  1. He got a nice house out of it though..
  2. Actually several big games this week: Maine @ NDSU SIU @ NIU - this is an FBS game they can win. NAU @ UND Weber @ UNI Missouri St @ UT Matin - Preseason 3rd in OVC. MSU @ SDSU If the MVFC sweeps these games it will make a huge difference with the playoff seeds (1-16). Current MVFC nonconference: OVC 0-1 Big Sky 1-0 Big South 1-0 United 1-0 PL 3-0 DII 1-0 P-5 0-3 G-5 0-1
  3. Come on back to back mental mistakes... roughing kicker
  4. Those two TE were crushing that LB during that run
  5. man Quincy looks the part at TE
  6. OK, nice 3 and out.. now let's just work on the running game and get 7 on the board.
  7. O Boy, a wide open missed TD - follow-up with a missed FG
  8. Quick question, so what has already been approved and what still needs approval/funding?
  9. I thought that UND/Midco spent some change last year to move fiber out to the soccer field to broadcast games.
  10. Memorial Village II with Softball facility? Or New STEM facilities? or Aviation facility updates?

Well, let's see: SCSU, Mankato, Bowling Green, Michigan Tech, Air Force (see if they wanted to invest more in the program) or nothing. I would have looked at nothing for a short period of time. After, the success of the Penn State startup (it started the problem) and a number of other rumor schools out there... Waiting would have been the best option. See which schools are going to step up. It's not like those schools would not be available for scheduling. And I fully acknowledge that 7 is not ideal but to have the NCHC pound more schools in nonconference would have also been a benefit in the pairwise.

No hindsight here.. I have been against SCSU for a long time. I thought it was a mistake then and I still do now. The conference made a bad decision because they thought that they had to.. Again, huge fan of the NCHC and I believe that it has worked out better than anyone thought. But, SCSU was a mistake and IMO Gino did what was best for Gino, but he failed the NCHC. As you noted in your post, there was no compelling reason to add SCSU.

I still disagree, SDSU/Augie, USD/Augie and USD/SDU were big rivalry games back in the NCC. Some of the largest crowds were for Augie games at both USD and SDSU. That is like saying UND fans aren't going to drive to Fargo for the NDSU game or viscera. - It would increase revenue by adding another rival to the schedule. - It would increase attendance at the Conference Tournament. - It would place a conference school in the Sioux Falls market. Larger market presence increases more corporate dollars for everyone. Go look at the message board both fanbases complain about the lack of media coverage. Well, they are busy covering the two local NSIC schools. Put, Augie in NCHC or SL. You would see more dollars for DI athletic across the board in South Dakota. USD and SDSU have only hit a portion of the potential market in SF. SF still has minor league basketball, hockey, minor league baseball and minor league indoor football. Those are all sports entertain dollars not going to USD or SDSU. When you see those teams start to leave. It will mean DI sports is starting penetrate the Sioux Falls market. Until then, they have some work to do.

I thought that it was about Hockey schools that wanted to compete against the Big 10 and not worry about cost containment schools. Look at the facilities being built at Augie/St. Thomas. They aren't looking for second place. They are going to come in ready to compete and those arenas will be sold out with great crowds. Then look at the trends at SCSU.. school is in decline programs being cut and sports programs have already been cut. Which schools are growing and which one isn't? It is not about being a regional conference. It is about have the best schools to compete with the Big 10. I think you are badly misreading the cards on the table.
  15. Tom and Schlossman, I have a subscription to GFH because of you. Keep up the great work. I assume if more subscribed, we would see more coverage for football/basketball.
  16. Yes, CCHA with Mankato, Bemidji State, St. Thomas and Augie are in the region and would be good markets. Still waiting for Midco to move into the Twin Cities market. I am all for a swap of SCSU for St. Thomas. SL/NCHA and NSIC/CCHA.
  17. I completely agree. Plus, I don't think the SDSU is ready to go FBS. They still have to pay for the facilities. And they need to get attendance up for all football games. Late season games still hurt them due to weather. The South Dakota schools are not funded at the same level as North Dakota schools. The academic funding for both USD and SDSU would be approximately equivalent to UND budget. There are many differences between the South Dakota schools and North Dakota schools.
  18. Sioux Falls Live has some really nice content for other MVFC teams. Sports - Sioux Falls Live | Sioux Falls news and weather

I so disagree with that statement. Having Augie in the picture really pulls the Sioux Falls market into the SL. You would see increased engagement from USD and SDSU alum who live in Sioux Falls. Plus, it would be two more sellouts for both schools and better attendance at the conference tournament. I hope the success of Augie Hockey is a springboard to a move DI for them.
  20. Matt Brown has an entry on the Summit League Network deal. Interesting read. https://www.extrapointsmb.com/p/heres-summit-leagues-new-tv-deal-unique?utm_source=www.extrapointsmb.com&utm_medium=newsletter&utm_campaign=here-s-why-the-summit-league-s-new-tv-deal-is-so-unique Plus, one additional upside that has not been discussed is that all St. Thomas football games are now going to be streamed on Midco Plus. The more St. Thomas is plugged into conference platforms the better. Today, Midco is the home of SLN (Summit League Network) USD, SDSU, UND, St. Thomas football, Auggie hockey and ND/SD high school sports. That is a lot of compelling content for the typical upper Midwest sport fan. I really enjoy Midco Sports Network. I think the production quality is incredible. A number of the on-Air talents really connect with the fanbases. We are so lucky to have Alex Heinert, Brian Shawn and others.
  21. Yes, Tom does a great job. And this is the time in Fall practice I get nervous about injuries.
  22. Oh, wow - that would be so cool... over looking quad. It would really make the Union the central point. I can't say it enough to Alum that I have not been back on campus recently (5 years or more) the transformation of the campus over the last several years has been incredible. Plus, the projects coming on line in the next two or three years with the STEM programs. It is truly going to be a great campus. It is the best campus in the Dakotas.
  23. So, is this the guy everyone is talking about? Mamborou Mara left Guinea during a coup to chase his basketball dream in Toronto.

My nephew got an internship this summer working social media for sprint circuit in the Washington/Oregon area. He is having a blast. During the school year he calls hockey games (radio and P12 TV) for ASU. I think he did 5 games this year including the UND/ASU (radio) game in LV.
