    2012 early look

I just have to say - Matt Schill and gang are doing a great job - Through These Doors was great this season and I am looking forward to seeing what they have in mind for football.
  2. Instead of being mad at everyone else - have you looked at the school and fans to see what it could have done to put itself in a better postion. MSU was in the best hockey conference in the nation and given the same opportunity as all othe other WCHA schools for the last ten years - what have they done to prove themselves? In addition, I think it is best that you make your judgements in 5/10 years and see how it shakes out. The Gophs are playing political nice - they have something called funding that they need from the State, plus some capital projects they might need the states help with..
  3. They don't deserve the name Dakota - let's go with Wisconsin West or Iowa North and why the hell would you want to buy Minnesota!!
  4. I know a good way to add 4/8 points per games - make some Free Throws - eveyone on the team should be embarrassed. twins15 - great read - I thought you had a solid analysis - I saw little improvement from team overall and this team is losing Mitchell - who I thought was the best player on the team in the 4 or 5 games i watched this year.
  5. It sounds like the big guy Salmonson had trips planned to Montana St, NDSU and EWU. So, that is a good sign. According to Giacomazzi, Salmonson has recruiting trips planned in the coming weeks to Montana State, North Dakota State, Evanston, Eastern Washington and Wright State, all Division I programs. http://colfaxrecord....ail/202273.html
  6. I am sorry, if UND did not hvae approval from the Spirit Lake tribe by 2006. Why did the NCAA contact the tribe to try and get the tribe to rescind approval? The Staff Committee nonetheless described the resolution of the Spirit Lake Tribal Council as one “of questionable continuing efficacy” and admitted that “NCAA efforts to speak with representatives of the Spirit Lake Nation have been unsuccessful.” Ex. T, Jan. 18, 2006 Staff Comm. Memo at 13. Apparently, the NCAA has tried, but failed, to persuade the Spirit Lake Tribal Council to formally rescind its prior approval of UND’s use of the “Fighting Sioux” nickname and logo. Unable to secure a formal withdrawal of the Spirit Lake Tribal Council’s approval, the NCAA has instead attempted to cast doubt on the viability of an unambiguous resolution of the legitimate governing body of the Spirit Lake Nation. In the same breath, the NCAA insists that the essence of the Namesake Exception is a respect for tribal sovereignty. http://www.ag.state....n-state-crt.pdf - go to page 65

    2013 Recruiting

Don't feed the troll this is a recruiting thread that I would like to keep clean for 2013
  8. The Oklahoma tribe has never "approved" the use of the the nickname.. like UND has had to get "approval" from all regional tribes prior to the lawsuit. As part of the settlement UND had to get "approval" from only two tribes SR and SL. Again, FSU was only required to get "approval" from the FL tribe and the Oklahome tribe has never approved the usage of the nickname - if this is out dated information, please provide a link because I would be interested in reading it.
  9. I think that Minnesota gets a large boost from the Big Ten Network - the ranking has Northwestern at 20. I think people are watching all the shifts in college sports because of Conference TV networks. It will be interesting to see how profittable the Big 10 Network will be in the future. Cable operators want to go "a la carte" because sports networks are becoming the most expensive. I think the Big 10 Network will see a massive drop in revenue when "a la carte" comes around. http://www.reuters.com/article/2011/09/27/us-cable-idUSTRE78Q6EE20110927
  10. I saw the late start times.. that will be an adjustment. But, I think that it will be good.
  11. I would like to see more games with teams other than Montana and Montana St. But, they are the foundation of the Big Sky so it is up to other schools to step up.

    Think Big

I am really execited to see Hansen and if your Freund comparison is true... we will be in good hands and will make some noise in the big sky. Because the offense has been very limited the last two years.

    Think Big

General thoughts on Bradley: 1) Throws well on short timing routes 2) In general, I thought that he read coverages well - at time he tried to force the ball. 3) Lacked arm strength and accuracy on longer routes 4) Not very mobile 5) Manages the game well and looked good getting the team in position with his reads and checks In his defense he was thrown into the starting role last year and he now has another year in the system. It looks like he has put on weight so he must be training hard. He has room for improvement and I am looking forward to seeing what year two brings.

    Think Big

I have to agree with you on this one. Landry had a big arm... and he was tough SOB. Finishing a game with a torn ACL against Poly not many people can do that..
  15. I have always thought that UND is very lucky to have the Alrus Center and Canad Inn complex. When we go to games we always stay at the Canad Inn. I am looking forward to this years football schedule with Big Sky teams.
  16. Any thoughts on who is going to be joining the staff.. I believe that they two positions to fill
  17. Is it a starter from this year?
  18. No problem.. sorry I derailed this thread into a nickname rant.
  19. Seriouly, we still have USD and NDSU fans trolling the UND boards. You guys are funny.. I thought you guys moved on already. Best of luck with the Summit and congrats on the new arena in SF to play in.. I hope it helps the Summit make a major league step in the right direction. NDSU Congrats on the FCS win this year.. just one note - one big difference is that one schol is stepping up to play the best the other is playing among peers. Just a reminder UND national championships games where against Michigan, Wisconsin, Michigan St (2), Boston College, Boston University and N. Michigan. NDSU - Central State, N. Alabama, USD, Indiana (PA), Portland St and Sam Houston St. The other are polls... Again, best of luck to the Big Dakota 3 - hey Johnny how many basketball games did you travel to this year. UND and SDSU?
  20. Yep, got it SCSU is part of the WCHA - very informative wasn't sure why UND had to play them in the Final Five this year.. I thought we were talking about NCHC thus my point was about the recent event surrounding the formation of the NCHC and SCSU not being a founding member of the conference. It was SCSU opportunity to rid themselves of UND. What did they do, on the surface blew smoke about not wanting to be a part of the conference. Then saying that UND was icing them out of the conference due to SCSU role in the nickname policy. While working the back channels and leveraging connections to get into the conference. SCSU played the moral high ground for years saying that playing UND is a moral hazard - yet they worked so hard to get into the National Conference. It is an absolute contradiction by SCSU and the complaint they filed with the NCAA previously (NOTE: UND was/still is Fighting Sioux and the complaint by SCSU was one of the primary drivers for the nickname policy). So, Dave which one is it? moral hazard or not. It appears that it looks good on paper when you are forcing your agenda on another school, but apparently when SCSU has a little skin the game - not so much. Again, walk the walk - SCSU showed its true colors - take the moral high ground only when it convenient - it builds true character. Again, looking forward to all the conference games - but less is best when it comes to SCSU.
  21. I am looking forward to playing all conference teams. I think that it will be a great conference. I just have very limited respect for the SCSU adminstration and think that the school should walk the walk - can not stand playing UND - don't put UND on the schedule. NOTE: I live in the Twin Cities and I have travelled to SCSU for several games just not a fan. Our group has a lot more fun at Mankato games.
  22. Dave: I know that you have a man crush on SCSU, but I can not stand SCSU and sooooo wanted them left behind in WCHA. Most of it is based on the fact that SCSU admins have gone to great lengths to horass UND fans trying to attend games and fabricated statements about how horrible it is to play the UND. I say fine, don't schedule UND - please. So for me less games against SCSU the better.

    Jerseys

I believe that the Champions Club set a record for donations this year. I am sure that some people stopped but thousands... I believe the Champsions Club has approximately 2,500 members..
  24. Yes, congrats looking forward to next year.
