  1. I said there very thing 3 weeks ago or more and more than a few people said "Don't panic, we have until signing day". Yes, I'm worried about this, I feel this recruiting class will be a disaster and coupled with the defections, this digs the hole a little deeper.
  2. Between the two, I still think Bubba is the better choice. He's from defensive side of the ball and that seems to be how championships are won. Also, Bubba has more experience with D2 and D1 as opposed to NAIA. And, lastly, if it's DeBoar, every time you see him or hear his name, like Pavlov's dogs, you are going to think about that day he totally humiliated UND football. That day really started the death spiral of this team, and while being reminded of it may not be a major factor, it's still a burr under my hide. Bubba works for me. Yo.
  3. It looked like Bartles was showing some leadership and plenty of improvement in the final games. That is something to build on.
  4. We played Valpo this year instead of a big money FBS game. We'd have been better off getting a paycheck for $350,000. A lot of good that W did us with Valpo. We need to start winning those big money games anyway, that's the best of both worlds.
  5. No one. I'm just saying Taylor found a way to get it done. Faison should have dumped Muss way sooner, posted the job and got a new guy going by Dec. 1. I realize the situations are different, but the end results could have been the same; a new guy quickly.
  6. I was thinking this very thought yesterday, and you were right. Had Muss been shown the door even by Nov. 1, the position could have been listed and a new guy on the ground by Dec 1. I don't get the reason for waiting. Even if it's some big name coordinator who is coaching an upcoming bowl game, I would think he could still be named and hired. Look at what Wyoming did with Bohl. I see no reason we couldn't do the same thing. And speaking of Bohl, NDSU gets totally blindsided by his leaving, yet they get someone in the job in 7 days, yes, 7 days. Faison knew months ago that Muss was done, and yet we don't have anyone a month after the firing. I can't foresee this dragging on another week or two, but I wouldn't be surprised if it did.
  7. The problem I have is, you think every kid we get is some kind of over the top phenom who is going to be unstoppable. I know we want to be excited about our recruits, but let's reserve some judgment on them until they hit the field.
  8. Does that guaranteed money include his cut on ticket sales too, like Bohl had? I'm assuming the usual incentives are there too for conference championships as well as playoff appearances. Is this better than what they gave Bohl, because I think Bohl got around $425,000 when he won everything last year?
  9. I doubt we are going to get much in the way of "top recruits" this year. Between having a dismal 3-8 season and no coaching staff in place until next year, I think it's safe to say we aren't looking at anyone exceptional. That has to change next year.
  10. I probably should have put in that my number 1 choice is still Marshall from MSU. That said, I really have no problem with Bubba. As others pointed out, why didn't Weber grab Pflu if he's such a good candidate? And really, there is nothing wrong with Bubba.
  11. I have no problem with Bubba being the next coach but I certainly would have problems with Pflugrad getting hired. Granted, no one will ever know exactly what transpired at UM, however we don't need someone that controversial here.
  12. Marshall has always been a high pick for me, but for some reason, there hasn't been a lot of excitement for him. Personally, I'd rather have him or Bubba over Pflu.
  13. This is totally beyond stupid. When someone told me this yesterday I thought they had the facts wrong, but I guess not. I'm glad to see Hak nip it right now. Three times in 18 months shows he isn't learning and it's time to get a little more drastic.
  14. That's my feeling as well. I just hope all the facts are out now so we don't get blindsided by something down the road. Faison absolutely needs to be open on this get all the details public and soon, so we can move on and put it behind us.
  15. Then why all the defections? The fact that so many are leaving even before a new coach is hired tells me these guys feel the program won't improve in the short run, or they have problems with the athletic department as a whole and not just a particular coach. At any rate, it's not a good sign that so many are leaving when change in imminent.
  16. That's even more alarming.
  17. We don't need anyone with any off field baggage, especially after the VB incident, and that's what you would get with Plfugrad. I'm leaning towards Marshall myself. He understands Sky football and has some knowledge of recruiting in our area. I honestly think BB would be more of a case of name recognition rather than raw ability.
  18. It's not hard to do the math when you look at it that way. As I said earlier, the truth needs to come out or the speculation will get worse. I feel the truth will be the best defense.
  19. I hope the truth comes out on this, just to stop the speculation that will only continue. In most cases, the truth is a lot less juicy than the rampant rumors that pop up. Faison's best bet is come clean and move on with a good replacement.
  20. New dead period in recruiting this year. Kicks in just about the time we should have a new guy on the ground. I'm interpretting this as no visitation rather than no contact. I think there is another dead period that starts a week before signing day. Still, this will hurt recruiting for us and yes, I'm still worried this year will be less than stellar. This doesn't give a lot of time for serious recruiting any more. http://www.sbnation....ing-dead-period
