Just to add some context to some of the discussions on this topic. DATA | Average Football Budgets 2026-2027 Members, Full Members Only PAC-12 | $25,092,033 American | $20,219,659 MWC | $14,964,796 Sun Belt | $14,026,019 CUSA | $11,800,229 MAC | $11,713,774 I think UND’s football budget is around $7–8 million. One other note: the Sac State arrangement with the MAC is more of a 5-year scheduling alliance, not an affiliate membership with an indefinite timeline.

It will be interesting to see how competitive they are against SIU in the first game. Looks like a nice facility opening up in the Fall of 2027!! Good Luck this year.

Thank you for the updates. I have always appreciated the rivalry between UND and USD. It is unfortunate that arrangements with the Big Sky Conference did not materialize. A conference anchored by Idaho, Idaho State, Montana, Montana State, USD, and UND would have provided an excellent foundation.

I like the idea of "a standard". I think UC-Davis will move forward with football in the near future. But, they have some serious facility upgrades to complete first. UC Davis has unveiled "Aggie Ascent," a $265 million, privately-funded athletics master plan to modernize infrastructure ahead of its move to the Mountain West Conference. Phase one prioritizes a $50 million expansion of UC Davis Health Stadium (football), a $14.5 million Woody Wilson Track & Field Complex, and an $18.7 million Golf Training Center. The other football school might already be in place for the MWC and that is Grand Canyon. It would be a project but they have the location, money and staduims in the area. The reality is the Grand Canyon has shown that they will support athletics and the on campus student population is growing. Mid-2,000s - on campus ~ 1,000 Early - 2010s - on campus ~ 15,000 Present - on campus over 25,000 Plus you have the online enrollment of (fall 2024) Total 113,257, UnderGrad: 75,936, PostGrad 37,321 In addition, they have a couple of area facilities that they could use for football. They kind of feel like a UT-SA, Liberty, Unv of South Alabama or Liberty - start up to FBS as fast possible.

No kidding, it looked like Matt Z was mad that he didn't get assigned to the Mountain West Media Day in Los Vegas so he took it out on the Missouri Valley Media day in SF.

So, we have #1 SDSU, #2 Ill St and #6 S. Ill at home and we have #3 YSU and #5 USD on the road. I like that..

I agree that much of what the current commissioner gets credit for didn't require a great deal of leadership. Adding ASU and St. Thomas wasn't exactly a difficult accomplishment—both schools were actively pursuing NCHC membership. Likewise, changing tournament locations feels more like a response to past shortcomings than a major achievement. That said, how is St. Cloud State replacing its refrigeration system and converting its rink from Olympic-sized ice (200' × 100') to a hybrid 200' × 94' configuration? Why not move to the NHL standard of 200' × 85', like the rest of the conference? If SCSU can't afford to make that transition, it's fair to ask whether the program is financially positioned to keep pace with the NCHC given the rapid changes taking place across NCAA athletics.

Perhaps, there is someone more qualified just looking for a chance to prove themselves.

2026: LIU, StT, @Portland St, @Nebraska 2027: @LIU, Idaho, @Iowa, (TBD) - home game needed 2028: @Min, Morehead St, @Idaho, (TBD) - home game needed. 2029: Idaho St @Iowa St 2030: @Min 2031: @Idaho St. These are the game I know about and I am not sure should they be nervious about needing home games in 2027 and 2028 at this point.

Looks like a RB commit last night!!

The schedule is great for H-F-H weekends this year. I have been attending those games for around 15 years now and I have never seen 4 in a season. Typical season is 1 or 2. I know 10/17 is in books right now, but I am working on 11/7 or 11/21.
