
  2. Played on the U17 team with Grimaldi and finished 2nd to Rocco in points on the team. Rocco had 40pts in 36 games (before being called up to the U18 team), while Miller had 31pts in 46 games. He must play with more of an edge, as he was also 2nd on the team in PIM. For the Intl competition, he was also 2nd in points (behind Grimaldi once again), with 17pts in 14 games and a whopping 56 PIM...26 PIM more than the next guy on the team.

  5. Wow, talk about drama over in Gopherland this offseason. It has been confirmed now...Leddy has signed and Birkholz has left the team due to the suspension (supposedly signing with Everett in the WHL). That's crazy. I wonder if Ambroz will come in now that Birkholz has left?
  6. Nice! That's when I graduated too. I should make a comeback!!
  7. My Predicted WCHA Finish: 1. UND 2. SCSU 3. UMD 4. CC 5. UMN 6. DU 7. BSU 8. UW 9. UNO 10. MSUM 11. UAA 12. MTU DU, UW, BSU, and UNO were the tough ones for me. DU and UW both lost a ton, but it's still hard to drop them too far...you know that they'll still have talent. And then with BSU and UNO, it's hard to predict how they will be affected by playing their first full season in the league. I think the top 3 and the bottom 3 will be pretty close, maybe just switch around the positions.
  8. Hopefully Schmaltz will join UND. This was mentioned on June 23rd after he decommited from UW. http://forum.siouxsports.com/index.php?s=&...st&p=455275 It has a link to the UW blog that has some info on him. http://noalibisnoregrets.blogspot.com/2010...-wisconsin.html
  9. Rocco seems to be a pretty mature and level-headed kid from all the interviews that I've read with him. Committing to a college just to get more money from a WHL team seems like a shady deal for a kid that eventually wants to be a pastor of a church. I'll go out on a limb and say that Grimaldi will be at UND next fall. With the Holst commitment, does that mean that he takes Genoway's spot in the forward lineup and that Chay won't be in the lineup at all now?
  10. Fiona Quick was also positive that Jordan Schroeder was leaving for the pros at midseason last season. That didn't work out well for her either.
  11. I doubt that Rocco would go through the trouble of sending the pic of him wearing a Sioux jersey to the coaching staff if he was planning on bolting to the WHL instead. I would think that Rocco will end up coming to UND.
  12. Sounds like a good kid. Welcome aboard, Rocco!
  13. Better to the Irish than his other school choice, DU. Of course, better than both of those is UND. Score one for Hak and Co!
  14. Talk about good timing on this question.
  15. Holy crap, huge news! What a great pickup for UND! Hakstol is continuing to land these "big" guns! I put big in quotes because he's about as big as Duncan. Hopefully Rocco can put up the stats like Duncan though!!
  16. Here are the stats for SSM: http://www.ssmsports.org/hockey/teams/2009...am-tier-i-stats He was a 9th grader last year (95 birth year), 5-8, 150lbs. He had 170 pts, leading the team in scoring by almost 70 pts. A search on WCH brings back these results on him:

  18. Potential new UND recruit? Jordan Schmaltz, a 2012 dman recruit for UW, announced that he is de-committing from Wisconsin and opening up his recruitment again. http://noalibisnoregrets.blogspot.com/2010...-wisconsin.html Looks like we were one of the schools that he visited prior to UW: If OSU doesn't nab him, that would be a nice pickup for UND, as we don't have any Defense recruits lined up yet for 2012 (and only one lined up for 2011...Nick Mattson).
  19. I really hope that Danny comes to UND next fall (2011) and develops into an excellent 4yr player for UND. He had so much potential in HS, and then has kind of fallen off the map in the USHL. Perhaps this last year in the USHL will help him out...
  20. GF native Alex Simonson commits to UNO: http://www.ushl.com/news/story.cfm?id=3330 That's a horrible ratio of points to penalty minutes. Blais has accumulated a good group of recruits from the USHL... Montpetit was a former UW recruit and Walters was a former UMN recruit. Is this the Matt White that was a former UND recruit, or is that the other Matt White? I forget.
  21. I wonder how many games the WCHA would suspend Mario for almost going into the stands to fight?
  22. Maybe you were a cancer in the locker room?
  23. http://www.pointstreak.com/prostats/player...p;seasonid=4429 Not sure what he is doing with his hair there ( ), but welcome aboard if true! Will he be bringing his friend Rocco along?
  24. Glad to see the UND Cycling Team doing so well. It kind of hit a wall there for a couple years with membership numbers (the last year that I was president, we won both the DII road and mtb conference titles), so I am happy to see it prospering once again and doing so well on the racing side.
  25. From Brad's blog: Who is everyone's guess?
