Hero compiled a list of the top 300 FCS recruits, none of them are our signees unfortunately. In the short run the coaches are going to have to mold what we have into top calibre players. In the long run we have to pick up players that make the list, just no two ways about it. Shouldn't someone have known a little sooner that Case was looking elsewhere? It just seems odd that we lose him at the very last minute and don't have a capable replacement. A competent recruiter should always be one step ahead of the game.

Overall I'm quite satisfied with the guys we signed today, but disappointed in the QB. I feel he's going to be a huge work in progress if he works at all. Would we still have room for a drop down if something should be available? It still bugs me that the current regime didn't stay on top of Case to either make sure he signs on the dotted line in December or we have a couple other studs in the wings early enough that we get them. I think this is one position screw up that is going to continue to bedevil us down the road. I'd rather have brought in 3 QB's than 3 kickers. WTF

I don't get why St. Peter only is willing to give us a Nov date? They seem to be able to accommodate CERTAIN other schools in Sept. Sitting at an outdoor game in Nov? It would have to be one heck of an opponent.

Sad but absolutely true, unfortunately.

The only chance would be if Berry somehow got a well paying job somewhere else immediately so we aren't on the hook. Fat chance of it happening and no way of knowing for sure what he'd get until after we dumped him. And I can't image in Berry taking a negotiated settlement for a lot less but maybe Chaves should try. We are pretty much between the proverbial rock and a hard place.

I agree, it just doesn't even inspire them any more. Just work on the basics.

^^^This X 1000. I've been on Bubba's case here about recruiting and it's now or never. From the looks of it he's targeting the right guys, but, but, can he get them brought home? I sure hope so.
