  1. So, you would take the word of Summit admin over NDSU's AD also.... since somebody wasn't telling the truth in that case also. Or you have 1 common element in both - hmmmm.. or Colonel Muster did it with a rope in the kitchen. Who really knows.. The one thing odd about Douple and his statement about UND's request to leverage the nickname issue. IMO if you are going to make statements like that you had better back it up. If you don't back then up you look whiny and vindictive.
  2. Most UND fans point to two major dust ups that have left Douple and Summit in a questionable light: 1) After USD was invited to join the Summit League. The NDSU AD and Douple were quoted in the media as to why UND was not being considered for membership. Unfortunately, the two quotes did not mess. Then Douple tried to clean up the media mess with an extremely ambiguous follow-up interview - which did not answer anything. So, the first introduction to the Summit League was a bit awkward. Again, none of the quotes came from UND administration. This mess was solely a communications mess between NDSU and Douple. 2) The second media mess was after UND cancelled the Summit League site visit and joined the Big Sky. Douple stated something to the effect that UND asked the Summit League to make joining the conference conditional upon the retirement of the Sioux nickname. A statement that UND leaders are on record denying. I know that the media (GF Herald) has tried several times to interview Douple and he has denied those requests. So, who is telling the truth - no one knows that this point. But, Douple has been given every opportunity to make a statement on record in GF. He could be taking the high road who knows. But, he came off as whiny and vindictive after UND cancelled the site visit. So the Summit League completely stumbled out of the gate and they have never recovered.
  3. I follow Big Sky TF because I have family running for ISU and I would say that Sac St. is the class of either conference. NDSU has a nice program but they would be in a battle for second with NAU. After those three programs, it would be extremely close with UM, ISU, WSU, MSU, SUU and USD. The Big Sky is a much deeper/competitive conference. I am looking forward to seeing if being in a conference like the Big Sky with the IPF can help improve UND T/F.
  4. Well, let's play a game just to make sure..
  5. In general, I think the low numbers are in part due to three factors: 1) In general, relatively new head coaches with mens football and basketball. 2) UND is fairly new to Division I and Big Sky has several very established programs Weber St. basketball and Montana/Montana St in football. 3) Market rates - you are comparing cost of living in Portland, Sacramento and N. California to Grand Forks.
  6. Here is an article that I found interesting: http://www.kentucky....l-programs.html couple of interesting quotes: Across the U.S., the most popular women's college sport is in the red. Women's basketball at the 53 public schools in the six largest conferences recorded operating losses last fiscal year of $109.7 million, while the men's teams reported operating profits of $240 million, according to NCAA financial records At Auburn University, salaries and benefits cost $1.14 million, or 1,783 percent of the Tigers' operating revenue of $64,225, and the program posted a $3.16 million operating loss.

I agree.. I noticed that Nurse came from Cal Davis and they had a nice secondary the last couple of years. I was hoping to see Nurse pull in a couple of DBs from the west coast this year and the start of building up the secondary at UND. None the less, I am looking forward to seeing him work with the guys.
  9. I don't understand the alliance bit.. system works just fine. NDSU will need to up the buyout on home and home contracts. If teams buyout then they can afford to pay for another game. In this case, NDSU had offers from schools in fact I think a couple of schools called NDSU. But, NDSU did not want pay the asking price. So, NDSU had a choice of playing 10 games or 11 games. They went with 10 games. I don't get the NDSU victim rant. Original buyout for the NDSU/MSU home and home contract was $50,000 - that is the problem.
  10. Not sure if the Horizon is going to just merge with the Summit. Horizon is going to be making some nice money off of the back to back National Championship game runs. I think the Horizon received $4.6 million this year and the Summit League made $1.4 million (same amount as the Big Sky) .

As long as the coaches feel they are qualified and they are the right fit. I am fine with them highering UND grads. In the last couple of seasons they have hired outside also - Wes Nurse, Benny Boyd and Kyle Myers. I think that it is a nice mix. I am really looking forward to seeing what Nurse and Boyd can do with the secondary this year.
  12. I thought that the original invite was for SDSU only. The only reason that NDSU got in was because SDSU said, "Package Deal - both or none". NDSU rode SDSU's coat tails to get into the MVFC.
  13. I was wondering if Gwoz would be interesting is working with CU or Colorado St to start a hockey program..

I find it interesting that only 18 schools have a subsidy of less than %50 and Total Revenue greater than $15 million outside of the 6 major conference (Big 10, Big 12, Big East, ACC, SEC and Pac). Mt. West (7) - $45M to $22M SDSU, New Mexico, Boise St, Hawaii, Fresno St, Colorado St and Nevada CUSA (2) - $40M to $27M Memphis, Marshall Patriot (1) Army $34M CAA (1) William&Mary $22M MV (2) Wichita St $21M UNI $18M Big Sky (2) UND $18M Montana $18M Summit (1) NDSU $15M
  15. I noticed that they have a "Rover" position on the depth chart. Not sure if this means a major schematic change in the secondary.
  16. Weber is rolling in rolling through the CIT. Here are the second round results: SECOND ROUND Evansville 86, Eastern Kentucky 72 East Carolina 75, Rider 54 Canisius 84, Youngstown State 82 (OT) Bradley 77, Tulane 72 Northern Iowa 63, Illinois-Chicago 51 Weber State 87, Air Force 57 Sunday Games Kent State (21-13) @ Loyola MD (22-11) 3:00 pm UC Irvine (21-15) @ Oral Roberts (19-14) 8:00 pm

  18. We don't have a guard that can keep up with A James
  19. yes, UNI is hot from 3 - defenders don't look ready to get into position to defend at times..
  20. UNI has not been able to take advantage of UND's small lineup
  21. I like the foul trouble this line-up is causing.. this could pay dividends later in the game..
  22. did not look like a charge to you guys? close call..
  23. kind of funny on the moving screen call.. hell they could make that call on both team all game long..
  24. guards need to stop the penetration... last couple of buckets way too easy.
  25. Team looks off so far, and they need to find the three point shooter or it is going to be a long night that kid has a stroke.
