The two ideas I will never support is to go without a nickname or to adapt Roughriders. The agreement with the NCAA requires of to adopt on and also the merchandising aspect is huge for a new name. It's just time to move on and a new name is a good start. As to the Roughriders, it really has no connection to UND and more importantly, it's wrong to copt a name that belongs to a local high school. My first choices would be either Nokota or North Stars. Both are bold names and make a statement about who we are.

WDAY radio wasn't much better. I caught 5 minutes of Kolpacks radio show yesterday morning and practically threw up in my mouth. They had Carson Wentz's dad on and they are going on about how UND offered Carson the keys to the kingdom and probably would have been a 4 year starter, but he chose to go to NDSU knowing he'd be stuck behind Jensen for years, but look at him now. Gloat a little more about getting a great QB. I still wonder too why we let WDAY broadcast our regular season games. We seem to be outcasts to them any other time.

I agree, it's hard for an FCS team to break even when they sell out the stadium. Considering how low attendance has been in recent years, there is no way FB made money last year.

It's really disappointing that there isn't more media attention to the spring game. Maybe Faison needs to step up pressure on WDAY to start doing more? Next concern is whether the fall games will be promoted heavier than in the past? We are going totally dominated by NDSU in all facets of the media and it needs to stop. Do many people even realize we HAVE a spring game tomorrow?

I firmly believe that men's hockey is the only place we need to fund, plus the Title IX equivalent. Maybe everyone will lose their nerve on funding football when they see what it costs. Paying for 126 COA's won't be cheap, and I just don't see how we can afford this. If we could charge more for tickets, I suspect we'd be doing it already, and it's not fair to put more on the backs of those already paying, meaning fans and Champion Club members. Go with hockey and see how everything else shakes out.

I've seen stories where the Montana schools and Idaho State have said they weren't going to give out stipends and felt it wasn't needed in the Sky. I agree with this, no one can afford a big time increase like this. I'm in favor of giving to the hockey programs (both M and W) since hockey is our big sport here and men's hockey is the one that brings in the revenue. I'd say we are looking at about something close to $250,000 just for football, and a like number for other women's sports. No way can we afford this right now, so sit tight and see what happens. The other Sky schools holding back should be a huge red flag to wait. IMO

I don't see anything wrong with calling them Nattys or NC's, I just wish we'd win one once in a while. Are you listening hockey and football?

Sorry, but that's not good enough. Need 8 wins to make the playoffs and that's the goal. PLAYOFFS. Anything less doesn't cut it.

What's being overlooked here is the "11" behind Hak's name. No other coach has that many failed attempts in a row. I'm not sure if a lot of those guys left on their own or were "encouraged", but it apparently wasn't tolerated in the past. Not really suggesting anything, just pointing out something. Question is, how tolerating are going to be in the future?

I don't know, but it's frustrating. We just seem to be unable to get to the top in any sport anymore.

I can't believe it. Same old story, I think we are completely jinxed when it comes to winning championships in any sport. I really thought this would be the year, start with hockey and keep up the winning into football. I'm too depressed to even think that far ahead any more. Nothing ever goes our way any more, just nothing.

Well now, you could be a little more clear by saying Bubba is increasing the size of the players rather than the roster size.

Weren't we always at the maximum 85 players/63 combined scholarships? There was no reason not to be, this is just common sense.

Great to hear about Bartels. He's still my quarterback of choice and it looks like he's stepping up to the role perfectly and I'm not one bit surprised.

And the plans they announce will be that we aren't doing anything until the schools at the top make a decision. The Sky isn't going anywhere until this is all settled and everything thought through.

What is the latest on our doper? I haven't heard anything that Bubba took any action. Maybe I just missed it, but we need to maintain discipline, even if it is just a little weed.

That's why I'm never a fan of transfers. They washed out at the last place they were at, so why should we expect any better of them here? I'm wondering if we won't have a few more leave by the time spring ball ends.

Faison really going out on a limb putting $9162 bonus in there for Jones to win the title. Almost seems like he's committing the break room coffee fund to come up with the needed dollars, considering the odd number there. I don't think he has to worry though.
