  1. I met Frenchy at homecoming tailgating last year (or maybe the year before). He was living near Ashly, ND. Isn't there some award he should be considered for - Sioux Booster, what a part of UND history/lore. He said that all the mugs that weren't picked up when the building was tore down were bought by someone and sold on ebay. He still had the frenchy moustache and was very friendly.
  2. Read the story - oops sorry - let me translate - the amendment simply calls for a waiting period before they "replace" the nickname. Big Sky will have no problem with that - thanks for your interest in Sioux sports.
  3. I like this amendment it prevents the policitally correct zealots from rushing a new nickname choice. I thought I read that the NCAA was trying to force UND to choose a new name pretty quickly - because they know that if there is no replacement that fans will simply keep calling the team Fighting Sioux.
  4. Really - you have so little going on in your life, so little other things of interest to you that you spend time every day on a fan site for a team that you don't support and have no connection with? That's just sad.
  5. Oh this is going to bring out the trolls - knowing that they've "never" lost a recruit to UND.
  6. Don't tell me another one came over - geez can you not see how stupd and pathetic you guys look coming on to a fan board of a team that you claim you have no interest in, have mooved on from...my "ignore list of of bisonswille rejects is longer than most of their resumes.
  7. Please don't insult us with your lack of knowledge of history not only has UND beaten ndsu more overall, they owned the bison the last decade they played.
  8. Nice mention in Sports Ilustrated this week - but no reference to time at UND
  9. It is so sad that you just don't get it. No one here cares. Your continual presence here and the presence of other bison boneheads just perpetuates your insecurity and never ending need to compare ndsu to UND. Sad, really sad.
  10. Highly doubt they are going to not redshirt him next year - there are academic reasons for redshirting as well. I'm not ready to give up on any of the quarterbacks we have on the team and throw an 18 year old kid into the Big Sky conference - highly doubt the coaching staff is either. But we need something to talk about in the chat rooms.
  11. I knew Gene when I was a student involved with football at UND, he had a wit about him and always a smile on his face - totally the cat that ate the canary smile. I was in the locker room the game he held a bison bobblehead and used it as a prop during his pre-game speech - let's say the bobblehead was worse for the wear after that speech. He and Pat Berns made a great set of assistant coaches.
  12. I think I just threw up in my mouth after reading this.
  13. We roadtripped up to Greeley about 8 years ago and tailgated along with the parents of the players. Don't know if it's changed but the parking lot had space for it and the scenery around the stadium was gorgous.
  14. Actually Luther College in Iowa is known as the Norse based on the Norwegian heritage of the college.
  15. Had the pleasure of hearing Sioux Sport's own Dave Berger and the Downtown Horns Band at the homecoming gathering Friday night. Wow - a realllly great cover band. I nominate them as the official dance band of UND - I suppose the UND marching band has to be the official band. Dave you are very talented and we are sure glad you take the time to do all you do for keeping Sioux fans connected. I think you should keep a thread active that lists where the Downtown Horns will be playing.
  16. That's what rumors are - rumors. No way to know the truth - UND had to put those dollars in there otherwise questions would have been asked I suppose. I should say that it wouldn't bother me if this was the truth - this is another no win situation because you will never please everyone.
  17. Rumor has it that it's decided and It's gonna be the Roughriders, those who live outside Grand Forks won't know and won't care that a local high school has the same nicknames. That isn't uncommon around the country.
  18. According to The Ralph, it was a single comment communicated over a year and a half ago.
  19. Any truth to the urban legend that one of the reasons Shakey's went under was the weekly visit to the buffet lunch from the UND Football Team Hogs?
  20. There are many issues that go into a higher education choice - the major they intend to go into, their comfort with the size of the school and the size of the community, do they have friends attending, are their parents and family able to attend their games and of course the amount of financial assistance offered. It's amusing but sad to read the constant negative wishful thinking of the bison trolls.
  21. There was a buzz in the crowd when he said it, but since we are no longer rivals it's pretty easy to move on. I've also had my UND logo wear confused for Notre Dame but I forgive people quickly and move on. Perhaps that was what happened with the polls a few weeks ago - coaches thought they were voting for Notre Dame

Does anyone really think the school administration needs a thread to alert them they have a coaching problem - if and when there is a coaching problem?
  23. Wow does that video clip ever speak volumes - one side focused on the negative and obsessed, the other side focused on the positive and confident in themselves. Some things never change.
  24. If we don't play each other anytime soon - the question has to be asked (again and again) - what is your purpose on this board/thread?
  25. SCSU's opposition to the Sioux nickname left with President Santiago whose legacy at SCSU has now become that he left the school in very tough financial condition, thus their need to cut programs, such as aviation, and put the football team on the chopping block. SCSU is a nice road trip, their fans are fanatic, their booster club is welcoming to Sioux fans, there is even an unofficial traveling trophy I believe sponsored by Siouxsports? For a rivalry to survive there does need to be some tension and give and take. Let's now be too "holier than thou" on this - college hockey needs programs like SCSU to remain a viable part of college sports.
